I used this just to show my 4-year-old nephew how his marble machine works. What's funny is that not only was he amazed, but so was I! I'm sure I speak for everyone in saying that we really appreciate all of your videos.
I built one marble pump with a square piston and a built up inner block as my tools are limited and in fact it turned out to be simpler. My Grandson loves it. Mr Wandel, congratulations for your work, you gave the workshop the status it deserves and every school should have such a workshow where children would see such functions and such "wooden logic". I think it is a necessary education in addition to reading and writing and the other acceptive creative arts!
You sir are a Genius... I have watched a lot of your videos sometimes 3-4 times and Love the projects you create and build. Some day I hope to have the shop/shops you have to make things happen... I being a poorboy craftsmen love the idea of making my own tools and I have made a few with inspiration from you thanks for that!
It's not loosing your marbles that is the problem it is all in how you find them. Grin. Thanks for the great video. I'm going to order your plans for this. I make custom furniture and am going to incorporate this into the kids area.
Wow! You are amazing at explaining things with terrific accuracy. my husband and I and 3 of our children sat here enjoying this very much. We love marbles in our house. Thank you for sharing your talents and intelligence with us.
Great Work!! I love your tools I hope you wear a mask when working with wood because I read an article about wood dust causing cancer. Thanks for the tutorials my 6 year old loves your channel.
Seeing all the machinery you use to do this outstanding job, I'm surprised you got all 10 fingers intact! I know a lot of people who lost 2 or 3 fingers in accidents while doing just what you're doing but you seem to take great care and put safety first. Keep up with the good work... it brings fond memories of my childhood, playing with my father...
The input and output holes are at a slight angle because they need to be close together for the piston, but I like them further apart on the top so there's more room between the input and output.
Ah...! That's just brilliant and simple! I've spent some time wondering about how the mechanics of the pump worked. I can't wait to get my hands on some hardware and start experimenting : )
Matthias, many thanks for a very instructional video. I have recently bought your gear software and like it a lot. Just have to get that laser cutter now.
You're one very clever guy.... I love your vids and have now bought some steel 5/8" balls on the wonderful eBay..... That's a world away from ACTUALLY getting stuck in, I know, but I thought to myself, "To start this Great Thing, first one must have balls, preferably balls of steel, glass being what it is". Keep up the good work old son. {:o)
Thank you for sharing this. I'm reminded of Bob Ross (minus the afro): Straight forward and almost meditative information. You make a person want to run out a buy a drill press.
Espectacular!!! muy buen mecanismo. Espero poder copiarlo para mis maquinas de bolitas. Lamentablemente 14 dolares para la economia Argentina es mucho.
Great video Matthias. I really enjoy watching you work and solve problems. I've learned quite a lot actually. Hmmm. Does that mean you're smart or I'm dumb. Probably the latter. Anyway, great work! Cheers.
Like your style my man. All that accurate stuff with the drill - counterpoised with slack handling on the belt sander, along with top-class use of the pocket knife - which looks like you got from your Dad, he from his Dad..... and btw havin loads of fun with your gear generator program. Thanks
MASTER crafsman. You knonw some one is goingto pick this up, make it in china out of cheep plastic and get rich off of your marble racer. I have been into marble racing for years and have a ton of stuff (all plastic) I have a little bit of every brand and style. Ther is nothing out there that stacks on itself like what you have created in your stackable racers. You have made marble LEGO and I want some! My woodworking skill is under par to make them. I wish you well.
Hola Matthias, me gustan bastante tus videos son muy buenos y explicativos a pesar del idioma ,logre hacer mi primer prototipo de la bomba de canicas, pregunta donde puedo obtener los planos ,saludos
That's more a function of what sort of motor you have. The right kind of motor with a gearbox is not that easy to find. And in the marble machine, this one is hand cranked.
In England you can get a very simple motor/gearbox combination from Maplin. They do one with Meccano-spec mount holes, and a multi-ratio gearbox. (you keep or remove elements to pre-set the ratio. Maplin is online.
i finished making a bowl funnel but i had another kid sand the insides while i drilled some holes for tunnels and when i returned the kid had rounded the lip of the bowl and brought down the sides of it, now the marbles just roll out unless angled perfectly, with and against the coriolis effect, Any suggestions?
Quality camerawork and clear audio made this video a refreshing change from a lot of the videos I've looked at today.

I don't know about learning to keep a tidy shop. Tell me when you find out.
I have learned to clean up as far as the camera's sightlines go.
Matthias, you're truly a wonder. I'm amazed by your creativity and resourcefulness!
It's not loosing your marbles that is the problem it is all in how you find them. Grin. Thanks for the great video. I'm going to order your plans for this. I make custom furniture and am going to incorporate this into the kids area.
This is where it all started. Jeez it’s been 13 years

U have some great equipment sir.
My do-it-yourself dad would be jealous.

All of this so he could say that last line.....My hero
I loved watching this, I paid attention all the way through the end :)
I'm reminded of watching the new yankee workshop as a kid on PBS.
i didnt know pliers could cut like that..crazy amount of info in these vids...keep them coming!!!
I've never seen someone so brilliant!!!
The input and output holes are at a slight angle because they need to be close together for the piston, but I like them further apart on the top so there's more room between the input and output.
Awesome. Thanks for making this video... I've been wanting to make a marble pump since i saw your first machine over a year ago.
Ah...! That's just brilliant and simple! I've spent some time wondering about how the mechanics of the pump worked. I can't wait to get my hands on some hardware and start experimenting : )
Incredible work, thanks for sharing that with your viewers!
Wonderful. Always so nice to see every step of the construction. I'm a big fan !
Matt,
Have no worries, your marbles are quite secure in your head. Great job!
Matthias this is really cool. Thanks for showing us these wonderful creations of yours. You must not get a lot of sleep. LOL
Matthias, many thanks for a very instructional video. I have recently bought your gear software and like it a lot. Just have to get that laser cutter now.

Lots of things can be learned, watching the way you work.
that was genuinely fascinating, thankyou :) I'm guessing a well stocked workshop makes everything a little easier too :)
your machines are amazing
I only sell the plans. See link in description.
that's freakin sweet! kudos
I love it, keep it up, I’m running out of things to make 😂!
that sound...... the sound of my childhood.......
Espectacular!!! muy buen mecanismo. Espero poder copiarlo para mis maquinas de bolitas.
Lamentablemente 14 dolares para la economia Argentina es mucho.
Love the fact you work in Metric, Britain thanks you sir.
This is awsome!
Wonderful tutorial.
Great video Matthias. I really enjoy watching you work and solve problems. I've learned quite a lot actually. Hmmm. Does that mean you're smart or I'm dumb. Probably the latter. Anyway, great work! Cheers.

They should place giant under-ground tubes to pump giant-marbles throughout the world, to decrease road traffic.
We can learn too much, watching the way you work
Actually, marbles roll faster in a U shaped track.
THIS IS AMAZZINNGGG
MASTER crafsman.

Cool Video

You learn that sort of stuff from experimenting, not from school.
if u had wood shop in school
matt would be somewhat of a god able to save them if they had to get blueprints so they could build something
That is so cool dude! Must have taken you a while to figure out how to do it in the beginning.
3:30 made my day.
if they make Little Shop of Horrors on Broadway again, u should totally audition
A few dollars more than buying the whole set of plans.
hahaha i love the end. thats incredible.
holy cow dude you are so go at making stuff i tried stuff like what you have done in this vid but i always failed do you have any tips?
can u show how to make the ramp that takes the marbles up and the run were it goes into the pump?
Genius!

very impressive :-)
Can the crank be made of wood instead of a coat hanger piece?
Matthias have you lost your marbles, LOL, Great job as always
man! you are epic!
What's happens if the colum is full and there are no new marbles getting in? Does the entire colums slide again downwards in the moving pump hole?
i finished making a bowl funnel but i had another kid sand the insides while i drilled some holes for tunnels and when i returned the kid had rounded the lip of the bowl and brought down the sides of it, now the marbles just roll out unless angled perfectly, with and against the coriolis effect, Any suggestions?
read the article for answers to your questions.
Try bending some coathanger wires with your fingers.
Very Nice.....are you using Pine, Burch or Poplar...or...?
that's awesome
