You know back in the eighties, big kids were notorious for using little kids to do all kinds of things. If we wanted permission for something, you get a little kid to ask the adults. The almost always got the yes. I think that was a play on the interactions between little kids and us. Idk why there was such an age gap with so many families back then but most of us have siblings old or young enough to be our parent/child. I'm the elder with two siblings who are my peers and two who, I call, my babies😊. I thoroughly enjoyed this game. I hope they release other iconic themed kingdom games in the future.

@@Adkit2 Lol bit of an exaggeration. Good game design isn't always about adding, sometimes it's subtracting or just balancing things out. I thought it all worked brilliantly. They said from the start that this is a new standalone spinoff, so they were clearly going for something different.
Well, sir, congrats and welcome to your rebirth. I am really enjoying the kingdom series and this one, eighties, was really a warm respectful nod to those days. I was born in '71 and the 80s is my growing up years from preteen to young adult and this was a really nice nod. I really enjoy how all the kingdoms, while similar, are different enough for me to have to use unique skills for each one. I'm still making my way through most while I've beaten some. I'm working on Norselands. I interrupted the two crowns gameplay when eighties came out. I was not disappointed. I do have much to say about this one development that maybe I'll do a review as well. Thank you for reviewing this.
To be fair, The Surge isn't modern, it's sci-fi. Maybe near future, but I'm pretty sure there aren't mostly cybernetic super humans running around. The problem with a modern day Souls is that you'd need a pretty good justification why the protagonist isn't just fighting with guns. And I'm not sure you could just make Souls with guns, purely ranged combat doesn't feel in keeping with those kinds of mechanics. Remnant: From the Ashes is close, though, so maybe there could be something leaning on those mechanics but with less horror/sci-fi flavor and more just real world being invaded by monsters flavor.

I think Kingdom is a great game, but i'm always disappointed that their dlc and this new game are basically just reskins of the base game, feels a little cheap
Pretty decent game. Aside from cutscenes, pretty much a reskin of the older game with not much new mechanics, but why fix something that isn't broken? Finished it in 1 evening though
I feel like they put a lot of effort into each new game, but the effort is never in the gameplay, but rather the aesthetic. If you look at the first kingdom game and compare it to this, this is so much better looking, but doesn’t really have all that much more substance. It’s still the same core gameplay loop with very little depth, and each time it is priced at full price. I love the base idea of the game, and the visuals are pretty clean, but I just can’t justify buying the full game again for such little difference in gameplay.

I really loved the look of this game and enjoyed watching NL play this one, so naturally he’ll never play it again.
