Recently visited Iloilo City and I was impressed. It is clean, traffic is orderly, nice and friendly people.
I think Iloilo city has a high GDP, there are more big business in Manila and Cebu hence the higher city assets.
I agree , Iloilo city is the place for retiring people - got lots of beaches , friendly people, cheap and fresh food - veggies and fruits . First time I went there last Jan to watch Dinagyang festival - amazing show and performances of students.
I never expected the city to be this great.
If I have the opportunity to retire in the Philippines, I will choose Iloilo city

i think the Makati population is not even reached 700k since more than half of its population is already transfered to Taguig after the 10embos brgy. is being relocate to Taguig. now The population of Makati City is around 240-250k.

Philippines doesn’t make anything but import everything. This can’t make the country rich. When did you ever hear motorcycle made in Philippines, cars? Construction equipment? Medical equipment? Any worthwhile research? None. Zipped. Nada.
All cities are the same in the Philippines, insane diesel exhaust, ground pollution from outdated vehicles, almost zero cultural institutions and every sidewalk is used as a parking lot for motorbikes so pedestrians are forced to walk on the road.
That's a valid observation. It's important to address these issues for a cleaner and safer environment.

Parañaque City is making waves! Who knew this city had so much to offer?
Looking at the Philippines' 10 richest cities. Why are they all centered around only three areas of the country. Manila, Cebu, and Davao. This shows that this country needs to diverse its wealth much wider throught the country. This shows a unitory form of government. The power of government is not equilly distrbuted. By being a Federal form you will divert much of its power to other areas of the country. All of the cities would have the ability to become rich.
That's an interesting observation about the distribution of wealth in the Philippines. It's definitely a topic that warrants further discussion.
No, not just Manila, Cebu, and Davao. Add ILOILO as part of the unofficial list . It's just that depending on who is in the administration, the cities nearest the current administration are given priority in on projects and publicity. ILOILO CITY was not a favored city in the previous Admin, and so was left out on projects, with some projects that were intended for ILOILO transferred to these favored cities. But in spite of these obstacles, the ILOILO public officials managed to secure projects with little top government support. Let's give kudos to the ILOILO officials, both in the province and in the city, for holding on and continue delivering. Nevertheless, many of these projects now in ILOILO were pioneering and have become templates for other cities and municipalities to emulate.

I enjoyed this show very much. However, you pronounce these Filipino city names as badly as I do. I enjoyed my weeks in Zamboanga City because the city is so friendly. I am headed to Dumaguete via Cebu on my next trip to explore this wonderful country. Nicest people I have ever met.

Mandaue locates in southern Cebu just throwing distance from Cebu City which both lack of large manufacturers (just couple of cement factories, 1 Japanese corporation, etc), get their electricity from Lete and have no electric power plant, lack irrigation, contaminated ocean, unreliable water supply, worst roads condition with high traffic, import pretty much everything from motorcycles, cars, electronics, rice, etc.
It's surprising how different areas can face unique challenges, but there's always room for improvement!

Mandaue City is truly highly urbanize city ,from industrial to Commercial hub and a lot of on going business district development along the way such as Mandani Bay and Mantawi by RLC and CLI development projects and GateWalk Central by Ayala Aboitez Ventures! And a lot more ...that's why Cebu City is behind now a days because of lack of good governance and dirty politics not like Mandaue quite and progressing well...

It depends on the LGU. Aside from income, assets also include properties acquired by the LGU and income from investments. In short, it really depends on the LGU's ability to be resourceful. It doesn't mean that the more businesses or the higher taxes a city has, the greater its assets are. Corruption is also a big factor that affects the LGU's assets.
