Just got the base model. Under 30K. I love it!!! So comfortable, excellent visbility, and plenty of space for myself and a friend or two. Excellent commuter car for city driving.

Also I don’t know too much about cars such a as engine etc lol. It is good on gas, it is very so smooth to drive, technology on the car is fairly easy to use and have apple car play which I enjoy. I have the two toned leather seats and still can’t get over how cute it looks, my mom has the ceramic sun roof and I wish mine had it. It’s amazing and it’s so big, she uses it 24/7 and keeps it open all the time. It had driver assistance (cruise control GODSEND, amazing, blind spot monitor, front and back assist, lane assist) which has helped me so much even though I consider myself a good driver lol, it’s definitely a plus to have as well as the back up camera. My only real complaint and same goes for my mom is that the Bluetooth sucks! Sometimes it will work when it wants to and other times it doesn’t, and I can’t charge my phone and listen to music at the same time. Soo lame. But I have paid off my car entirely and do not plan on getting a car anytime soon for quite a while and I am confident I will enjoy my car for a while. If you are like me and love cruisin or going on road trips, get the ceramic sunroof!! Soo worth it, wish I got it now that my car is paid off haha. Best of luck!

I’m wondering if the new VWs are still having the oil consumption problem? When I bought a new 2019 Jetta, the add engine oil light was on around the first 6000 miles. I was shocked! Dealer claimed it wasn’t topped off at the pre-delivery inspection. What kind of excuse was that? It was a brand new car that cost a lot of money!!! I didn’t believe that excuse anyway. Then same thing again between my next oil change. I had some other issues with the car and I got rid of it before I even had it one year. Glad I did. I use to be a bigger fan of VW but I don’t know I’d ever buy another.
I love VW but $34,000.00 for this is insane we just picked up a 2022 Outlander for the same price … beautiful interior soft touch everywhere pano roof Awd Bose Stereo 12 inch cockpit leather and suede seats. I sat in Taos absolutely no comparison for the same exact price .. plus a longer warranty and seven seats for the outlander . This is my first Mitsubishi and very impressed.
Lyn Woodward does a great job of describing this car in its entirety - she explains things very well - I am seriously considering selling my 19 Tiguan and getting a Taos, I need something a little smaller than what I have now due to 3 motorcycles in the garage and limited space. This girl knows her stuff, very well done....I watched the whole thing and I rarely do on car reviews...some are just stupid and I can't get past some with the idiot accents. As far as the car goes, the Taos is very impressive, I didn't like the dash comparison, my Tig has a rubber topped dash and is very nice quality. I would probably go with the S but I would like Sirius radio, heated seats, and a sunroof. I need to do more homework.
I’m excited about this. I had a Tiguan before VW redesigned and stretched it. It was such a fun zippy vehicle to drive. Looks like they brought it back, improved and rebadged it.

Lyn stated in this video that she is driving the AWD version. That version doesn't have a standard automatic transmission, it has a dual clutch transmission. It is going to feel a bit different especially in stop and go traffic (at least according to alex on autos).
VW used to have great materials even on their base cars... The drop in quality, coupled with the infuriating haptic switches on EVERYTHING definitely removes a brand I once admired from the consideration list.
Totally agree I owned a 2007 JettI Gli Fahrenheit edition one of my many VW I owned over the years now I sit in the TAOs Jetta and ID4 and say what the hell happened to Vw that cheap dash in the Atlas would never fly years ago at VW.

Can it display the Android Auto/Apple Carplay map on the digital speedometer that was mentioned in the video? Or is it the not-so-frequently-updated legacy map fitted by VW?
It will show Android Auto/Carplay next turn information (arrows, street names, and distance) but not the actual map itself. At least with Carplay I believe that's a limitation of Carplay itself, I'm not aware of any automakers that show the actual map from your phone in the cockpit.
It looks absolutely hideous and really cheap with the hard plastic. Looks more like the interior of your typical Ford or GM product with all that hard plastic.
Update! I tried the launch control of the 7 speed DCT on the Taos it works like charm, can't belive they advertise this vehicles as a 8.4 second 0-60 when in reality it can do 6.9 secons using regulat 87 gas when using launch con

Don't understand why you would pay that much for that unless you just really just have new and VW. We bought a 2017 Lincoln MZX a few months ago for $31k out the door . It was CPO so bumper to bumper 100k miles Ford warranty, has 21k miles on it, and is the trim just under Black label so it's loaded. It also has twice the horse power, much much nicer interior and I can probably bet much quieter and better ride.

My guess is because the passenger and cargo space numbers are very comparable to the Tucson or a RAV4. The Taos looks to be a bit of a hybrid of subcompact and compact.

After owning an SEL exactly like this over a year I will never recommended a TAOS or new VW to anyone. Check Engine light has came on at least 6 times, Transmission Leak, Multiple switches have broken including the entire window control on the driver side, Dash board screens glitch out several times a week, Turbo Lag is ungodly and dangerous in the rain paired with this transmission, Had to disable the lane assist and several other new technology feature due to safety concerns. Only thing I like now after a year is the color and adaptive cruise control. I recently bought a 2011 Scion and love it. I'll never buy a 2018+ yr car again. These are not German cars anymore there Mexico Built which is the root cause problem.
I don't understand why VW is trying so hard to become a premium brand, when they have Audi. They've been doing this for at least 20 years and it clearly isn't working for them.
As a Mk7 GTI owner who truly loves their car, I'm not sure what VW is up to with their recent models. Everything in the lineup seems like a step back or an increasingly poor value proposition. I don't understand it...
As to your complaints about the 7 speed... It's a dual clutch so it performs much better when manually shifted. However VW didn't spec it with paddle shifters, so it's less convenient to manually shift the car. If you want a smooth auto downshift and waft of acceleration with no fuss or driver input, just drive a CVT
I like the understated exterior looks of VW but you get inside and just want to retch. At least the wheel isn't covered in piano black capacitive buttons like the Mk 8 GTI.

34k gets you upper tier Mazda CX5 models..
34k doesn’t get you the same features as the Taos and worse gas mileage. And it gets you a middle trim not top trim.

A Q3 is smaller and gets worse gas mileage and starts at $37k comparably equipped.

It is the Jetta SUV, while the Tiguan is the Golf one. Clearly tailored for the American continent. Lacks interior refinement but it is big on space.

As a Mk7 GTI owner who truly loves their car, I'm not sure what VW is up to with their recent models. Everything in the lineup seems like a step back or an increasingly poor value proposition. I don't understand it...

As to your complaints about the 7 speed... It's a dual clutch so it performs much better when manually shifted. However VW didn't spec it with paddle shifters, so it's less convenient to manually shift the car.
If you want a smooth auto downshift and waft of acceleration with no fuss or driver input, just drive a CVT

I like the understated exterior looks of VW but you get inside and just want to retch. At least the wheel isn't covered in piano black capacitive buttons like the Mk 8 GTI.
