I have a '21 JT Rubicon with a manual transmission. It is the first NEW vehicle I've ever owned. My family and I used to do a lot of off-roading when I was growing up, but my JT was the first vehicle I've ever taken off road (not counting ATVs and UTVs). Long story short(er), we took my JT up and around the Alpine loop near Ouray, Colorado. Had lots of fun, I had ordered the same AEV diff covers but they wouldn't be in until after we got back. Once we got back, my dad and I went straight for upgrading the diff covers. The front one, no issues. When we got to the back however...we removed the bolt to drain the oil from the rear diff...almost nothing came out. We took the cover off carefully, and there was BARELY any oil in the diff. Definitely not enough, even from the factory. I was rather upset after spending all that money. Luckily I already planned on changing the ring and pinion as I was planning on putting 37s on. When I took my Jeep to 4WP to get the ring and pinion, lift kit, and larger tires installed. The mechanic mentioned there seemed to have been damage done to the stock ring and pinion. Once I told him what had happened, he agreed it was probably from that (as I put the proper amount of oil in the diff when we did the cover upgrade.) I'm finding more and more issues, not necessarily with the vehicle itself, but with the dealership that sold it to me in the first place. My Jeep has the tow package, but I only found out recently that they didn't put the upgraded battery in my Jeep, just the smaller one. I also tried talking to them about upgrading my clutch (as the stock clutch sucks) and they refused to work on it as "there was nothing wrong with the stock clutch to warrant an upgrade." NOW I'm getting regular notices from Jeep telling me about recall after recall for the stock clutch...after I already got an aftermarket Centerforce Clutch (which is TONS better). I still ABSOLUTELY LOVE my Jeep, but just be aware of bad dealerships, make sure you get everything you are paying for, and DOUBLE check the fluid levels immediately after getting the vehicle, don't take their word for it.
I have a 2021 non-xr and have always had 35's on it I've had my rear sway bar break off on the driver's side, welded it back together and It survived a trip out west. I changed all my drivetrain fluids @25k and will again @50k. I keep it in 2wd (Taser mini) when I'm just commuting to preserve the transfer case. Just about to 45k now and so far so good. No problems. I do know what you're talking about with the slight hesitation when you take off from a stop. Almost like a slippage feeling. I'm convinced it's the transfer case but it seems it has always done that. Most people would never notice it but I do. I beat it but I also meticulously maintain it. Oil change every 5k, keep it clean, waxed and garaged but it's no tar baby. I gets offroad plenty.
I also have a 2022 XR 392 HEMI, I currently have 97,000 miles on her and I drive her like I stole her everyday. I have had minimal problems, and that has been with the Serv 4 wheel drive & the Crappy Gorilla glass replacements. I no longer put them back in anymore.
Yea ok that’s a very nice video. A 392 Wrangler should be a blast to drive. But to pay that much money for an off road toy is beyond my reason. Especially since buying a 2024 Gladiator Sport S, with the heavy towing package, that I’m fairly certain is the same front and rear axles that come with the 392, in front to handle the extra weight of the big heavier engine, in the rear not for any extra weight issues, but for sure the extra torque added. That probably goes for the steering stabilizer also. But I find the 3.6 is fine for what the capacities are and usage. Oh sure everyone could happily use more power, but the daily balance of mileage and insurance is a good idea for the proven 3.6. I have found that when off roading I need more power all I need do is use low range and the power is double for low speeds sure, but it’s there to use if needed. I am really amazed at how mine rides even with stock shocks! In the near future I’m planning on adding aftermarket shocks, more than likely Bilstein 5100’s, that I know are designed for a more controlled ride and handling, maybe at the expense of comfort, I can abide by that when the added benefit is control.
You are correct, the 392 and Gladiator share the axles and some other bits, pieces and extra stiffening. I never had an issue with my 3.6s. they were plenty powerful and never let me down. I do get better gas mileage in my 392 than I did in my last lifted JK, as long as I don't mash the gas pedal leaving every light. No doubt the 392 Wrangler is priced way high. for the same money there are a lot of options. it's just so stupid and over the top, that it's fun. The Gladiator is a fantastic vehicle. if it came with a 392, I probably would bought one instead.
@@2KV-iper yea I don’t understand why Jeep insisted that a 392 in the Wrangler is a better idea/fit than the Gladiator. I can only imagine the tow rating with a 392 Gladiator would be? At least 8,000 lbs with a little down tune to help keep everything cool.
where do you wheel in FL. I moved here last year for family and just got my first jeep. I prefer the mountains out west but since I'm here for a bit, I'm looking to get out there and appreciate any insights on where's good to go. When they reschedule Jeeptoberfest, I'll be there.
You will be disappointed as thr wheeling in Fl is mostly Swamps etc. depending on where you are in the state. There are many state run Wildlife management areas (Wma) Ocala National Forest is popular. Where in state are you?
@@2KV-iper I’m in Plantation., just west of Ft Lauderdale, so I figure I’ve got a ways to travel no matter what. Except for the Everglades. But I’d be a bit concerned about heading out there by myself as I’ve never driven in that environment.

Also near the western entrance to Loop rd off 41is Turner River road. Dirt roads that lead up to Big Cypress/ Bear island camp ground. @timothystone5785 mine is a 22 Non XR. Which means it came stock with 3:73 gears, lower than the XR version so I think that helps my gas mileage. It's plenty quick! I average about 14-15 on the hwy if not stomping on it. Better than my last lifted JK. Around town 12-13.

My JKs slung rocks pretty hard but no where near the velocity of the V8. My last JK running bfg km3 barely had barely noticeable chips on the hinges after 6 hard years. Then again the donuts in the 392 don't help any!

Yes 100% haven't had an issue since the new battery went in.
Are you going to get an extended warranty for it or not?
