Hands-On with IWC's new Big Pilot's Watch 43 Ref. 3293 (2021) - a PuristS' choice?

- During Watches & Wonders 2021, IWC presented a 43 mm version of its iconic aviation-themed watch, the Big Pilot's Watch 43.
Slotting precisely in the middle between the 46mm Big Pilot and the 40 mm Mark XVIII, the '43' also is the purest of them all - with just hours, minutes and a large centre second, and very littel 'literature' on the dial.
Other than that, the watch comes with all recent IWC features such as the new 8xxxx family automatic movement or the EasX-CHANGE strap system.
IWC stressed wearing comfort during the presentation, and we'll see how this holds up in practice.

I agree with your view that the clasp on the leather strap makes for uncomfortable wearing.
I own this watch. The easx-change clasp supplied with the leather band became unsecure and unsafe when I fitted it to the IWC rubber strap, in my view, it was not fit for purpose. IWC agreed to swap the easx clasp for a standard fixed deployment. Now that I use the standard IWC deployant, both the leather and rubber straps wear a lot more comfortably (and securely). I was struggling to bond with the watch, as originally supplied, but now I completely love it.

What exactly do you mean? You replaced the deployant clasp with a Pin Buckle ? is it that?
@marcod.r.3299 IWC swapped the EasX deployant, which can be disassembled in a few seconds for a non EasX deployant that needs a spring bar to be used when swapping straps. So I guess it's the same deployant that is used on the standard Big Pilot 46, not a pin buckle.
These are one of the nicest watches released in years in person.

Hello. I may have missed it, but may I ask: what's your wrist size?
The IWC-logo is upside down, because you did install the strap upside down. You have to install this exactly the other way around.

Good review. I have it on the fantastic steel bracelet. Still have to order the leather strap, i think i prefer the brown. Looks indeed very hard and uncomfortable, but looks like you are wearing it too loose? Clasp is very convenient on the 7-days portugieser, should be the same here
I guess it very much depends on your specific wrist. For me at least it does not match nicely.

Hi, reverse the strap it will fix the issue, actually you fixed the strap in a wrong way.

I watched the review again, at first the leather strap was fixed in the correct way, you fixed it in reverse on the watch after removing the bracelet.
Lovely watch, but you have the strap on the wrong way round.
My speakers are on max volume, yet I didn't understand a word you were saying.
Sorry for the late reply - we just tried - fine here. Please note that there are two colume controls which play a role: your overal computer/smartphone volume setting and youtube's volume contol in the control bar at the bottom of the video.
