He also uses truth to sow that mistrust, he deduced that Sora helped Arin out and did not tell him, so by using the truth and showing he was living a lie, he grew even more distrustful and Ras even somehow knew Wu was connected to the cause of the merge, thus resulting in Arin losing more faith.
One more thing to add, he manipulated Bleckt by using his own insecurity that Roby will ruin the Tournament of the Sources, by making a deal in rigging the games in their favor, Ras will make him the new Games Master, which was of course a lie,
Lord raz is one of the franchise's best villains now if I'm being honest. The 11 minute era villains were good enough but none of them really had the punch or charm that the original era had. We had kalmar who was fantastic at what he was but was also just pythor but a squid. With Lord raz he honestly feels like a stronger villain than over 90% of them. The way he's manipulating everyone and potentially getting Arin to betray the ninja is a villain we haven't really seen since Chen. I'm really excited to see where they take his story in season 2 part 2 and beyond.
He's kinda like death from puss in boots, he doesn't have a lot of depth (as of now), but he's very awsome and intimidating and you love to see him on screen.
what I like about how he manipulates Beatrix is the fact he isn't lying to Beatrix in the same way someone like vex was lying to the ice emperor (even though he did keep information about his master and his further plans a secret) he tells Beatrix about how capturing dragons will be a better way to get power for imperium and Lord Ras also appeals to her insecurities about never getting the throne and helps her murder her father and blame her sister. he doesn't exactly lie he appeals and aligns his goals with the goals of other people and uses them.
Not lying is a bad, goody two shoes trait. He doesn't *needlessly* lie. When he can get by by telling the truth, why lie? Lying makes you stronger now, but weaker later. He's very intelligent
7:36 No wonder Ras is of such a high opinion on Shatterspin even if he can't perform it himself - it's literally a martial art equivalent of his worldview.
Yeah what I find interesting about where we are rn is that the Ninja and Ras' Clan are basically evenly matched now. Which is so intriguing to me as we've basically never seen that before
It seems to be a trend that Ninjago's best villains are manipulators, Pythor, Harumi and Ras all specualise in it, while Ras' manipulations aren't nearly as sadistic as Harumi's, it's still interesting to see a show explore how bad actors can exploit and manipulate lost and confused people into doing their bidding. I find Ras' most interesting scene to be when he demolished Eryn, he gives a monologue about strength and then leaves Eryn alive and uncaptured, even implying he would have the chance to be stronger in the future. Ras doesn't try to recruit him or anything, it genuinely seems like Ras sees something of himself in Eryn and left him free in the hopes he would some day be "saved" like he was. I also think that's an interesting direction for Eryn's character, he failed to do the rising dragon because he was relying on strength, and he never learned his lesson, his fear also seems to be being too weak to save his parents and his desire is to become strong by being a ninja, it's very possible he's on the same path as Ras and will have to contend with that some day.
As soon as I saw his first appearance in Season 1, I immediately knew this dude was gonna cause some trouble. But I didn’t think he’d be this big of a threat! He’s everything I wanted Garmadon to be in the first 2 seasons of Ninjago. Someone who’s not afraid to take matters into his own hands. And when he has a target, he does not play around. Especially in episode 9 where he threw Jordana for failing him and decimated Arin. He is so freaking awesome!
When I first saw him, I thought that he was just going to be another regular brute, but the later episodes had me so wrong. He is probably Ninjago’s BEST villain!
3:24 Using the phrase "true potential" which has been consistantly used to describe the pick of an elemental master's abilities in regards to elementless Beatrix who has an inferiority complex against two elemental masters! Well played, Ras, well played.
Not only does lord ras manipulate beatrix and jordana but we also see him start doing it to Nokt aswell. During the ending of DR s2 pt1 instead of letting nokt talk down to him, he instantly asserts his dominance by putting that weird controlling shock thing on nokt. im assuming ras can just use that whenever nokt acts out. He made it clear he wasn’t going to be used and thrown away after freeing the forbidden 5, he clearly was ready for them to be freed and he was going to make sure they followed him. As Ras says, “I expect loyalty” He isn’t playing around this time. It honestly excites me seeing lord Ras act so powerful like this. proving he is a good villain and how he can get his way in a matter of seconds is so nice and refreshing to see on screen and especially in ninjago. there has been quite a debatable cast of villians but im so intrigued by Ras. he wasnt all that in s1 but so far s2 is doing great things for his character and i cant wait to see what happens next, dragons rising has been so good and im sure they wont disappoint! Amazing video! keep up the good work ^_^ 🔥‼️
also adding onto myself lol- not saying ras was bad in s1, im saying we see more of him in s2 which further developed him and explained many things that happened IN s1. And ive heard theories about arin going bad because of Ras. Honestly i cant say i disagree with this theory. i think id be a cool concept and it would make sence. If it got revealed to arin that sora helped him do object spinjitzu it would lower his confidence a ton! Not only his confidence but his trust with sora and maybe even the other ninja’s as well. This makes arin feel real powerless. Already lord ras has gotten ahold of one of his biggest insecurities and weaknesses. If this theory is correct then thats already another instance of lord ras and his manipulation. like i said he isnt playing around. i love this serious and more dramatic tone in the show ugh! so good 😭🔥
Yknow what I wish? Arin choosing to save his parents in the MergeQuakes instead of his Ninja friends. Not only would it be super tragic, but it would also be like the moment from S2 Ep20 of Avatar: The last airbender with Zuko I love characters getting the lives they've always wanted, only to realize that its not what they want
The way Ras just instantly screws over Nokt is so amazing. It reminds me of when Garmadon ripped Mr E apart. Having your villain beat up a different powerful and intimidating villain is such a great way to make me scared of him lol. Ty for the comment! :)
What I’ve noticed about Ras’ manipulation is how it’s almost similar to Harumi’s in Sons of Garmadon. Both manipulate their targets to get exactly what they wanted, in Ras’ case, is to bring back the Forbidden Five, in Harumi’s case is to bring back Garmadon and both will do whatever it takes to get that goal
@@BvelociraptorProductions Not really, Harumi and Ras manipulate in different ways. Ras is trying to prey on insecurities Harumi's a femme fatale, using her beauty to trick Lloyd into gaining his and his friends' trust.
@@QUBIQUBED Not really. Ras was been able to manipulate Beatrix who was been able to manipulate most if not all Imperians from Beatrix's coup to We Are All Dragons, this is very big IQ feat, Harumi was been only able to manipulate Lloyd and P.I.X.A.L.
Since Harumi needed Lloyd's trust the most, she focused on him the most (He's the only oni of the ninja). She not only used her beauty to pull Lloyd in, she also made a connection between them about their struggles with responsibility
I agree, even if he released all 5 members of the Forbidden Five, they have clashing goals, Ras's being in conquering the Source Dragons through the Tournament of the Sources by forging Dragon Icons while the Five just want to conquer and destroy all realms with no one holding them back. In their minds, they are in charge, not Ras, and they have no insecurities, so Ras will do what is necessary to keep them in check.
After thinking about it, you and Lord Ras seem to have many similarities. One of them being excellent manipulation skills to obtain world domination. That's sick 🔥
I think an even better Star Wars analogy is that Ras has the animalistic tendencies and crazy strength of Savage, with the manipulative and always scheming mind of Maul. He is literally a combination of the Dathomir brothers!
Even killing him off like that would be awesome. I had this one idea last night where there won't be a long show of a battle but a short one with a deep meaning instead. Like Arin and Ras or smth if u get what I mean
Great analysis Crusty! Ngl going into season 2, I was a bit concerned with his character and threat level due to Ras technically already being beaten by the ninja (Sora and Arin). But I’m really happy with his character so far in season 2. He’s very patient, manipulative, and cunning. He’s very dangerous and yet he doesn’t feel extremely overpowered. I’d really like to see how he “motivated” Cinder to join his side and I look forward to see what he does next.
absolutely amazing video crusty - really loved this one, super analysis. I so enjoyed watching it, Ras is such a compelling villain I'm excited to see where he goes as well. Some other notes on this character: although they dont draw attention to it directly, Ras does have other tiger-ish traits! like him being a fast runner (he caught up to arin who was DRIVING) and his ability to jump really high (tigers can jump like 30ft iirc). I'm surprised you didn't bring up Arin who I'm pretty certain is going to be the next target of Ras' manipulation after their e9 fight. I think there's some insane potential for a team-up there: Ras picks up on Arin's insecurities and after the latter finds out Sora "helped" him do Object Spinjitzu, he's going right back to where he was in s2 - questioning his place on the team, feeling like he's not good enough. Ras can specifically exploit this and offer him a chance to grow stronger and to rid himself of his "goodness" using the gong, that which they both think holds him back. Arin isn't evil though: he's just a kid who wants to measure up to his heroes, and teaming up with Ras would, to him, be the only way to get on their level; by taking a shortcut. I'm sure that they'll call off their teamup eventually and fight again: but I hope that Arin continues to get bodied by Ras; he never actually wins against him. I don't think a good way to end Arin's arc is by having him beat Ras in a physical fight: all that would do is prove his point, being that Arin was weak and now he's strong enough to beat Ras. So, in that way, strength really would be the only thing that matters. I'd love it if Arin uses his goodness, the very thing he thought made him weak, to defeat Ras - by convincing him to change his ways and see that there is more to life than being strong. I think that would be a meaningful way to round out both their characters. Anyway, I think I am getting ahead of myself. Great stuff as always!
Lord Ras really has the potential to be the next Garmadon 👀 Arin possibly being the next who gets manipulated by Ras would be pretty interesting. His whole monolouge about strenght could lead Arin directly in his hands. What I'm thinking is, will Ras' view about strenght being the most important part of life be changed in the future? Maybe when he's defeated by the Ninja? And if so, will he turn against his master? Is he redeemable? And if the Ninja change his view, how are they supposed to change that view in the first place? They only defeated Ras via a secret, strong power. Shouldn't that prove his point?
Not only does Ras manipulate Jordana and Beatrix he also starts with Arin in episode 9 we see he prays on his insecurities on not getting better as a ninja and tells him the solution is strength and to find a master who could teach him that which is what he does with Beatrix and Jordana
Amazing analysis! This was very entertaining. Lord Ras has quickly became one of my favorite Ninjago Villians, he is definitely in my top 5 now. Even though his motivations are somewhat simple, he is one of the most intimidating characters by far with how he manipulates others, and his absolute drive for power. He isn’t afraid to take things into his own hands to get more power. The thing that makes him intimidating is how grounded and realistic he feels since his power is mostly just physical strength which makes him more even with the ninja. Like you mentioned in the vid, his tiger-like design and voice really elevate his character.
Honestly I gotta thank you for this vid, I'm currently working of a ninjago villains retrospective and seeing how you've analyzed raz has made me understand how the other villains can be analyzed better
Ras is arguably better than some of the original Ninjago villains. Not someone like Garmadon, but definitely better than Samukai or Yang. But I love Yang though.
I wonder if his master “opened his eyes” in a sense as the flash back has yellow eyes while current Ras has red. Signifying him before and after in a small way
Ok so hear me out, this means that Cinder was at an incredibly low point when Ras found him. Which explains why he is so obsessed with proving Ras that he is powerful. Because Cinder wants More power! If you can’t tell, I like Cinder and am dying to know his backstory
@@QUBIQUBED me to. For some reason my brain is just going, "I bet Cinder killed him because that's how elemental powers are passed down. Totally" I know I'm wrong but my one braincell wants me to think that.
I Absolutely Love Lord Ras So Much He’s Such An Amazing, Fantastic and Awesome Villain I’m Absolutely Excited To Watch More Of Him in Ninjago Dragons Rising Season 2 Part 2 and in The Future of Dragons Rising if He’s Still Alive After Season 2 PS The Lord Ras VS Lloyd Fight in Season 2 Episode 10 Rising Ninja was Absolutely Awesome and Amazing I Loved it So Much Lord Ras Is One of The Best Villains in The Entire Ninjago Franchise in my Opinion🔥😈🔥
U just made me realise something, in ep 9 s2 he trash talks and beats the hell outta arin, but at the same time he’s manipulating him, for power, for strength, and all things like that. In ep 2 s2 Sora points out how Arin can be easily manipulated so this could be a hint to something in the future🫠
I was wondering when you'd make a Ras related video! Although, I thought it would be something like "Why Lord Ras is a FANTASTIC antagonist" or "How To Write a Terrifying Villain: Lord Ras".
Ras is a great villain and he has no comedic moments and is always considered pure evil and serious even though he’s actually a broken villain when he was abandoned as a child
I think an inspiration for Lord Ras is TMNT’s Tiger Claw. Their personalities and traits are so similar. They are loyal and valued by their masters no matter the circumstances.
why is no one talking about how lord ras is animated dude! the orignal series, the oni's face were not well animated and they honestly looked like clowns but the moments I saw how is face is animated I fell in love with his animation dude
Ras is probably one of my new favorite villains aside Garmadon and the Overlord. He’s super manipulative and knows when to and when not to act on his own end of the bargain.
He is awesome, the only thing I'd like from him is to see more power. He's very strong and smart, but that can only get him so far, when surrounded by powerful people.
Not that far into the show, but Ras's first action scene brilliantly presents him as a threat. he literally beats Sora and Aron's asses to the ground, and gets the dragon (which was his main objective). That's more than almost any other villain in their opening scene. Ofc lloyd saves them and he ends up failing but maybe that's bc he wasn't there.
Imagine if lord ras' master is the source dragon of strength which tasks ras to defeat cole to prove that he is his true decendant or sm like that over cole
So,lord ras i think is manipuleted by his master(which i think is human eagalth trained) i think he will betray his master and work with ninjas to stop him but he isnt good no no,he just works with them because he finds it as best way fir himself
Dumb idea but we do know Chima is a Realm in Ninjago ssssooo.... what if Ras is from Chima?? I know its a joke but we do know Chima exists and this would literally be the perfect chance to bring back Chima. Just an idea
I think Ras is alright so far. Not my favorite ninjago villain (I think Nadakhan is hands down the best of villain the show has ever had) but he is far from the worst. I’m really not sure how to feel about him because so much is unknown. It’s entirely possible there will be a writing decision later in the show that completely ruins him as a villain. I’m not saying that’s going to happen but it is a possibility. Once Ras and his story come to an end I will be able to make much more of an opinion on him because as of now, I’m just kind of neutral on the guy but there is a ton of potential for me to really like him later on if the show plays its cards right
In my opinion Ras is the best villain ninjago has ever had since Garmadon, Chen, Nadakhan, Harumi and Morro because of his threatening and manipulative nature
Is it me but Beatrix is evil Sora I mean both were rejected by their parents except one accepted this in a good way the other accepted this in a terrible and dark way
S2 is what made me like him. Realising that the Ninjago producers are absolutely obsessed with this one guy specifically is what made me warm up to him. Think its very funny how he keeps showing up
@@Crusty783I just feel like they shouldn't have done the whole thing where he's forcing people to train at his so called school. I think they could've done something cooler by making him help Lord Ras because he still owes him for preventing him being arrested.

Ras is so close to beating morro, im ngl. Definitely the best character they introduced in dragons rising
I wonder if his master “opened his eyes” in a sense as the flash back has yellow eyes while current Ras has red. Signifying him before and after in a small way
After its been confirmed that jay is evil in part 2, this video makes a lot of sense because ras could easily manipulate jay to his side
Ok so hear me out, this means that Cinder was at an incredibly low point when Ras found him. Which explains why he is so obsessed with proving Ras that he is powerful. Because Cinder wants More power!
If you can’t tell, I like Cinder and am dying to know his backstory
Wonder what happened to Ash...
@@QUBIQUBED me to. For some reason my brain is just going, "I bet Cinder killed him because that's how elemental powers are passed down. Totally" I know I'm wrong but my one braincell wants me to think that.
@@QUBIQUBED
I think Doc Wyatt or another writer confirmed that he’s dead.
Lord rass is the Best character Ninjago could add to the franchise at this particular moment
the next person on the list is gonna be arin :o
Man, we haven’t had these type of tier-level Ninjago villains in for-*EVER* and I’m glad to see Roz gaining a spot on that roster!
This may probably sound like an exaggeration, but imo Ras is the best villain they introduced since season 5.
Great vid Crusty! Good to see this conversation getting started since it’s such a cool topic
Crusty’s thumbnails are so good, the border, and the main focus being so distinct just looks incredible
thank you! :) the thumbnails are something ive spent a long while trying to get right
I Absolutely Love Lord Ras So Much He’s Such An Amazing, Fantastic and Awesome Villain I’m Absolutely Excited To Watch More Of Him in Ninjago Dragons Rising Season 2 Part 2 and in The Future of Dragons Rising if He’s Still Alive After Season 2 PS The Lord Ras VS Lloyd Fight in Season 2 Episode 10 Rising Ninja was Absolutely Awesome and Amazing I Loved it So Much Lord Ras Is One of The Best Villains in The Entire Ninjago Franchise in my Opinion🔥😈🔥
Since you compared Beatrix to Palpatine, maybe we can compare her killing Emperor Levo to Palpatine killing Plagueis.
Lord ras is such a good viallian
Bruh, the video style is like TheRealJims!
I like it, you should do more like this.
Good eye! The editing style I was trying to go for in this vid was heavily inspired by EmpLemon and TheRealJims. I love their vids a ton
@@Crusty783 Yeah, I love watching them both too.
Now compare the ras and arin manipulation scenes in s2 p2
Goated video once again 🗣️
Also why Ras keep targeting Anger teens tho?😅
ty!!
They're easy targets
Lord ras is one of the best villains in all of Ninjago
Ras is a great villain and he has no comedic moments and is always considered pure evil and serious even though he’s actually a broken villain when he was abandoned as a child
I think an inspiration for Lord Ras is TMNT’s Tiger Claw. Their personalities and traits are so similar. They are loyal and valued by their masters no matter the circumstances.
why is no one talking about how lord ras is animated dude! the orignal series, the oni's face were not well animated and they honestly looked like clowns but the moments I saw how is face is animated I fell in love with his animation dude
I can tell his master will be a golden celestial being maybe it will be called the Alpha or something else
Great video! I hope Was sticks around till at least season three.
Lord Rays is probably my favorite villain of the entire Ninjago franchise.
Can we get a counter for the amount of times Ras beat up Riyu?
Yes! Crusty lord ras vid! All i could've wished for!
goat🔥🔥🔥
This is a dope video idea
ty!
Hearing Raz say "True Potential" is enough to put him in S tier.
He's the best villain. He's like if the iron baron were good.
I think both are great characters, but Ras is absolutely better
@@Crusty783 The iron Baron is kinda bland. He's just a generic villain. Ras has substance.
@@BvelociraptorProductionsIron Baron Is just the struggle the ninja need before they can get back to helping loyld
@@BiscuitisCool He's a filler villain.
@@BvelociraptorProductions Yeah he's not the greatest but he's necessary for Wu's development.
Ras is probably one of my new favorite villains aside Garmadon and the Overlord. He’s super manipulative and knows when to and when not to act on his own end of the bargain.
I cant wait for the *Ras Master Minifigure*
Ras so far is fantastic,He is well written and menesing, can't wait to see his complete backstory
Top tier Ninjago villain overall
He is awesome, the only thing I'd like from him is to see more power. He's very strong and smart, but that can only get him so far, when surrounded by powerful people.
Lord Raz is the Garmadon of Dragons Rising. He’s not a hero but he’s willing to fight alongside the ninja if needed.
Man I feel like Ras is my fav Ninjago villain now.
Lord Ras is an awesome villain. He's better than the Overlord. Guess he's the new Dark Lord
You said beatrix is Ras's first onscreen manipulation, imagine we get a flashback to the first person ras ruined
Wish they brought the hammer from the sets in the show so much better
Not that far into the show, but Ras's first action scene brilliantly presents him as a threat. he literally beats Sora and Aron's asses to the ground, and gets the dragon (which was his main objective). That's more than almost any other villain in their opening scene. Ofc lloyd saves them and he ends up failing but maybe that's bc he wasn't there.
I think Ras' master is the Overlord
Imagine if lord ras' master is the source dragon of strength which tasks ras to defeat cole to prove that he is his true decendant or sm like that over cole
why would lord ras give a crap about cole?
@@QUBIQUBED because cole is the source dragon of strengths descendant just like lloyd is the source dragon of life's
This is edited exactly like a therealjims video :0
Ras tossed arin around 😭🙏
💔💔
So,lord ras i think is manipuleted by his master(which i think is human eagalth trained) i think he will betray his master and work with ninjas to stop him but he isnt good no no,he just works with them because he finds it as best way fir himself
crusty do you let it crust or do you wipe
That's classified information. Level 10 clearance needed.
I thought he was a wolf 😭😭
Did he manipulated me if I wanted him to win and think he is the best character from ninjago dragons rising?
Thats why hes The Goat
Ras is palpatine confirm?
Little Ras is so cute idc anymore 🥺
@@QUBIQUBED he’s a baby tiger stuck in a hole. He is cute
I feel like Ras is going to betray his master and 1 defeat him, becoming the ultimate bad, or 2 team up with the ninja to defeat his master
Number one will be the reasonable option, why would he team up with a ninja?
@@恩陶梁 people change, and Ras has a possibility for redemtion.
I could maybe see the betraying since in the source Dragon set he's controlling the source Dragon
But the second one I can't see happening
Dumb idea but we do know Chima is a Realm in Ninjago ssssooo.... what if Ras is from Chima?? I know its a joke but we do know Chima exists and this would literally be the perfect chance to bring back Chima. Just an idea
I mean, certain people can do these attributes like walking on all four and growling (ahem furries)
i like raas but in season 1 he got his ass packed by newbies arin and sora
Asking again to make one video on lego monkie kid
Wait who’s Jordanna?
I think Ras is alright so far. Not my favorite ninjago villain (I think Nadakhan is hands down the best of villain the show has ever had) but he is far from the worst. I’m really not sure how to feel about him because so much is unknown. It’s entirely possible there will be a writing decision later in the show that completely ruins him as a villain. I’m not saying that’s going to happen but it is a possibility. Once Ras and his story come to an end I will be able to make much more of an opinion on him because as of now, I’m just kind of neutral on the guy but there is a ton of potential for me to really like him later on if the show plays its cards right
Ras become my favorite villian
hes rising up my lait rapidly! such a great character
In my opinion Ras is the best villain ninjago has ever had since Garmadon, Chen, Nadakhan, Harumi and Morro because of his threatening and manipulative nature
The fuck? Thats like, 5 villains. Make up your mind man
Ras is like a better better version of Vex. Both being the power behind the throne. Who manipulation some to take over a kingdom
i think they're both amazing for different reasons!
Vex didn't have time to breathe tbh, thats why 11 min episodes arent good
@@ibrahimy8805
“Vex didn’t have time to breathe”
That’s gotta be the best Vex roast ever.
Is it me but Beatrix is evil Sora
I mean both were rejected by their parents except one accepted this in a good way the other accepted this in a terrible and dark way
Season 2 ruined Darama
S2 is what made me like him. Realising that the Ninjago producers are absolutely obsessed with this one guy specifically is what made me warm up to him. Think its very funny how he keeps showing up
@@Crusty783I just feel like they shouldn't have done the whole thing where he's forcing people to train at his so called school. I think they could've done something cooler by making him help Lord Ras because he still owes him for preventing him being arrested.
i like lord ras the great and best lego ninjago villain since nadakhan from lego ninjago season 6 skybound
