I think Donnie already referenced at least two other cartoons (counting this unreleased episode). First one being in the lair games, where he does the nom nom nom thing, it's a reference from the emperor's new groove. Also ig Raph kinda did the Korra meme in the show, when he said "are you trying to get Donnie fired?" in the library episode
I like to think Mikey is an avatar of chaos and unpredictability. And that because of this Splinter and Donnies reactions are justified, give it a week and I wouldn't be surprised if Mikey accidentally makes a mechanicus cult that worships the robopet as the Omnissiah
