The Thetford 3 way fridge does not work efficiently on 12v. You cannot control the temperature it is just on or off. If you want to use 12v you need to source a 12v compressor fridge, more expense.
Yup K bad idea to use the 12v on your fridge you may have 390 amp hour but it would eat that overnight easy The 12v side of your fridge should only be used when you have your car plugged in and engine running and the power is supplied via your car battery charged by your car alternator. I'm not sure if you are correct with the UK setting with the fridge I think I would have my fridge serviced as over time the burner and burner shield gets rusty and the rust dust falls on to the burner and can block the gas jet this will stop the gas getting through and give a smaller flame to power the fridge before you think about a fridge change Good Luck K

All I can say is DONT run the fridge off your batteries, it’ll eat the battery power and it’s not really designed to run in that way, 12v designed for when towing to keep an already cold fridge cold enough for a tow not for longer term use. Could we ship a new PCB for your fridge from here??

Simply just buy a Dometic compressor fridge-PORTABLE, they come in excellent sizes and they do not loose the temperature you set, SUING 95% less energy:) Did you buy that trailer NEW?
Your fridge will draw around 10 amps on 12 volts DC so not a good idea to run off the batteries for a long time. A small electric fan running in the flue area behind the fridge will assist with cooling air flow behind the fridge on especially hot days.
Hmmm the fan at the back is something I really should look into! And from peoples reactions... sounds like attaching the fridge to the battery isn't a good idea!
The issues with the caravan are probably not that surprising, they're just not built to be used 24/7, 365, and they're all built to a price (which is usually low.) Also, the three-way fridge is not really a good solution, they're very inefficient and prone to issues compared to a 12 volt DC compressor fridge. But of course you get what you get with a caravan - but, if you do have to replace it, move to a 12 volt compressor model. Especially with a decent battery pack.
Good point about their construction. Yeah, I keep hearing of others having issues with the 3way fridge on gas too. A compressor fridge is on my wish list!
I don't know if you already plan your trip to the UK, but if you did not find a good place, have looking in Paris, a lot a job don't require you to speak French ;) Just an advice from a new fan, and maybe yeah because I live in Paris :)
I have been able to visit Paris a couple of times before and think it's an amazing city! Suspect I wont be able to visit this trip though😥Glad you're enjoying the channel.
Yes I know how connect 12v to run the fridge but not good idea because they use about 5 to 6 amps so it would drain your battery half way in about 32.5hrs. The 12v running on your fridge is good for when your driving and your car is keeping your batteries topped up. If you want to know more just ask.
I was hoping to use it as a backup for when it's playing up on gas. I know it's suppose to be just for when you're driving, but would be nice to have it connected to my batteries. Would be keen to learn more.
Hi K, have you checked out the many caravan forums that are operating in Australia, there is thousands here and they do have a lot of British caravans running around as well, they also have thousands operating on Solar only, i have a new caravan running full solar so we can free camp around this massive country, the only time we use caravan parks is to top up with water otherwise we are100% solar just using the fridge on 12 volt, 240 volt, this is the new breed of Dometic with new compressors drawing less power from the batteries. i think some of your questions regarding your caravan should be directed here because like NZ we have the many different climates ranging from freezing to over 40degs and the range of experience on some of these sites are invaluable, and may even be able to help you more than our British counterparts. if you need some leads I'm more than prepared to help. Congrats on your 2 years living in a caravan
Hi K, just had a quick look for you and found dozens of sites, just key in Caravan forums Australia and they will hit you like a cricket bat, there is even a company that imports British caravans as well, who knows, may help you get cheaper spare parts, but last night i was looking at someone who had the same problem as you are having with your fridge and they were able to rectify the problem
Hi Karen great video reminiscing over your last 2 years of your caravan travels I enjoy following your adventures were would you be heading if you came over to the UK.?
Thank you Liz 😀It's personally interesting reflecting on all that's happened. I'm still unsure of where I'll come while in the UK. I'm keen to meet people while over there, so want to learn where everyone's based!

Hi Karen There are some really beautiful places , and some very nice cities too, I think Oxford is one of my favourites and of course there are the seaside towns They vary so much from southern and northern , the northern ones are very chavvy ( I’m not sure you will understand that term ) but google it to find out
Hi I came across your channel whilst looking at places to visit in New Zealand, I’m here now in corumandel at present any recommendations of places to visit? I’m from Yorkshire in uk
Glad you came across my channel! There're plenty of places I'd recommend. Have you made it to Port Jackson in the Coromandel? Or Hahei with Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach? If you're going south, there's the best waterfall in the North Island just outside of Matamata - Wairere Falls. I could keep suggesting more?? haha
Ah it would be great to meet up if you come to England, are you planning on hiring a caravan? If so you will have to come and stay on the farm I am living on in my caravan :)
Thanks for your video, I am thinking to live in caravan @ Queenstown, How much it cost you roughly to live in caravan ? Is it okay to park on non powered sites & depend on battery
Hello. Just saw your video. I did do a video on my costs of living in the caravan if you look through my old videos. You can park on non-powered sites, but you would need a solar panel and decent batteries to live comfortably.
A range of ways. I get it sent to a family member. I get it sent to an office if freelancing there. I get it sent to a post shop when I know I'll be in the area.
You are one clever girl on the subject of backing a caravan. I’m going to get myself a toy car & caravan to practice backing. My caravan is permanently parked in a camping ground in Lawrence Otago at $1 per day. But there may be a time I need to move it somewhere. By the way it’s a great camping ground but it closes from Easter till Labour weekend.

Oh oh! Where can I find these forums! haha
Fantastic! Even found a 'Top 10 forums' blog post, haha. Where were you looking where they fixed their fridge issues?
Hi Karen great video reminiscing over your last 2 years of your caravan travels I enjoy following your adventures were would you be heading if you came over to the UK.?
Thank you Liz 😀It's personally interesting reflecting on all that's happened. I'm still unsure of where I'll come while in the UK. I'm keen to meet people while over there, so want to learn where everyone's based!
Hope you realise your plans to come to UK
And possibly Scotland !!
Are you based in Scotland? I'll be slowly figuring out my route, so let me know your location 😀
Travelling K I stay just outside Glasgow in a place called Uddingston
Oh, looks like there are a few people your way! Might need to make an effort to get up there 😀
I made it into a second video! woop! woop!
😂😂😂That clip will forever represent my time at the Hamilton Expo.
That’s nice , where are you planning to go , no caravan for a while lol
I'm not sure yet! Will start planning and see 😀Where should I go?
Well done nice video 💋
Thank you!
You should really go to Titirangi Bay, if you dare to drive on gravel roads. 😁
That looks so beautiful! I'll have to make it there one day!!!
Travelling K Also check out www.hopewell.co.nz that's further out the Kenepuru road, if you need to get out of the caravan for a couple of nights. It's the best hostel in the world. 😎
Gosh, that looks tucked away and off the beaten track - my favourite type of place, haha.
Be great if you make it to the UK. Can recommend some great places and sites. P.s. we all know you are only coming for the parts 😛
😂😂😂Just need to figure out how to get them home! I'm keen to hear about where I should go. I did live in London for a couple of years but pre-caravan times...
Hi Karen
How long you planning to stay in the U.K. ,
A couple of months 😀
Hi Karen
What kind of holiday will it be , hotels? Or renting a motorhome or the like ?
I'm currently looking into my options, but hopefully something with wheels 😀
Yes that would be the best way , you must visit the Peak District and the Lake District for starters
I've heard they're a beautiful area!
Hi Karen
There are some really beautiful places , and some very nice cities too, I think Oxford is one of my favourites and of course there are the seaside towns
They vary so much from southern and northern , the northern ones are very chavvy ( I’m not sure you will understand that term ) but google it to find out
I've been to Oxford! Well, just for a day trip 😀I've even been to Blackpool 😜But plenty of other places I'm keen to explore!
Oh that sounds nice! I'm currently researching my options but hoping to have something with wheels 😀
Thanks for your video, I am thinking to live in caravan @ Queenstown,
How much it cost you roughly to live in caravan ?
Is it okay to park on non powered sites & depend on battery
Hello. Just saw your video. I did do a video on my costs of living in the caravan if you look through my old videos. You can park on non-powered sites, but you would need a solar panel and decent batteries to live comfortably.
Great vid Karen so jealous I wanna go back South amazing place gonna look at your patreon thing see if I can help out hope you get to England 🚐😎
The South Island is so dramatic, isn't it! Oh, and thank you for looking into Patreon!
Travelling K there's dramatic places then there's the South it basically takes the Micky out of dramatic sooo wanna go back 🚐
Really is the perfect place for a photographer!
Travelling K don't rub it in 😩😩😩
Don`t forget Scotland.
I wish I had the time this trip!
Bournemouth is nice oh and then there’s the Isle of Wight
I've been to Isle of Wight for a music festival... although didn't see the beach!
1:19 😍
Hmmmm did I miss that part of it, haha
how do you get post?
A range of ways. I get it sent to a family member. I get it sent to an office if freelancing there. I get it sent to a post shop when I know I'll be in the area.
You are one clever girl on the subject of backing a caravan. I’m going to get myself a toy car & caravan to practice backing. My caravan is permanently parked in a camping ground in Lawrence Otago at $1 per day. But there may be a time I need to move it somewhere. By the way it’s a great camping ground but it closes from Easter till Labour weekend.
$1 a day! That's amazing! Guessing it's a long term rate?
I enjoy your videos!God bless you! :) --Ginger
Thank you Ginger! Glad you're enjoying them 😀
Waiting waiting lol
hehe, I'm trying out a new RUclips function! See how it goes.
You’re so cute.
Reminder is turned on...…...
Great!
Worth waiting for K.... Best wishes for your UK visit.
Oh I'm glad! It's an interesting addition made by RUclips, isn't it?
There are no bishops in your Auckland...
Hi I am thinking of living full time in a motor home in NZ. Is there any support groups for single women doing the same. Thank u for inspiration. 😃
Come to Canada. I’ll give you a free spot at the park. Well, not free. I can give 5% discount (weekends excluded).
Maybe one day! And thank you for the 5% offer, hehe
Blackpool is not a nice place any more , I can think of better sea side resorts
Bit of a wild generalisation - there are some incredibly beautiful areas around and actually in Blackpool - an insensitive comment.
Depends on taste , and there are much nicer places IMO
paul dutchman Its the sweeping generalisation made without thinking that is hurtful to people who live and choose to holiday Blackpool. There are far too many insensitive comments or thumbs down given on You Tube. However we are all entitled to our opinions. Fun to chat.
Yes that’s my personal opinion, nothing wrong with having different views , it’s that that makes for a good democracy 😜
I agree totally
We beat South Africa this weekend at rugby , it’s the all blacks next
Oh yeah? That'll be interesting 😀
It be a miracle if we beat you ,couldn’t get any tickets , and the rugby tickets are so expensive over here
Hi Karen, are you going To terroris us with a Haloween vidéo ?
hahah there's a good idea!
