I didn’t realise that you can remove the wheels all together that way. I’m currently building a tamiya 1:35 Panther (my first ever tamiya apart from my old Williams F1 radio control racing car back in 1982!!).
I had planned on painting the black rims (rubber) on the wheels individually before adding but your way would be far easier. I only have some Humbrol rust pigment and some humbrol dark earth pigment and some Matt cote (varnish) what else would I need to use without having to buy lots of other weathering products? I’m new to the hobby and I’ve spent a lot already. Can’t really afford much more.
Any books on weathering? I need to get the process in my head because I still don’t know what I’m doing. Is it all held in place by the final Matt varnish coat (in my case it’ll be humbrol Matt cote)?
Great job by the way. Looks great. Maybe paint that blue box though? :)

The trick with the wheels can save some time but can get really messy if not in the right position. But its worth a try. The pigments should be enough for some basic weathering. Maybe if you can afford a bit more stuff some basic wash like a brown or earth color for pin-washing. If you are short on money skip the books and look for some tutorials on youtube. A lot cheaper and you can actually see step by step what to do

how you thinned this AK paints? and what PSI you used? my ak paints like all acrylic based bases are clocking in airbrush after fiew seconds...

For thinning I used AKs 3rd gen acrylic thinner with a ratio of about 60% paint 40% thinner. I then spray them at around 30 PSI.
