She wrote it and sang from the heart. Thank goodness you're still here. I would love for you and Barbra to reunite and sing that song one more time. It's a timeless masterpiece.
Oh, my goodness! I am a fan of Faye Dunaway films. Through the years I would recall the guitar and piano from the radio version of that track. Since I am not a fan of BS, I ignored the song, yet the guitar and piano studio arrangements always streamed through my mind. Music will do that. Recently, I looked up this magnificent song. My goodness Miss Karen, your eyes and singing is absolutely stunning! I was hearing the guitar and strings along with your gorgeous singing and WOW...I was a prisoner of good pure energy for a few minutes listening to you. Thank you for your awesome talent!!!!
This Woman is a Rock Star..Hand's Down...God definitely gave this girl a Gift...and with no Hesitation...She ran with it...I Love U Karen Lawrence...U ROCK!!!
timeless........ this woman still has one of the best female voices i've ever heard. still absolutely beautiful as well. a truly gorgeous talented woman.
Love ❤️ Aunt Karen, absolutely beautiful. Always been one of my favorites but you singing your song. Love love love ❤️ hearing you sing this song with just you and your piano. 😉 AMAZING. and wow you are so so. BEAUTIFUL. YOU HAVE THE PRETTIEST EYES!,,,,
greetings from Canada!! I just heard about, and watched "Eyes of Laura Mars" for the first time! WOW! Now, I'll admit, I've had a crush on Faye Dunaway for several years now, and Im an avid fan of Victor Kemper (the cinematographer), but I was not prepared for the "Prisoner" song at the end!! What a great composition Karen! God Loves you.
The album "Girls Night Out" by Karen Lawrence & the Pinz from 1981 is one of the lost classics of its time. I play it on the weekly radio show I do whenever I can. Thanks for sticking around, Karen. xo
Tasty. Haunting. The world needs you back on stage. The blues scene needs you back. Never forget old days at Friar Tucks, Pomona Much love from Cucamonga
First thing I ever heard your amazing voice on back when I was a radio DJ…and I said “who the f*ck is THAT?” I actually hunted you down in NY in the early ‘80s and called you, trying to get you to replace our departing singer, just as you were starting your Pinz project. Still love your voice!
Thank you, my dear Ms. Lawrence, for bringing back so many great memories of all your Blue By Nature shows I was privileged to attend in So. Cal. and even Reno ! You are a truly distinctive talent, and every show back then, starting with Rick on lead to all the succeeding guitarists, was an amazing experience that I have cherished. This rendition of "Prisoner" brought many tears to my eyes, and it is so good to see you again, even if just on a video. Love ya, babe...
I read the credits seconds after posting!! Thanks for writing and singing this wonderful song!!! Your voice, and your own eyes have, no doubt, been the subject of a few songs out there! Thank you for your talents!
Ok, so I logged into RUclips after stumbling on to this just to tell you thank you and how incredible, as well as special, for you to share this and your story in the video description. Karen, your song has been one of my favorites since I saw that movie about 15 or 20 yrs ago. That movie was a wild ride, mixed with a love story, a lot of tense scenes, and good acting. Now days the entertainment industry honestly doesn't have good writers, good story lines, or much of good anything. I rarely watch any TV because it's just not cool anymore. I think the last time I went to the movies to see something that seemed to be somewhat interesting and intelligently written was 4 yrs ago? It was so so. You wrote an incredible song and you performed it beautifully. I wonder if something inspired you to write it and somehow find those perfect notes and chords. Thank you so much for sharing. The music industry isn't what it once was, either. I absolutely love a lot women's fashion, women's hair styles, and music from the 70s. I think they were cool as hell. Probably the best era for movies and music. Thankfully, my mp3 player takes me there all the time.
Is this the same Karen Lawrence from the band 1994? Emotion control, emotion....you've got me standing by... Attitude readjustment ready and counting please comply? Wow so great to see her still singing with that unmistakable voice...
Wow, I bought the 1994 album because I liked the black sports car on the album cover! I was very surprised at the music within! Still listening almost 40 years later...
I have always thought Karen one of the greatest talents. Did you know she is a top ventriloquist too? I tried to be her manager, RCA asked me to try, but I failed. She left NYC and headed to wail the blues in LA. She is like the talent embodied in my LostConcert.com series. Karen, if you are watchin, you are still the best!
