I wish they'd kept it as a more traditional nebula + stars lamp as the approach they've taken for the stars is awesome. I'm a big fan of more realistic projections but I'd rather have either real stars OR the nebulas and laser stars, so feels like they could have made two separate cheaper and compact units that were more specialised.
Completely agree! What they've done with the stars is something new and awesome, maybe we'll see a next gen with some of the feedback.
Yeah you're right, the disk based /static image stuff just reminds me of 60's slide projectors, and they don't feel modern or new. I want ambient randomised colours swirling around, not the bat signal.
Yes! I don't need the sound machine at all. I'd be happy with just the visual part of it.
Can anybody recommend a really good star projector? I’m not looking for planets or aurora really, just a straight star projector free of any grid effect.

I purchased a few Govee products in the past. I was surprised by the great quality.
So, what do you recommend to enhance the experience of the Govee Galaxy Projector Pro? Buy 2 of them and put them in one room? Or mix it with another projector?
Wonder if it works with govee dreamview ?
Looks like the best variant on the market I've seen - plus its pairable with the Govee home app so I can control all my other lights from one place. Glad I didn't buy any of the other ones yet because this seems like the winner. Thanks for the review!

Can you change the Laser Color of the stars? I want white stars.
Yeahhhh.. not for that money though. If it was like $50 then maybe, but at this price you're getting close to an cheap 1080p projector to put whatever you want up there.
Yes but pic would be only like 50 inch...you need special mirror

do Discs from other projectors fit in?
Great video! How does the proection compare tith the Pococo in terms of disc quality and brightness?
It's similar, in terms of brightness. However, the Govee projector is not easy to compare since it doesn't really fit in as a traditional laser style galaxy projector or as a traditional disc baseed galaxy projector. It's kind of a new take that combines elements of both. The projections themselves are better on the pococo, but again as I've mentioned they projections aren't exactly the main thing here - it's the laser stars and using the discs as a nebula!
When they find a way to make the laser stars projector in white color then it will be really cool 🙌

It's not a modern projector like you think. It's a old school film style. It just displays a single image.
Thank you for this review. I'd been eyeing this product for a while now, mostly due to being curious about projectors like this, and having all my entertainment lights in the Govee ecosystem already.
While it looks like it has good quality, and many features I would want in such a device, knowing it needs DARK rooms to work properly means I'll probably pass on buying one.
Your most welcome! Yes, it's a cool device that is better than most give it credit for, but most people don't realize that it will need complete darkness to get the proper effect, I bet most people try to combine it with their other Govee/Lights and that's why the reviews for it have been mixed thus far from improper use resulting in missed expectations.
if the led was a moving nebula lens with multiple leds, this product would be perfect
It is DEFINITELY a gimmick, I ordered it and promptly sent it right back. Even the lasers are too dim.
I'll wait till they release a black maodel and do some changes like they did the LED strips new hardware

I think Govee didn’t want to go towards realism with this product. I feel like they wanted to keep it more like imaginative backgrounds with laser stars main focus. But I seriously don’t agree with the price tag. It’s a decent product tho.

I was an early tester and I absolutely hated it. The advertising materials were incredibly deceptive and made promises that this machine couldn’t cash.
It’s also incredibly expensive and the “scenes” add little to the light.
I want to get one in the UK but they’re out of stock.
The biggest complaint I hear is that it’s not nearly as bright as it should be for the price point

Big no, untill this day i did not see a realistic planetarium projector , you are better of to buy a epson projector for around 1000€ and go to youtube and choose any universe video and project that on your wall or screen , elite screens has one of the best .
As someone whose used a video projector as a star projector ruclips.net/video/n5rXFlaYoqg/видео.html I can tell you it has a vastly different effect and in no way comes close to replicating what star projectors or planetariums are able to do - Specifically in terms of their light throwing area of coverage! Have you seen the DS1, Sega Flux or Pococo projectors? They are more in the realm of trying to recreate realism.

I've been waiting to see this Govee projector for a while, since they've apparently had it in development for a couple years. But good lord what a bloated mess. This is like when Homer designed a new vehicle for his brother's car company. I think I'll stick with my galaxy lamp.
Not fond of the physical design!? It kinda looks like a robot head or something, I don't mind it, the curves and design elements give it a bit of a retro futuristic look in person, it's smaller than you'd think!
@FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE truthfully the robot head look is the coolest part. Reminds me of the "astronaut helmet" 8-track stereo my parents still had when i was a kid. The rest is just too much. Govee should have stuck with doing the nebula light and lasers better than everyone else, instead of cramming discs and a bad speaker into it. Seems like more of a kid toy now than a rad piece of ambient lighting.
My guess is Govee will release a version 2 pro and lite. The pro will swap the color LED projector for. nebula or aurora projector, and the Lite will be star fiend and aurora/nebula projector. (Like the new TV backlight 3 Lite and 3 Pro)....
Man, the laser stars are far and away better than any other projector, and I think blue over green is a great choice. I wish this had the rosettas aurora function

How so? I paid 59 per bulb for my hues vs the govee bulb that do the exact same plus has a built-in mic for half the price plus 2 bulbs. Every big name costs more and gives you less
