Ugh…this has sold me on the Voigtlander 40mm as my prime lens for street and some landscape. Might still need to get an autofocus lens for doing tripod based selfies etc.

I was looking for a different lens for my Nikon Zf, Nikon has a plastic lens mount 40mm f2 but I don't like the build of the lens and while it's not a bad lens it doesn't do much for me as far as photography goes, I came across the 40mm voitelander f1.2 ,I was looking to get it on B&H PHOTO but they were sold out, Adorama camera did not have it listed, I ended up getting one on Amazon, I don't buy camera gear from them so I will see how it goes, I think it will be a good lens to use on the Nikon ZF. Take care, nice video.

Hi James, you will not be disappointed, it's a great little lens, fantastic in low light situations

very nice photos and edits! i cant decide between 40 vs 50 mm i want 40 but i also have sony 40 2.5g , idk if i should buy 40 1.2 and sell sony or buy 50 1.2 :/
also you are using E version of this lens , is there spesific reason you choose it over SE version?

It is a tough choice. It depends what you are shooting and what you are comfortable with. I used the 50mm 1.2 in Tokyo and thought it was a bit too tight for me. I do prefer the 40mm focal length. But the 50mm is an excellent lens. To be honest, I didn't know there was another e mount version, so just went with this one.

Thanks for this. I loved your images. Which button did you use to zoom for focus? Thanks

Thank you. As soon as you turn the barrel to focus, the magnification automatically kicks in. It's a very good feature.

Incredible. Thank you. Do you use presets? If so, do you mind sharing which ones? Your editing is superb.

Thanks very much Michael 🙂. I've an ongoing love hate relationship with editing! I would cycle through the standard presets in lightroom to get an idea of the look I want for each image, and then replicate the look via the hsl sliders and colour wheels etc.

this video has me truly contemplating do I get 35mm or do I go for 40mm. I'm so confused! oh, and I love the composition of the your photos.

Thank you. I think it would come down to personal preference, and if you require auto focus. I find 40mm is the sweet spot for me between 35 and 50mm. The voightlander is a cracking lens tho👌
