    It’s amazing how fast this race has taken, 66-67 days to circumnavigate the globe! Wow, my hat is off to all the skippers for doing an amazing job, cheers and thanks!

    Just amazing cinematography of Conrad changing sails. Justine is sailing so well, we are all so proud of her. The time at the finish is so impressive, just awe inspiring.

    Nice coverage and it's going to be a great finish for Charlie! Enjoyed watching Conrad peel to the J3, wrestling with the giant sail snake while skimming the ocean one gets a sense of the hard work all these sailors are doing to keep their boats moving at warp speed.

    What excitement! It’s fascinating to watch the 2016-17 record demolished (everlasting honors to Armel Le Clèac’h 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉, favorite Ultim solo sea traveler); watching this VG from departure there was a feeling that Charlie Dalin would collect his first place - he was on a mission and he’s earned it in spades, Congratulations! With 7 hours difference it will be great to watch the arrival around 11pm then will set the loudest alarm to watch his most excellent adversary Yoann Richomme; there are not enough superlatives to commend all the competitors, enjoying a peek of their personalities from video reports, their day-to-day managing of sea and weather, and OMG! those impossible repairs, viewing inside of their awesome machines, I worry about their food supply or if they got sick; yes, abandon rules are clear but it would be nice to know how Yannick is doing, I see Maitre Coq on the tracker, otherwise wonderful reporting, thank you.

    I always think of Vibrac paprec's problems in the last stretch, and all the problems with fishing nets, other boats.... May Dalin arrive unimpeded

    Thanks for the great updates! Just one comment: could you also add a ranking of the daggerboard boats? We just hear that Jean is leading, but what is with the others?
    Rgds,

    • @Sail-World
      @Sail-World  День назад +1

      As the daggerboard boats come closer to the finish yes, I will be talking about them more. There isn't a separate 'class' as such for them, but they are distinguished in the ranking at www.vendeeglobe.org/en/ranking by not having the little red foil 'tick' beside them.

    It currently looks like Dalin would be there by 6:30am France Time. Is @Sail-World going to do a Live Broadcast of his arrival?

      We aren't, but the official Vendee Globe RUclips channel is. The link is ruclips.net/video/4U4db0UA9y8/видео.html which I've added to the Community section of this channel as a post.

    Many J2 issues this edition. Do you think this is a weakness in the Imoca setup?

    The flyover of Dalin’s sailboat showed no room for deck lounging cushions.

    Now that it seems Charlie Dalin is going to win, perhaps you could try to pronounce his name correctly please!

    • @Sail-World
      @Sail-World  День назад +3

      As far as I'm aware, and having listened to many others pronouncing his name, I believe I am pronouncing it correctly now.

    • @keithbeck2777
      @keithbeck2777 День назад

      The French language reports would disagree. Dalin is pronounced DalAN, to rhyme with Alain. I got pulled up by a French friend for mispronouncing the word 'copin' which means buddy or chum. This too is correctly pronounced copAN. The feminine version 'copine' is pronounced as it looks. So by comparison, Charlie would need an e on the end of his name to make your current pronunciation correct. Your reports are valuable and greatly appreciated btw. Sorry to carp!

    • @Flight8
      @Flight8 16 часов назад +2

      Why being so fussy about that?
      If the English are covering the race on their channel, I'm very thankful to listen . If that's not fine with you, please try a french show or covering, you get the names perfectly well pronounced 😂.
      Thanks for the daily updates and the profound background information, I apreciate it very much! Best regards from Germany 😊

    I miss the Globe Vendee where technology was minimal and the human factor was much more present
    Now it seems like a walk in the park compared to the others
    But they are safer, it seems like a walk in the park with interviews to satisfy the sponsors
    Very disappointed

    • @matteosanna901
      @matteosanna901 22 часа назад +1

      There is always a strong appreciation for those who came before and completed the round with no AIS or Starlink or any foils. However, it's pointless to resist progress here.. these guys have been averaging 20kn of speed, how can you not need more technology with such high speeds? Or do you mean that you want the boats to stay slow? Haha
      Sorry I get the thing with being constantly connected, it's not really a psychological test of alone time anymore, but from my side I love that I can see all that stuff without having to do a Vendee Globe myself

      Bro, not one video that I‘ve seen of this race looked like a walk in the park, what are you talking about?? Yes, it is safer now, which is a good thing. Yes, technology has made it possible to finish faster. But the physical and psychological strength to pull such a race off on your own with all of the things that still go wrong along the way and the knowledge required to push these yachts to their limits - I‘d like you to put on their shoes and then we‘ll see if you still have such a big mouth 😂
