I've been getting alot of questions as to if this video is a repost of the June 2022 Mechanic analysis video - it isn't. This video is best viewed as a revisit of that video, updated with the Mechanic stuff that dropped since that video's release. It is a completely ground up different video though, and you can find a link to that video in this pinned comment if you'd like to compare the two for yourself: ruclips.net/video/ytlXq4xB2nk/видео.htmlsi=V43DiK3LDvN1vZ7W
This is why I love animating The Mechanic in my animations. He’s just a guy who loves causing chaos and takes pleasure in it. And you gotta be a top-tier criminal for The Overlord to want you on his villain team.
fact that the mechanic started off as a side antagonist with only a few minutes of screentime then eventually turned into a fan-favorite just proves more that mechanic IS a solid character. really loved him in prime empire and crystalized (the mechanic carried crystalized⁉️) im also happy that he returned in dragons rising lol
That crystalized rant gave me an idea. What if instead of mocking Nya for her lack of powers the mechanic actually kept on encouraging her to get back up and continue the fight? Not only would it be great for his characterisation, but the idea of him wanting to fight Nya more than ever now that they're evenly matched is really fun.
I think it made perfect sense to pair up Nya and the Mechanic in the Crystalized villain-hero rivalries, since both of them were powerless but could still do cool things, but then they had to go and decide that actually Nya was completely worthless without water powers lol and ruin that really cool dynamic they could've had
Another thing I love about the mechanic He served 3 different masters. Literally. When a master of his is either got killed or completely changed, he'll move on to a new one to succeed in world domination. Examples of that would be Chen, Unagami, and the Overlord, which are basically his 3 masters over his run and what he switch with. Great video crusty!
Bro! I personally love the Mechanic just as much as you do! He is such a cunning yet fun villain on screen that I was so happy when I saw him line up with the primary villains in Crystalized! Though I wish there was more of him and done well in the other half of the season, but still. His presence in the show is the reason why I'm creating a fanfiction about him on Wattpad! A story about him and Ultra Violet's relationship and crimes in Ninjago City! He is my favorite villain, besides the Time Twins, and I am excited to see more of him in later seasons!
The Mechanic is a really fun and entertaining villain, watching him do evil stuff will always be fun for me. Prime Empire is his peak 🔥 His late characterisation in Crystalized doesn't bother me to much, because he already hated Nya back in Season 11 for being "The absolutely worst Ninja" in his eyes. They just continued that rivalry. Reagrding his mocking of Nya du to the lack of her powers- I think he's just being hypocritical.
That character is super underrated. I really want the writers to give us a Mechanic backstory. It doesn't have to be in the series. Maybe they can reveal it in a book. We know that he used to work for Master Chen. There is also a rumor that he used to work for Captain Soto. But how did he get his prosthetic?
My head cannon is that he is smart enough to know that the specific thing he says to Nya he only says because he knows it would get under her skin because of her sacrifice. It’s obvious not what the writer was doing because they would have said he was lying but thats what I am going to pretend it was.😅
The Mechanic is not only on of the best villains, but also my favorite villain in Ninjago. Was gonna make a video on this, but you hit all the points on the head with this video. Thank you for doing my job for me!
In my opinion, there are a lot of underrated characters in Ninjago, if you look at the minor characters like the Elemental Masters, the minor villains like Cryptor and Kozu, or even the underrated factions like the Serpentines, Oni and Dragons. Lego likes to introduce characters and factions and not fully reveal them. Oni in season 10 could potentially destroy all Realms, and even in the original ending, Omega destroyed everything in existence, and then Garmadon with the Golden Weapons riding Firstbourne should have created another world like his father, but Lego lost this potential.
Man when I was a younger kid I used to be obsessed with the other Elemental Masters as well as Cryptor. We haven't seen Gravis and Jacob in a long time. Tox used her powers on screen literally once and Ash's status is unknown, possibly dead. Bolobo stay taking Ls and Chamille is a 'bad girl' according to Karlof, who is a W dude, love Karlof as well as Neuro and Griffin. Shade dope too
still wished he returned in Dragon Rising as Crimebose/Crimelord like in Prime empire season, with an arm that can do all (fire, strech, hack ?, ...) and a fancy suit or fixed cloath like sitting in his chair and send his anger for failing operation on his men (like hire a meceneray or something for the ninja problem) but I liked that he return just wish he will grow as character
He’s awesome and I love the mechanic! He’s such a compelling character and he is such a deep character with his regret of his arm. And he is just so fun and charismatic.
8:00 i think i finally understand what writers intentions were there. When the mechanic says that nya is nothing without her powers is to show that he hates people with natural power because they are just born with it and not have worked for it like the mechanic himself. Its not that he is shitting on people without power, its him shitting on people that are nothing without their power. But crystallised still failed at disproving him, because nya didnt have her powers for 5 seasons and she was still probably the best member of the team
The mechanic has no powers and strong Nya had elemental power and was strong Now with no power she is weak In this scenario the mechanic is happy that he is proven right That if he and nya were ordinary people(which he is ) then he would be better than nya
I mean, I think that the Mechanic fixating on Nya being useless without her powers is not out of character for him. I saw it as like "I never needed any powers but you are usuless without yours!" An "I am so much better" thing
I don’t know how I personally feel about the Mechanic. There’s things I like and don’t like about him, in which I don’t really have any strong opinions on
I Absolutely Love The Mechanic so Much and His Subway Tunnel Fight/Battle with The 4 Original Ninja from Season 15 Crystalized Episode 12 The Council of the Crystal King is One of the Best Mechanic Battles of All Time in my Opinion I’m Very Excited to see more of the Mechanic in the Ninjago Sequel Series Dragons Rising in the Future He’s Super Awesome.🔥 (“THE MECHANIC IS BACK NINJAGO”)
I love your breakdown in the mechanic’s character, might’ve made me appreciate his character a bit more but unfortunate his peak of his character is in the second worst season of all time so it’s hard to to give a full perspective on his character. Although I never thought he was bad to begin with
A lot of people, me included, kind of get annoyed though by how the mechanic appears in short stints so often and i've seen some ninjago reactors feel the same way. He's just so lame and boring that i just don't really care about him, and get mad whenever he's on screen because a new cooler character could've been introduced and do the same thing like in prime empire. And there is just no way in any universe the mechanic is better than kaalmar, chen, nadakhan, clouse, just no way. Someone like kalmaar is just more fun, has more personality and is just more entertaining. The mechanic is just not cool, design wise, personality wise, power wise etc and not funny or charismatic to me. But what entertains people is subjective and different for everyone but that's just how i feel bout mechanic he just meh.
Respect for those who like him but I just can’t get behind him. I don’t see how a guy with a prosthetic arm is a match against what are basically super humans.
Don't forget, this guy was one of Captain Soto's pirates, which means he may or may not have had a hand in helping defeat Nadakhan the first time around.
It's not necessary canon but it would be sick if it was actually confirmed. As of right now it's just a theory that was noticed by Tommy but he stated that we need to wait for show to confirm it for it to be canon.
