Nice! We didn't know about your hometown. Yeah, talking about one's own city can be pretty fun too! Man, be proud of those beautiful coast and seas!! Someday we'll see them with our own eyes! :D
Can you recommend fun activities to do? Like snorkeling, surfing, paragliding I know it's not free. But I wouldn't mind paying for fun activities (that's why I saved money lol) thanks xx
I loved it. I was there all December 2019 to January 7. 2020. It rained a lot but we had breaks. It didn't stop me. I spend a lot of time at the beach in Amoudara. My hotel was on The road that leads to the beach. That was my starting point. I would go all the way down to ΔΕΗ and back. As a matter of fact on Christmas Day I was most of the day at the beach. I was cold not dressed well but I loved it. I picked many seashells. Beautiful. I also was looking for sea glass. I collected a lot of both and here they are in Virginia.Going to the Knossos Palace after I got lost with Google Maps directing me to go through a kafeneio or on one way roads, I felt the same pride as I felt at the Acropolis Mouseio. The Mini Market and the Souvenir Store on Andreas Papandreou and Mηλου treated me as family. I visited Chania and Rethimnon. The highlight of my trip was the Ροδια Χωριο, το μπαλκονη του Ηρακλειου. Yes I loved your town and I am returning in March. I was amazed on the high way coming from Chania. In front of me was a police car. I kept my distance. Next thing you know a car passed me και τον αστυνομικο σαν σφερα. Τυποτα ο αστυνομικος. Αρχεισα και εγω to drive the same. I was impressed with the road to Malia.
Thank you for your video! I'm going to Heraklion next week, will be staying there for 6 weeks - this is the most helpful resource I've found so far. Can't wait!
Just got back. Was driving down the road and bam! There was the Palaiokastro Fortress parking area. I went back and checked it out... absolutely beautiful!! Thanks ! I love Crete! Can't wait to go back.
This is the best city for me because my mother is Greek and we come every year in Iraklio to see the family I love it every time and miss it too during the year when we are in belgium...
Very nice video. We will have only 3 days in Heraklion this year so we might not be able to visit all interesting places in Crete. For sure we will take that walk in downtown Heraklion to the fortress. Heraklion will be our first city to visit in Greece before Athens and the mainland. I'm sure we will have a nice time in Crete.
Looks so different since 1972 when my family had to leave with the us airforce. Sorry... The people there were so kind and amazing. All my family miss that place. Such a wonderful island.
Patrioti, great video. I was in Heraklion, December 2019 till January 2020. I did not do much there except for the Knossos Palace. I was staying at Amoudara. I hope it's spelled as such. Being Kefalonian, I was truly impressed with your island but mostly of the people. Great video. See you in March of 2020. ( I live in the US )
Only video I watched from start to end. The Venetians. They conquered my island, Kefalonia. They left their influence there but not in Crete. They were horrible people. In Kefalonia we only have one fortress but never the less we kept them in our dialogue.. Our names and our towns. One more time, great video. You love your island. You are a great asset to Heraklion
Definitely looks like it is worth a visit!!! Would love to explore the castle outside of the city! By the way, have you thought of sharing this with your local tourism office or even the Crete Tourism board? Great video as always!!!
Really nice and informative video! But how did you make the drone shots? I would like to fly my drone but I think it is going to be hardly possible because of extensive no-fly-zone due to the airport.
@@aroundthegoodworld Right, that sounds reasonable. The drone shots round up your video really well. And you put in a lot of work. I appreciate it. Makes me even more excited to go to Crete (flying next week) and make good shots there.
@@aroundthegoodworld I first came back from Heraklio knowing there was so much more to see and try to understand, and 25 years later I'm still visiting and making new connections in your hometown.
Cool video. I didn't know where Palaiokastro entrance is! But, you could not find a fifth thing? come on! You can do better than this! Let's see. Within 15 minutes: 1. Almyros(gorge and river)-Voulismeno Aloni-Keri, or 2. Agia Eirini Spilia, or 3. Karteros Gorge, or 4. Youchtas-Archanes...
Hahaha, true story bro! I had in mind all these places as well but it was intended not to put one of those. As I trully believe that Crete has so much to offer compared to Heraklion. On the other hand, generally I think you're right though! Thanks for the comment 🤘
So how do you like my hometown? Really enjoyed making this one :)

Increíble y magnífica ciudad! Una de las cosas, que he hecho yo gratis en Iraklio, era estudiar en TI Kritis. Una experiencia muy positiva.
