Yeahhhh.. not for that money though. If it was like $50 then maybe, but at this price you're getting close to an cheap 1080p projector to put whatever you want up there.
I wish they'd kept it as a more traditional nebula + stars lamp as the approach they've taken for the stars is awesome. I'm a big fan of more realistic projections but I'd rather have either real stars OR the nebulas and laser stars, so feels like they could have made two separate cheaper and compact units that were more specialised.
Yeah you're right, the disk based /static image stuff just reminds me of 60's slide projectors, and they don't feel modern or new. I want ambient randomised colours swirling around, not the bat signal.
Can anybody recommend a really good star projector? I’m not looking for planets or aurora really, just a straight star projector free of any grid effect.
So, what do you recommend to enhance the experience of the Govee Galaxy Projector Pro? Buy 2 of them and put them in one room? Or mix it with another projector?
Don't be one of those youtubers who don't put the price when reviewing an item. The price is just as important as anything else you said. Everyone knows the price can change so that is not an excuse.
$54 coupon is available on amazon! Just used that and some amazon points ive been stocking up to pick this up for $60! My son is going to love it. You got a sub from me. First time seeing your channel and first time looking up galaxy projectors. I got lucky!
Looks like the best variant on the market I've seen - plus its pairable with the Govee home app so I can control all my other lights from one place. Glad I didn't buy any of the other ones yet because this seems like the winner. Thanks for the review!
This multi-layer star projection to reduce the "grid" effect has me wondering... What would a Star Projector Addict see if they had all of their star projectors on at once?
I have one and it's not good. And this one just reminds me of an overpriced version of what I have by the looks of it. I wanna know which one was the one from 0:17 Nevermind. I see now. DS1 for $600 is definitely where it's at.
I am searching star projector to my girlfriend who loves stars for Christmas gift. What would be the absolute best choice for max 150€ budget? Would it be this?
Great video!! Thanks a ton!! I just discovered these galaxy projector exists & I love it!!! You are correct how so many of the projectors have a grid like look to them. From what you said, the Bliss Lights Projector might be one to check out. Which model of the Bliss Lights were you talking about? Do you have a video/guide that recommends the better ones? Thanks again!
I was an early tester and I absolutely hated it. The advertising materials were incredibly deceptive and made promises that this machine couldn’t cash. It’s also incredibly expensive and the “scenes” add little to the light.
How well does this work on a black ceiling compared to a white ceiling? I am currently decorating my kids bedroom and bought one of these, but dont want to paint the ceiling black as planned if it does not work well.
Hi there, great video. I had a quick question, do you HAVE to buy the Alexa speaker thing in order from the projector to work? I'm not really concerned about the music necessarily, I just want the galaxies on my ceiling! Please let me know, thanks so much!
Thanks for watching! To answer your question - No of course not! It'll work without any apps just from the physical buttons. Or for full control with the free Govee app.
I think Govee didn’t want to go towards realism with this product. I feel like they wanted to keep it more like imaginative backgrounds with laser stars main focus. But I seriously don’t agree with the price tag. It’s a decent product tho.
It's similar, in terms of brightness. However, the Govee projector is not easy to compare since it doesn't really fit in as a traditional laser style galaxy projector or as a traditional disc baseed galaxy projector. It's kind of a new take that combines elements of both. The projections themselves are better on the pococo, but again as I've mentioned they projections aren't exactly the main thing here - it's the laser stars and using the discs as a nebula!
Man, the laser stars are far and away better than any other projector, and I think blue over green is a great choice. I wish this had the rosettas aurora function
Nobody wants the speaker portion. If you're gonna spend over $100 on a galaxy projector, you are definitely spending money on good speakers. Repurpose that cost into better looking slides. Or better yet, give us one that's just the blue lasers. Absolutely phenomenal
Thank you for this review. I'd been eyeing this product for a while now, mostly due to being curious about projectors like this, and having all my entertainment lights in the Govee ecosystem already. While it looks like it has good quality, and many features I would want in such a device, knowing it needs DARK rooms to work properly means I'll probably pass on buying one.
Your most welcome! Yes, it's a cool device that is better than most give it credit for, but most people don't realize that it will need complete darkness to get the proper effect, I bet most people try to combine it with their other Govee/Lights and that's why the reviews for it have been mixed thus far from improper use resulting in missed expectations.
I think that needing complete darkness for this item to reach its full potential is a huge flaw. I currently use a Airivo Star Projector and I don't need complete darkness to enjoy it's features while watching a movie and also having my LED lighting at 50% brightness. Best part is the price, only $49.95 for the Airivo and even less with a coupon. The Airivo doesn't have an app for customization like Govee but in all honesty you don't need one. The Airivo has a remote control to access it's features which are good enough for me and the brightness level is awesome. The Govee item is ridiculously over priced.
Big no, untill this day i did not see a realistic planetarium projector , you are better of to buy a epson projector for around 1000€ and go to youtube and choose any universe video and project that on your wall or screen , elite screens has one of the best .
As someone whose used a video projector as a star projector ruclips.net/video/n5rXFlaYoqg/видео.html I can tell you it has a vastly different effect and in no way comes close to replicating what star projectors or planetariums are able to do - Specifically in terms of their light throwing area of coverage! Have you seen the DS1, Sega Flux or Pococo projectors? They are more in the realm of trying to recreate realism.
I've been waiting to see this Govee projector for a while, since they've apparently had it in development for a couple years. But good lord what a bloated mess. This is like when Homer designed a new vehicle for his brother's car company. I think I'll stick with my galaxy lamp.
Not fond of the physical design!? It kinda looks like a robot head or something, I don't mind it, the curves and design elements give it a bit of a retro futuristic look in person, it's smaller than you'd think!
@FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE truthfully the robot head look is the coolest part. Reminds me of the "astronaut helmet" 8-track stereo my parents still had when i was a kid. The rest is just too much. Govee should have stuck with doing the nebula light and lasers better than everyone else, instead of cramming discs and a bad speaker into it. Seems like more of a kid toy now than a rad piece of ambient lighting.
My guess is Govee will release a version 2 pro and lite. The pro will swap the color LED projector for. nebula or aurora projector, and the Lite will be star fiend and aurora/nebula projector. (Like the new TV backlight 3 Lite and 3 Pro)....

Why is your channel not taking off??? These videos are so high quality
Thanks GroupB! Fingers crossed with more time and work 🤞

It is DEFINITELY a gimmick, I ordered it and promptly sent it right back. Even the lasers are too dim.
Is there potential in a 2.0 or is it just fundamentally flawed design?
@@DannyMartin3z there is a 3rd unit in testing now, we will see.
I also ordered and sent back. Stars are good but nebulas are not good enough for price. BlissLights evolve still better for price.
Wondering if this could be modified to show the night sky from skyrim, and play some Skyrim night ambience+music
lazerdim???

Been waiting for this review 👌
Enjoy
Can these thing project tv or move or net as well
I purchased a few Govee products in the past. I was surprised by the great quality.
Is there any inputs aside from power? I wonder if this can be used as a regular projector
It's not a modern projector like you think. It's a old school film style. It just displays a single image.

so ur supposed to put it in the middle of your room?!?
Thank you, I liked the unique and smart look of this projector, though the brand is not familiar to me..
