Glad you enjoyed it. I am still digitizing the remaining wire recordings. Not sure what is on them: stay tuned!

@@zipdude Just plugging this as my grandmother was actually on Welcome Travelers (and won) on April 29th 1953 but I don't think we'll be able to find that recording. If you come upon any leads I'd be very interested in following up!

I am transcribing one of my Mom's old diaries from 1948 to 1952. On June 30, 1949 she wrote "Mailed Sun Valley to Welcome Travelers" I had no idea what WT was but quickly learned it was an old time radio program. In Spokane WA, it was on at 9 am on radio station KGA. WT apparently had some sort of contest and my Mom dedicated a lot of time to entering contests.

David, that's a great story. It helps piece the history of our culture together. I never knew that this show existed until I tried to archive the recordings that were on my family's wire recorder that was broken for at least 50 years. It's like unearthing a time capsule. Thank you for the information.

Do you have the other 4? My grandfather and his family were on the show sometime around 1952. Their mother died and there were 10 kids. Family of Edward Martin English from Indianapolis IN. I would love to find it.

I still am going through some wire recording and digitizing them. This is the only one that I've found so far. You might want to check this location for a lead on some of the other known shows.

@@zipdudejust want to add that from what I'm able to search no other welcome Travelers exists on that link unless I'm missing something. I'm personally looking for my grandmother's appearance (April 29th 1953) if you have any other leads or places that might be helpful please let me know

Hey, not sure if your still looking but I know I was able to confirm the exact date by talking to the Library of Congress as they have the show descriptions (no video or audio that I've found so far). If your still looking please let me know!

@@WingDestroyer88 what's your email? The first start would be my recommendation to confirm what date they appeared. Do you know if it was the TV show or the radio show? If you have her name and rough info around her show you can either contact the Library of Congress and i got a copy of the show description that confirmed the date for my grand mother (May 29th 1953 for her)
