It's 2020 and I still feel so mad about the elimination. The judges wanted Ally to win so bad, they saved her one too many times. I need an All star season with him, Milo Manheim and Juan Pablo- The three men that deserved better.

Oh my gosh for sure it's so unfair because it's only decided based on fan votes, most who know nothing about ballroom dance technique

James Van Der Beek, the very guy whose crying scene on Dawson's Creek became gif, actually had great moves. I was feeling sorry for Lindsay when Sean Spicer was paired with her.
If there's another all star season he needs to be there!
Okay, I don't even watch DWTS but I came here because JVDB co-starred in a series in 2012 The B**** in Apt 23, playing a fictional version of himself. His "character" was prepping for DWTS and he actually performed the same steps at 1:35 on the series.
I agree on the Samba being his most technically perfect dance. However, my favorite was the Week 8 Contemporary. His lifts were professional quality.
He was underscored on his Foxtrot. Shoulda been a 30. There was no technical fault. 27 my ass 😂
I think he is by far the best dancer to ever be on that show who is an actual "star" and not an Olympic skater or athlete.

He should have won I’m crying my eyes out
He was underscored throughout the entire season as well
James -better from week one onward then anybody else in the running & only one set of 10s for all the extra effort, all the steps, all the in character, everything he did & no mercy for a dead baby -a very emotional time but no gifts no acknowledgement of any sympathy for him and his family. Lauren Alaina never got any tens and there were times from the beginning onward that she was very good, natural, elegant and it went unnoticed - scores went elsewhere. Kel is also very talented and he is like James lifting and leading, which when he did high school musical it was excellent, incredible - and finally he got a couple of 10s later but he had perfect dances underscored too. Perhaps James should begin his own show on CBS, as DWTS is over.

If only they chose him over Ally......after 3 times in the bottom and his consistently great performances, I will NEVER understand that decision. Between the loss of his child and that devastating elimination, James didn't deserve any of it. His dances make me smile until I remember how things ended. But I will probably never get tired of his light it up samba

Rumor has it that James requested that he be eliminated the night he was. I don’t know how true that is, but I think it’s because he didn’t want to do it anymore
The week he was eliminated his wife had a miscarriage so if that is true it would make sense.
that would make sense and it's what I thought too: but on his instagram he talked about all the things he's been through recently and he mentioned "I was booted off of a reality dance show I was favored to win". That's a paraphrase and it wasn't salty at all because James is so kind, it was more just sadness but his wording and tone gave the impression he was sad he was eliminated.

I know this comment is really late but it’s true. His wife had a miscarriage and he wanted to go home and be with his wife and kids. He made some really emotional posts and comments about it
Instead of putting Ally down, you guys should consider that Ally and James BOTH deserved to be in the finale. It's public voting that was messing Ally up, but she did amazing as well. The top 3 in my opinion should have been Ally, James and Kel. But WE ALL knew that Hannah was going to win bc she is partnered with ABC from Bachelorette to DWTS. Everybody knew she was going to win. Aside from that James did not want to be there anymore. The only reason why he stayed is because his wife asked him to dance. Kel James and All finale would have been the best with Hannah in fourth.

Between Ally and James, I think James should have stayed because he is a better technical dancer and he was the most fun. Also, I think James should have stayed because Ally was in the bottom two 3 times.

I agree that he shouldn't have been eliminated. He could have surely won the mirror ball...but his wife had just suffered a tragic miscarriage the week prior. Perhaps that's why they chose not to save him? So he could devote his whole energy to his family? But yes, by all means, bring on the all-star season!
