the knot you are calling a scaffold knot is actually a double fishermans knot around the standing end forming a sliding loop

Thank you for teaching me how to make a ladder. I practiced it (mini scale) and it came to my mind that it can be useful to carry someone who cannot walk by reducing the spacing between the logs, like a bed.

One of my favourite knots! This knot is so versatile, this one knot can turn into a Stopper Knot, Bowline, Slip Knot and also used to join two ropes together, Just love it!

So from what I can tell, a Marlin Spike Hitch is actually just a slip knot, is this correct?

I will first show my grand-kids your video, and then as a "safety project" we will make ladders out of mule tape as a means to climb out of a window in an emergency. We will also use your demonstrated bowline knots to fasten the rope ladder to window sill hooks. The next project will be to use this method to make a "hasty" swing while camping. And yes, now that I've subscribed, I will certainly share your channel. Thanks for posting this terrific information!

When you first explained scaffold knot I was a bit confused but the second I saw the X( shortly followed by double barrels) I knew it was esentially a double overhand knot with a bite.
Is there a reason it is called a scaffold knot and not just double overhand

Curious to see what you think of the Midshipman's knot and what would be the best uses for it. I use it for a sliding/locking loop on fishing flies when you need more action to the fly, but I though it might be a good substitute for the scaffold knot.
