hehe its 170 now, I have no idea why people are disliking this? I just got here from a catfish eating a mouse and there was lots of dislikes on that to. People are wierd and cant accept nature or something. Cool video btw.
I had an oscar a few years ago, they're great fish if you enjoy a bit of violence. When he was small we put him into a tank full of feeder guppies that had survived from the last fish. In 2 days there were no guppies left. Soon, we upgraded to giving him rosy reds. If we weren't quick enough dumping them in, he'd tear the bag open and maul them. Sometimes he wouldn't even eat them, he'd just snap them in half. Other times he'd eat so many that parts spilled out from his gills. Pure monster.
@18koopatroopa def too small for two oscars, okay for one though. I would only recommend getting one anyways, they tend to be very aggressive towards each other even when raised together from fry in some cases. I also had crawfish with my oscars who were very aggressive towards each other and anything i tried putting in the aquarium including my hand. However they did not mess with the crawfish whatsoever. i would say okay on the crawfish but it is very hard to find a compatible pare of oscars.
oh man, thanks for the heads up. Hes stopped eating pellets/fish food after his 1st year. for 2 years hes been eating nothing but these huge meal worms. Pet shop told me to starve him until he will eat pellets, i tried but I didnt follow through i spoiled him. Imma try again.
I bought a huge tank i duno how many gallons it was only 2000YEN = $20.00 here in japan they sell a lot of used aquariums that they make sure its quality first at the pet stores. Thats cool you made your own, thats hard work and risky but im sure you knew exactly what u were doing. do u got a video of it?
I know, but you should see tanks here in Japan, I seen 75 gallon tanks with multiple Oscars with Arowanas, giant plecos, even a soft shell turtle mixed in the same tank. I thought it was cruel when i first seen it in Japan, but I been here over 10 yrs I guess I got used to seeing it. The animals are still way active and eat with no problem
@JeePnoY1 i live in the U.S. on the east coast, but not close enough to the coast to get them all the time, i buy from a bait shop near me that will sometimes have semi big ones, but mostly small. you can see how big they are if you watch some of my videos called "turtles vs crawfish"
I removed the gravel so cleaning would be easier and faster, thus making the water quality a lot better. i bought him when it was a real tiny Oscar and it grew to that size and was healthy believe it or not. In Japan like i said a million times, they sell Oscars that are way bigger than this is a small tank too. I am in japan.
wow ox heart? what is a hake? yeah its really fun. i miss having the oscar, but glad I gave it away to a better home, being active duty doesnt let me take care of it as much as i wanted to.
cool, how much are they in the USA? I bought this one for about 480 YEN, about $6.00? I had no idea what kind of fish it was until I went on vacation and all my angelfish, clown fish, and guppies were gone hahaha....
Actually, the Oscar was being territorial. Feeding it live crayfish is super healthy for it though, as Goldfish have tons of fats that can cause disease.
Good for America, I am from England. We don't have much space, but I am lucky to live in the countryside where I have lots of space. As far as fish are concerned, their owners do not 'have to' keep them in small tanks, where people in Japan have to live so close to each other for many reasons. Would they be happier with more space? Probably, same goes for fish?
He is right… an Oscar that size should be kept in at least a 75-100 gallon tank… what size is yours…. it looks to be about 40ish gallons which is wayyyy to small...
i had about 3 oscar fish in my aquarium and i had about 8 other fish in there and i didn't know that they would eat my other fish and i woke up in the morning and the only 3 fish left where the oscars
naw eventually he ate him. I had one strong crawfish that got so big, he climbed out my tank and it was on my face so I got startled and grabbed it and threw him across the room, it died, i was pretty sad after that.
@18koopatroopa Hi, Sorry I dont get on Much, and i was surprised how many hits this video had. I have no idea, but honestly i dont think its a good idea, i had angelfish, tiger barbs, all types of fish with this oscar when he was a baby, then when it grew up one day all the other fish except my pleco was gone! Try to Google an Oscar Club Forum, theres tons of info on forums and online clubs!
Hey im in japan too. I have my oscar in a tank even smaller than yours, and he's happy, healthy, and eating regularly. I bet it's because the oscars bred in japan can handle being cramped, just like the japanese on festival days XD
@tysy73 south American cichlids are more aggressive and African cichlids jaws are lower so if they were in a tank with with a south American like a jack Dempsey it would get bullied because the jack would lock on and have dominance
I give my Oscars fresh meal worms, frozen Krill, and brine shrimp. I'd be apprehensive giving them crayfish with pincers intact. It could risk injury to the fish. They are rambunctious and have injured themselves without hostile food in the tank. So, did the Oscar eat him or was it just a random act of cruelty? I see that a lot on youtube.
I loved giving my oscars crawfish, much cleaner and safer than feeder gold fish too. I got a crawl fish that was much bigger than my oscar at the time, took him 3-days to finish it off. Have to give them the best and most natural foods to keep them really healthy.
i have a oscar tht when he was little i used to stick a popsicle stick in the tank and he would bite it and i could lift him up out of the water it was great
He didn't want to eat him he just wanted disable the crawfish's fighting parts
Dude, give the Crawfish a chance at least. Makes for a better challenge. He had no place to hide.
hehe its 170 now, I have no idea why people are disliking this? I just got here from a catfish eating a mouse and there was lots of dislikes on that to. People are wierd and cant accept nature or something. Cool video btw.
I never thought of it that way. Good point about feeding it natural food :)
obviously my oscar looks very healthy here.
If my fish was unhappy, it wouldnt be hunting or eating
it differs every where, theres a survival man episode where he goes over it, in utah they call 'em crawdads
thanks, i dont know why it turns out good sometimes, sometimes its blury
My oscar was that size when he died.

@7ItalianStallion
where are you from, i caught these at work in japan. so easy to catch and keep.
I think you're confusing "unhappy" with "dead"...
It does not NEED sand and plants. The tank does look a little small.
man that crawfish can move....but is it still alive?
I was laughing at the guy complaining about your grammar because he misspelled the word grammar.
my uncle one one of these in a small tank, then he trew 9 live goldfish in that tank and 30 seconds later, they were torn to shreds, you gotta love em
That crawfish have BALLS!!!
Im sorry for your loss. Did you adjust the pH level? I learned water quality and pH level is a big factor on your fish health.
STICK AND MOVE, LITTLE BUDDY, STICK AND MOVE!
it can be both depending on the region
@18koopatroopa def too small for two oscars, okay for one though. @JeePnoY1 yea that was big crawfish, i wish i could find ones that big for my turtles
-rips claws off- ahh fuck it ill let him starve
The animal kingdom is CRAZY...
Sucked to see the injury but still, cool... thanks for sharin'.
now i k how all of my cray fish went missing
Dude that's one big duck of a fish
I bought a huge tank i duno how many gallons it was only 2000YEN = $20.00 here in japan they sell a lot of used aquariums that they make sure its quality first at the pet stores.
Thats cool you made your own, thats hard work and risky but im sure you knew exactly what u were doing. do u got a video of it?
Thats right, I used to give mine ox heart and baby hake...they used to destory anything that was put in there...good fun.
wtf is that a pen in the tank?
because your tank is way too small. You need at least 75 gallons for an oscar.

@iamabigcutie its called a crawfish,crayfish,crawdad,yappy,and a hole lot of other things, it depends on where you live.
Where I come from Franklin County VA (Moonshine capadal of the world) we call those crawdads...
@wampaAWESOMEsauce
couldnt have defined it better. lol. it depends where youre from.
Or that it could be... hungry?
if you get cichlids (depending on size) they'll nibble on your fingers it feels way weird
oscars dont need big tanks. they usuallly just sit around not doing anything.
Your fish are probably having a hard time. 1. Your tank is FAR to SMALL 2. The tank isn't decorated. (No gravel e t c)
@7ItalianStallion
i dont remember...pretty sure he ate it, if not, then my turtles ate it lol.
nice oscar
wow ox heart? what is a hake? yeah its really fun. i miss having the oscar, but glad I gave it away to a better home, being active duty doesnt let me take care of it as much as i wanted to.

i like your fish bro but your transformers badges are way cooler! :)
Actually, the Oscar was being territorial. Feeding it live crayfish is super healthy for it though, as Goldfish have tons of fats that can cause disease.
You should! I've been living here since 2003. Now I am several hundred miles away from Sendai, the tsunami stricken place of last year.......
Nature can be brutal. Also incredibly metal.
Good for America, I am from England. We don't have much space, but I am lucky to live in the countryside where I have lots of space. As far as fish are concerned, their owners do not 'have to' keep them in small tanks, where people in Japan have to live so close to each other for many reasons. i had to give this fish away..... it was a beast, he ate all the other fish in his tank....
i hope the new owner is taking good care of it.
If you have baby oscars you can put your finger in the water and they will nibble at it.
Nice Oscar!!! What does that pump thing on the bottom of the tank do?
Ty… it’s just a regular filter I didn’t set it up right lol
@ 11 years later lol
is there any way i can put another oscar in my tank and they wont kill each other
Start off as babies together maybe. Not sure , as you can tell from my filthy tank I’m not an Oscar expert lol sorry 15 years late comment reply
@kfmgam
They are Ciclids, sorry for the late reply.
cool. i love Oscars. I gave this one away, it was fun I could feed him anything from Crawfish, Goldfish, to Worms
I feel bad for the crawfish
it might not do so well against a turtle
@18koopatroopa tht wouldntb a good idea about a 75 to a 100gallon would b good for 2
woah nice, did he ever eat the crawfish, or did he just cripple it n leave it alone?
how long does it take for it to grow from 1 inch to that size
You really have a fish that big in a tank that small?
My Oscar Do not do that and my oscar is bigger
He is right… an Oscar that size should be kept in at least a 75-100 gallon tank… what size is yours…. it looks to be about 40ish gallons which is wayyyy to small...
so i guess he didnt eat it?
my oscar died today it was a red oscar about 10 inches
bigger tank for this oscar please ?
i had about 3 oscar fish in my aquarium and i had about 8 other fish in there and i didn't know that they would eat my other fish and i woke up in the morning and the only 3 fish left where the oscars
not exactly. ammonia, nitrite are the major factors. check these level using good brand like petix and api
Get some gravel in the tank the little sprinkling in the corner isn't enough!
naw eventually he ate him.
I had one strong crawfish that got so big, he climbed out my tank and it was on my face so I got startled and grabbed it and threw him across the room, it died, i was pretty sad after that.
Tank was wayyyy too small. Cramped fish=unhappy fish
@18koopatroopa

sorry to hear that, how long did you have him or her?
Hey im in japan too. I have my oscar in a tank even smaller than yours, and he's happy, healthy, and eating regularly.
I bet it's because the oscars bred in japan can handle being cramped, just like the japanese on festival days XD
The tv show "Cheaters"
You can do it Oscar! Bite his frikkin head off!
@tysy73 south American cichlids are more aggressive and African cichlids jaws are lower so if they were in a tank with with a south American like a jack Dempsey it would get bullied because the jack would lock on and have dominance
BADASS OSCAR RIPPED THE CLAW OFF HAHA!
Very nice video. Excellent quality.
you should really consider being an animal or fish psychologist... you really know how they feel.
dang cray fight like a man go down with honor-that was one sided tho
That's nowhere near 55 gallons. That's closer to 15...
That tank is way too small for your fish. I think that you should really consider getting a much bigger tank.
You're confusing unhappy with dead.
thanks!

Where can you buy them as feeders
thanks lol gave it away, hopefully to someone who can afford a bigger tank.
Yes it would. The size of its environment does not influe on the seeking of food.
tank or dank?
Hey its just for decoration,what's wrong?
Oscars remind me of Rottweilers. My oscar is a beast. they love to batter things down. even if they dont eat it, they will still rip it up.
Why a orange crayfish?
I believe you should sell it, or get a better tank.
have no clue, sorry. its not big at all, I got him when it was very small for only $5 in Japan. Gave it away a year later after this video.
I want to go to Japan some day. Preferably Okinawa and Tokyo.
@Ra1d3rs4lif3
hahah I barely lost this bet, you guys went 8-8, which is NOT a winning record, and 49ers DID BEAT Raiders in the battle of the bay.
i have a oscar tht when he was little i used to stick a popsicle stick in the tank and he would bite it and i could lift him up out of the water it was great
Ok 15 is exzaggerated it.....ok im not good at getting tank sizes by looking at them.......ok it might be a 30 or 29gal........(sorry for my grammar)
