Takk for det! Det er så mye rykter og usikkerhet om ammo til Krag, så jeg håper videoen min kan være til hjelp for noen.

Something I noticed on the Stomperud action that I have is that the bolt handle bears on the receiver, leaving the locking lug and and guide rib not quite touching the receiver. I'll have to remember to stone the bolt handle until the locking lug and guide rib do bear, then recheck headspace. With the 1916 action that I put the .243 barrel on, I planned on marking it in some manner for low recoil .243 loads only. Maybe an engraved plate on the loading gate. There are a couple manufacturers here in the US that make the low recoil rounds.

Interesting! Hope it works out for you, with your Stomperud Krag. To much headspace is difficult to deal with. Setting the barrel back further, will mess with the placement of the iron sights on any rifle. The Krag also has the extractor recess to worry about. About your .243, I think you need loading data with preassure information to get a suitable load. Seems like you have a couple of challenges on your hands. Good luck, and be carefull!

@@Dimwit_the_last_mountainmanRight, headspacing is much simpler on the rimmed US Krag. I think the bolt on the Stomperud is mismatched to the action, it would only take perhaps a couple thousandths inch to get it back into fit. It's an 1897 Steyr action.

@@nutrinutbob I know it's possible to fit a Kongsberg bolt to a Steyr receiver. I believe it only needs working on the bolt handle. Hopefully you will end up with proper headspace. I'm off to check on our cabin. Will make another video while I'm there. Stay tuned!
