Govt has generalist approach and RBI being specialist Institution.. This invocation would undermine the credibility of Institutions like RBI.. Turkey crisis was the result of more interference of Prez Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the central bank of turkey and our Govt should take into account such incidents while taking these steps ..

Sir i would like to highlight few things in this topic. 1- those 11 bank which are under PCA had been selected as it was suggested by govt itself to show some strictness towards bank who had large amount of NPA because govt it blaming rbi that its rbi’s fault due to which NPA have become that large. 2. After rbi impliment those strict rules on 11 banks that cause lack of liquidity in market now govt is asking rbi to reverse there strict rules. 3. Lack of liquidity in market may be one of the reason govt is asking for some relief in strict rule but as far as i m concerned govt is asking this because 2019 election are about to come and govt want to show some fantasy fig in there record to promote and show civilians that there govt is doing well. 4. If govt try to threaten rbi by saying they will use section 7 then it will be terrible condition for our economy as well for example something like this happen with argentina in 2010 due to too much interference of govt in there central bank. All banks has to submit their monthly reports on the performance and their financial status...Periodic and abrupt investigation is also being carried out to check if the business is done within the guide lines..BOT (Bank Of Tanzania) has acted in certain cases to take charge of even private banks to regularise and normalize the affairs in the benefit of the Depositors and for the Nation at Large.. Having listened this lecture, Here is my 2 cents- 1. I would call it a Monarch Government and a Group of Uneducated people elected by people of India ; Sad to listen that Govt invoke section 7 2. To pressurise center bank for own benefit pushing economy to dangerous level 3. RBI in its stand knows better than government of current economic condition 4. Govt to run their welfare scheme is just for enhancing vote bank for 2019 election that's why RBI is on their radar 5. As an commerce student I think both are right on their own....but govt need not overlap the work given to RBI with a new work.... Raghuram Rajan was removed , people said urjit Patel is close to Modi and ambani, RBI wants to have a AAA rating so that future is easy . Government of India has only BAA rating and is asking RBI to clear the money which they need to get this rating over time and share the remaining with the government .:-(money sharing is big process if rbi puts money into system any means it has to raise bonds and take money back otherwise it would go inflationary.:-) 11 national banks are not performing good to follow the Basel 3 norms of rbi . Government wants rbi to liquidate them by extra which rbi has and reduce the nos. Of bank which are not able to follow Basel 3. Other question rising is are all 11 banks illiquid or also some are insolvent. For the people who were not supporting Modi for- demo and gst which were according to them not good for MSMEs but has increased tax base and was proven good for government of India improving Indias ranking in ease of bizz and and also improved India's rating . Now Raghu ram sir how could government be wrong on gst and demo if according to you rbi is right today. RBI wants rbi strong and is good for you by gst and demo govt wanted govt strong and is bad for you.
Section 7 has been never used until now, not even in 1991 crisis in which we are almost close to default because the current situation is going to be worst than 1991 if timely action not taken. I think our government is a proactive and good initiative taken by our government. See 1. IL&FS defaulted 1lac crores. Which triggered the huge selloff in the share market. 2. FII has sold around 30000 crores in October 2018 itself which is almost the same as the 2008 crisis. 3. I think RBI must inject liquidity in the market to avoid further crises.
Well this issue is more critical than being just a issue of who's more educated and who is less. RBI indeed has intellectuals who know the economy well. It's autonomy should be kept intact undoubtedly. But there's time when things have to go aligned. Investments are seen are essential tool to boost economy. Government would surely try to attract investments. RBI should also know that it's function is not only to be an autonomous institution but also that it has to check economic clashes and has to do what is the requirement of that period. Just being and autonomous institute won't do anything. A synergy of RBI and Government has to be there. As long as govt. Stance is concerned, well it should not be seen as dominance or something else. Ministry is responsible to the parliament which in turns is responsible to people. Article 7 is used, but it shouldn't go beyond it consultative area. Moreover, Both have to see their duties for the welfare of nation rather than being just autonomous( RBI) and to increase their control (Finance ministry). Both extremes will lead to parlous situation. A mediocre way has to be sought. Being obstinate to just one's believes and duties is not acceptable when you have a whole country over you. You have to see in all directions.
What a roller coaster of emotions !! For almost 3/4th part of the video I felt government is right & then section 7 comes. Well, RBI must work autonomously but sometimes they should accept government's advices too.

1. I would call it a Monarch Government and a Group of Uneducated people elected by people of India ; Sad to listen that Govt invoke section 7
2. To pressurise center bank for own benefit pushing economy to dangerous level
3. RBI in its stand knows better than government of current economic condition
4. Govt to run their welfare scheme is just for enhancing vote bank for 2019 election that's why RBI is on their radar
5. If this is continued for long, thousands of Indians again going to lose their job and more big companies will pullback fearing future failure

As an commerce student I think both are right on their own....but govt need not overlap the work given to RBI with a new work.... One work at a time so the effectiveness and efficiency will be seen...!! Either way.....tho I wish all banks to be a govt body so that RBI can easily monitor and have control over them...

RBI wants to have a AAA rating so that future is easy .
Government of India has only BAA rating and is asking RBI to clear the money which they need to get this rating over time and share the remaining with the government .:-(money sharing is big process if rbi puts money into system any means it has to raise bonds and take money back otherwise it would go inflationary.:-)
11 national banks are not performing good to follow the Basel 3 norms of rbi . Government wants rbi to liquidate them by extra which rbi has and reduce the nos. Of bank which are not able to follow Basel 3.
Other question rising is are all 11 banks illiquid or also some are insolvent.
For the people who were not supporting Modi for- demo and gst which were according to them not good for MSMEs but has increased tax base and was proven good for government of India improving Indias ranking in ease of bizz and and also improved India's rating .

Autonomous of RBI is not big issue. RBI ko national interest me Government ko follow karna chahiye.
Section 7 has been never used until now, not even in 1991 crisis in which we are almost close to default because the current situation is going to be worst than 1991 if timely action not taken. I think our government is a proactive and good initiative taken by our government. See
1. IL&FS defaulted 1lac crores. Which triggered the huge selloff in the share market.
2. FII has sold around 30000 crores in October 2018 itself which is almost the same as the 2008 crisis.
3. I think RBI must inject liquidity in the market to avoid further crises.

Well this issue is more critical than being just a issue of who's more educated and who is less. RBI indeed has intellectuals who know the economy well. It's autonomy should be kept intact undoubtedly. But there's time when things have to go aligned. Investments are seen are essential tool to boost economy. Government would surely try to attract investments. RBI should also know that it's function is not only to be an autonomous institution but also that it has to check economic clashes and has to do what is the requirement of that period. Just being and autonomous institute won't do anything. A synergy of RBI and Government has to be there. As long as govt. Stance is concerned, well it should not be seen as dominance or something else. Ministry is responsible to the parliament which in turns is responsible to people. Article 7 is used, but it shouldn't go beyond it consultative area. Moreover, Both have to see their duties for the welfare of nation rather than being just autonomous( RBI) and to increase their control (Finance ministry). Both extremes will lead to parlous situation. A mediocre way has to be sought. Being obstinate to just one's believes and duties is not acceptable when you have a whole country over you. You have to see in all directions.
