It is truly wonderful to hear that you have made the wise choice to leave behind the stress-inducing city life. I must assure you that Dumaguete, in comparison to bustling Cebu City, is considerably less stressful and I sincerely hope it remains so. Siquijor, on the other hand, offers a sanctuary of tranquility, providing the perfect escape from the pressures of daily life. However, it is worth noting that the only setback lies in the stability of the power supply, an area where the local government has unfortunately not exerted sufficient effort to find a lasting solution. Your decision is commendable, and I envision the opportunity for you to establish a resort exuding the enchanting aura of Bali, fitting harmoniously within the confines of the small yet captivating Siquijor island. Your contribution would undeniably play a pivotal role in the promotion of tourism on this charming island.
Very well said Eric! It has been almost 3 months and we do notice some minor inconvenience like random power outage and limited supply of imported goods that is part of our diet. But living here has more pros than cons and peace of mind can never be bought. We are so happy to be here and hopefully we will succeed in making a project as you've mentioned in the future.

Congratulations Joe and Van on your decision to move from Dumaguete to Siquijor Island. After Joe's dad had the tour of his home and how it was built I think you made a good decision to move there. Been around the world - and, yes, including Siquijor, too, heheh! Don't get me wrong, though. I bicycled the whole island once. And, goodness: Siquijor's quite beautiful and peaceful. But, still, Dumaguete's the better place to be, at least for me - internet-wise and necessity-access-wise, for starters. It's really a simple case of different strokes; different folks. 🙂 Enjoy your new life in cool & amazing Siquijor, guys! Maayong adlaw.

Well, nowadays there is Starlink in the Philippines.. You can live anywhere and have very fast internet nowadays.. This was a godsend for digital nomads who want to live in the Philippines, but live the island life.

We do get stressed at times but not as much anymore especially now that we live in a much more simple environment surrounded by amazing people 🤗 Hope you can visit Siquijor one day!

Sure! There's Mina's Guesthouse which is close to our place which is beach front. There are so many budget hostels here in Siquijor already. Although most of them are not beach front.

Dumaguete has changed a lot...sooooo many (too many actually...way too many) foreigners...over 6 0 0 0 ! And, because so, land/house prices have gone through the roof. Soon only rich foreigners or locals who have always owned their places will be able to afford to live there any more. I like those Mandarin fish you have there in the water just behind your house.
You are absolutely right on that! Eventually, Dumaguete will become the Expat capital of The Philippines 😅

I think per capita, Duma is already the expat capital of Phils. Soon Dumaguete/Valencia will be the Beverly Hills of Phils. On average every foreigner coming there has monthly 10x as much money as the locals do...that is a disaster happening...their presence alters the area financial for pinoy and not always in a good way. No, I don't dive...but I will give it a try when I go there...would like to see the whale sharks in Oslob and some of the fish like the Mandarin. :) @@VanandJoe
