FIA had added a 5 second penalty to this lap time for exceeding track limits
Cannot be compared really, the Golf R is a daily drivable AWD powerful GT, almost premium, the opposite of a civic type R, and certainly not a track tool. Still great performance on the track given that fact ! And great lap vid 😉
I was really surprised at how much that nose didn't want to turn in. I'm sure some PS4s would help rectify some of that understeer.

As much as I know how good the Honda is on track..I'll still have this R over the Honda all day long..well done Steve as always..👍💪💯🏆
He was all over the place on that lap going from one side to the other and far from the ideal racing lines. I believe the car could do better even with those tires. He is also in love with the Type R, which is fine-it is a great car :-)
All well and good, but as a daily I'll take the VW over the Honda anyday.
Missed the first apex quite badly😅, but the rest of the lap itself is impressive 👏
Tires make such a huge difference on track, so what a shame VW didn't put the car on the optional Cup Sport 2's. The tires it came on are crap
Road ability aside, I could not live with that infotainment system in the VW.

Fun to see. Had to review what was given by VW. Would like to see someone set up cars on identical rubber and wheel specs along with alignment. We’d get a true comparison in drive train by eliminating outside factors.

God it moves so much under braking on these Hankooks, amazed that VW put’s these on their most potent car...
Why in the name of god did they send it out with Hankooks? Considering they know well what the competition is going to be running with, that is just ludicrous!
