I have about 1400 hrs played since the beta, reached the 5k cap on penance points, and play normal Damnation as a warmup. Here’s some of my tips.
-Ping everything. Ammo, Stims, enemies, crates, everything. There’s no downside to having more information, just don’t be annoying and spam it. Mark the ground with “Go here!” before dropping a medkit because you can’t mark them once they’re deployed like you can with ammo crates.
-Ammo crates are four charges, not ammo-quantity-based. Don’t double dip by deploying ammo, taking a charge, shooting for a little bit, then taking another charge.
-Prioritize taking less damage. You can’t purge the heretics when you’re dead. Dodge often, block often, and push-attack often. Spamming left click and doing nothing else will get you killed.
-Learn the Crusher’s “groaning” audio queue for the overhead swing that will oneshot any full HP character besides a blocking Ogryn and Zealot with Undying. Crusher patrols often blend into a blob in close quarters, making it nearly impossible to see one specific animation.
-There is no shame in allowing yourself to be carried. If one player is very clearly popping off, you can support them to carry harder by giving them ammo, peeling trash mobs, and shoot ‘em with a stim if the situation calls for it.
-Loner/Shroudfield Zealot should be hovering around the team, roaming around where they’re needed, and grabbing crafting materials. They should not be sprinting ahead of the team, pulling all of the enemies on the map, and making the AI director spawn specials on repeat, then dropping aggro by pressing Shroudfied and making your teammates deal with all of the enemies that you have aggro’d now heading right to them.
-Have an answer ready for the armored enemies. Some weapons have higher armor penetration than others, and their head isn’t always their weakspot.
-Teamwork is OP. Coherency is OP. There is never a bad time to spam “For the Emperor!” with the social wheel. In fact, hotkey it on an F-key. If you’re an Ogryn using the rock, show it to your teammates in the elevator. They _will_ be impressed, sweet brute.

If only player stop tryna speed run Heresy or higher difficulty because they can't wait. The amount of times I had to deal with all the rusher trash they left for me and the other 2 teammates with me. When the rusher died and can be rescued I'd left them or if I get trigger I just leave the game outright and find another group.
There is 0 and I MEAN 0 reason to rush through each and every mission when it's more rewarding to move together and explore each area for picks up. But ugh, I swear this problem is really common in Asia server and it's not as often in other servers like EU or NA which I switch and play on often even tho the menu says the ping is between 100-200Ping but what can I do ? I'm an individual and I can only do so much, I mean I can't rescue myself from a trapper that decided to spawn behind my back and trap me while I was fighting hordes + Carpace armor dudes

    Pro tips
    - Use headset. the ability to hear which direction specialists comes from will be a gamechanger until you just know (For a lack of better reasoning to not use headset) Use your ears. 90% of the time you can hear all you need to know how to deal with a situation. Trappers´/dogs highest priority always.
    - Change your keybinds to SPACE is dodge only and any other key (Mine is ALT left) to jump since you rarely want to jump. by doing this you will never jump instead of dodge by accident since that can kill you. Change TAG to mousewheel UP or DOWN. spamming tags is never a bad thing since that can signal LOTS of enemies ahead, just scroll like a madman to tag that distant sniper who is causing issues. Personally I almost always tag enemies right infront of me so I know exactly where they are at all times.
    - Make sure you yourself can deal with any enemy type. Blessings like Mercy killer or (my favourite of the two) Uncanny strike will let you deal with crushers/maulers in an effective way with only a single blessing instead of possibly wasting a weaponslot/talent points.
    - unless you know what you are doing STICK to your team. rather spend 10-15 extra minutes and take it slow rather than spending 30 mins just to wipe. There is no time limit so take it slow.
    - When fighting monsters be aware of whats around you. In general monsters don't do all that much damage if kited. It's more important to kill specialists/Gunners around you.

Warning, essay of a post here, got a little too into explaining but hope you find this insightful.
TLDR: learning situational awareness to make crucial decisions can save runs, don't let yourself tunnel vision or haphazardly rush into situations that you aren't certain you can handle
This is loosely touched on in this video but I really wanted to highlight this. Situational awareness is the name of the game. Having a mental note of what enemies are on the field, where they are, where your teammates are, where you are in the map and where nearby kiting areas or resource deposits are, and your and your teammates loadouts and current resources, are essential at high levels of play. You cannot make crucial decisions if you aren't aware of the situation that your team is currently in.
Being able to tell when your team can efficiently deal with a situation or when you need to give up ground and retreat to a more favorable position can save runs. Too many times have I seen people push up into situations they can't handle or get tunnel visioned on one objective and die as a result. You should always be aware of what's happening and what your team can and can't handle based on map positioning, team positioning, enemy composition, and resources.
However, this is not a simple skill to learn. It's a combination of experience with different team compositions in different maps against different enemy compositions. Building a baseline knowledge of class abilities and enemy attacks helps a ton, but ultimately the primary way to gain the intuition needed for quick situation assessment is through experience.
If you try to actively be aware of the situations your team is in, make judgement calls based on those decisions, and then reflect on the outcomes of those decisions then your intuition for this judgement calls will grow much faster than normal.
Here's some examples of how decision making based off the situation your team is in impacts games (from personal experience and my perspective):
I am a zealot using crusher, immolation grenades, and chorus. It is the start of a map and my team has no notable resources outside of what we spawn with. I am currently in a wide corridor with several branch off rooms. Ahead of me is a long hallway leading to a large open circular room with a revive station at the far side of the room, and a Medicae station on the way out of the room.
We had an unlucky plague ogryn spawn, horde, and elite spawns at the start and my team gets split into groups of two. Me and a teammate are furthest back with the plague ogryn and horde while my other two teammates are getting pushed forward by elites when one gets trappered and the other goes down. Shortly after the one teammate left gets cornered by the plague ogryn and is losing health.
In this situation I am the only teammate in a decent situation, but knowing the current composition of enemies, I have no way of getting to the two teammates that are split off, even if I did push over, I wouldn't be able to stagger the elites long enough to get revives nor would I be able to kill the elites fast enough to get revives. Also, I'd be abandoning my one alive teammate to solo a plague ogryn and horde with mixed specials while I split us up even more. Ultimately I decide that keeping us two alive is our best bet, so I throw a grenade and chorus to give us toughness and stagger the ogryn off my teammate, he gets out, and we fall back to deal with the elites, specials, horde, and ogryn that are coming from our fallen teammates.
So, first judgement call was to prioritize keeping my close teammate alive as I knew I didn't have the tools to save them, and would risk losing my last teammate to the ogryn.
Shortly after, my teammate unfortunately gets thrown into the middle of everything by a mutie and goes down, as I'm on cooldown for my ability, there is zero things I can do for that teammate so I am forced to back off and prioritize my own survival. At this point my current priority is to get to the large open room ahead where revives will return, where I can kite effectively, and where I can get medicae if needed. I did manage to get to that room, and managed to kite and kill the majority of the horde and elites, but due to the low damage build I was running I wasn't able to kill the plague ogryn or keep up with the constant feed of specials, so I eventually died to mutie bs. Despite that, I had several moments where the only thing prevent me from getting the revives was the plague ogryn, and was forced to fall back to avoid taking damage from the ogryn in an attempt at the revives. Despite it being a loss, there was no better choices I could have made given the situation, as sometimes your teammates are put into bad situations that you aren't equipped to deal with so you just have to cut your losses and get yourself in a position where you can't be put in the same situation your teammates were.
All of this is part of being situationally aware so you can make those key decisions, as they can often times save your runs, or at the very least give you a really fun solo clutch attempt.

A small tip that works on any difficulty, is to increase the brightness to maximum.
This might seem odd, but Darktide is a very, well, "dark" game, as implied in the name.
More brightness really helps to notice and tag specialists and have a better horde management.

16:40, or learn to Slide Rush, not only is this useful for conserving stamina over long distances, but it completely counters non-spray (ie fire/vomit) based ranged attacks if successfully timed. Also, Bull Rush is suicidal against gun lines without some intervening melee blockers as it does not provide any I-Frames.

One big tip I found out is that doors that you open/close can be used to control the flow of enemies, fighting next to doors while quickly closing them and letting the mobs open them, you can spam through the door but the AI is kinda slow in how it reacts to players fucking their path finding. I myself once killed over 100 enemies while alone and seperated from my team by using this method.

Well, just my opinion but as someone who only plays maelstrom i got some little tips:
    - If you play with random then trust no one, dont trust them to kill the dog in their direction, dont trust them to take care of the horde behind you, and dont trust them to leave ammo for you, you have to prepare to do everything on your own, so always bring at least 1 one weapon that can deal with heavy armor enemies and always dodge when you hear the sound cue regardless of where the special is and save ammo for special only
    - If you play Ogryn and your team has a pea-shooter vet (lasgun or headhunter gun) try not to block their line of sight because their shot cant get through you
    - If you have build center around horde clearing then run up when you see the horde to keep them argo to you so that your team dont get surrounded (but sometimes the AI fuck up and they just run pass you)
    - Always keep at least 1 bomb in your possession, that 1 bomb can save your entire team from a surrounded situation
    - If you play vet with golden tag key point then please PING 1 TIME, i dont understand people spamming the ping with that key point, it just reset the tag count and annoy the shit out of others
    - DONT SHOOT BURSTERS WHEN THERE'S PEOPLE NEAR THEM
    - Some range weapons with special action that push (bolter, headhunter autogun, bolt piston) can also be used to push bursters in case you have no stamina and using range weapons

  • @Heavynaut
    @Heavynaut 2 месяца назад +3

Target prioritization and working as a team are probably the two skills not core directly to combat I think are important. I want to highlight: taking out threats before they become a threat. If you are capable it is often beneficial to push and dodge the enemies immediately in melee with you in order to pull off a shot on specials like dogs, trappers, and flamers before they get close enough to do any real damage. Same goes for bombers, especially tox bombers whom will make your melee life harder. This, imo is sometimes a worthwhile act even if it sacrifices some health or toughness when out of other options (particularly in a solo or duo clutch scenario or extremely heated scenario even if everyone is alive) in order to ensure nobody gets disabled or to reduce mental tax (avoiding fire terrain or gas from bombers and flamers for example while managing the horde). All classes are capable of doing this as the push in DT is insanely strong; otherwise taunt stun, bullrush cancel, VOC stun, relic on zealot, stealth, there are so many options to make this safer.
Secondly teamwork, in combination of target priority. If a teammate is pinned by a trapper net or especially a dog pounce it is pertinent to protect them. Especially if it is simply a dog, any small stagger could save them. Throw a grenade to buy them time, briefly use smite, taunt, charge, throw some lead down range. Weapons with terrain penetration like the plasma gun are awesome for this. They’re in a compromised position where they cannot negate damage other than activated passives/buffs. If you are a standing player know when you can and cannot contribute to saving a disabled or downed teammate. More often than not, you can. Surely know when to prioritize yourself and let a teamate die. You cant save them all. But even if they’re across the map a well placed grenade or weapon fire could be the difference of their death and impending pressure on you. Saving teammates ultimately makes your life easier.
That said, simple combat stuff. If you see a rager barreling towards a teammate who is unawares and you’re not preoccupied with something serious why not engage to help them? Make sure you’re not walking away from knocked down (and not dead) chaff enemies. Use your mark to identify threats you might not be able to take out yourself or even isn’t a threat to you. Marking alone is a point of teamwork that I feel people don’t use often enough. Every player regardless of class has access to limited time x-ray vision that makes targeting its weak spots through the horde easier, as well as seeing where it is and where it’s going for some time. A skill amongst all else for Tide games is knowledge.

    My 2 tips
If you are alone, then your team didn't leave you, you either didn't keep up or you left them. But also on the flipside when pushing always make sure the last guy isn't getting hung up.
Quick way of learning weapon combos, first see what the light and heavy attacks are. If an attack is horizontal (diagonal also included thought it is a little of both) it is meant for horde and vertical is meant for single target. If you go from l1 (light 1) and follow it with a heavy it will be h2 (heavy 2). so basically you can string together horizontal or vertical attacks from different attack strings. Also learn what yoru push attack is, as in horizontal or vertical. With this little bit of knowledge i can generally pick up any weapon and figure it out without rote memorization.

Charge into the fight and left click spam everything to death, devils claw parry 2shots crushers, learn to aim with revolver it is the single strongest range weapon in the game

Knowing which of your two weapons u can run faster with can make it good when getting from place to place, run cost does the same
Dodge count is essential as running out means your dodges become non-existent, take a short 2-3 second break and it should refill

And also one more thing, a psyker with infinite burning smite build is practically invincible without nurgle's blessing modifier, you can cc the entire room and almost all enemies (save for monster) and let you team have time to pick out special and elites and make boss encounter into a 3v1 situation. It makes one of the hardest modifiers in maestrom "mostly melee" looks like a joke and you dont even need a good weapon, all you need to learn is when to use smite and finding a choke point to use it. So if you're struggling to get the auric storm survivors, you can use this build and stay away from map with nurgle's blessing

If you're not playing Ogryn, get some extra stamina! You probably even want triple stamina regen and 1, 2 or 3 sprint efficiency depending on the weapon and build for all classes. I cannot tell you how many newer players die on auric damnation just because they cannot out run trash units to make it back to their team.

All stamina trinkets, 3 gunner resistance, 3 toughness regen and 3 sniper resistance

@padmad3832 You're trolling surely. All your doing is giving yourself a larger pool that you'll struggle to replenish during fights. Gunner resistance is diminishing returns with any toughness DMG reduction so if you feel you need only worth 1, when you could just dodge slide. Toughness regen only effects coherency and doesn't work near enemies so very niche and snipers are easy to dodge.

for difficulty and when to move up in difficulty, imho the game does a pretty good job at kinda streamlining that, white guns for t1, green t2, blue t3, purple t4, gold t5, assuming you have a full set of gear of the appropriate colour per the difficulty you shouldn't have any problems as your exp kinda lines up with level 5,10,15,20,25, then fine tuning your build for standard/auric damnation in the last 5 levels with the last few points

1600+ hours, maxed out all characters and gear. I suggest everyone new to Tide games plays their first several matches as Ogryn. You're hard to kill and even at Level 1, you are formidable in melee, making it easier to learn the melee system. While there are a few builds that can work for ranged only (Veteran and Psyker), you need to be 30th level and high level equipment for them to work, you have no choice but to learn to fight in melee. But good news, the melee combat is awesome. Also, team support abilities combined with team play are very, very powerful.
All classes have a variety of good builds, but here are some starter guidelines.
-Ogryn is strongest in melee at level 1, and second strongest in melee at level 30, and is generally hard to kill, with some builds being nearly invulnerable to all but certain enemies.
-Veteran mostly plays like an FPS character, and is only formidable in melee once the player is good at the melee system. Strong support abilities (Veteran shout).
-Zealot isn't the easiest character to start out with, but grows into the most formidable class in melee, with very strong support abilities (Chorus).
-Psyker is really rough to start out with, but once mastered becomes a ranged damage powerhouse. Those first 15 levels are brutal though, because you're so weak in melee and don't really have much psyker power either yet. The blaze force swords are Psyker's strongest melee weapons by far (deflector, kinetic deflection, block efficiency). The force staves are Psyker's strongest ranged weapons by far, as you deal a lot of DPM and also don't need ammo.

2 friends and I were doing auric maelstrom’s for our auric storm survivor and the random guy we matched with kept dying, ended up talking with them and it turned out to be their first auric mission, had to explain a few things to them and that it’s ok to die a lot but don’t try the maelstrom right away for auric since it’s much different with modifies, they also didn’t really have a build set up

learn the game in uprising skip malice cuz it is nothing but bottom of the barrel brain dead randoms. I just did a malice at level 17, every team member is over lvl 100, only 1 person broke 100 kills none of them broke 10 elites. I had 3 times base and boss damage as the whole team combined, over 400 basic kills and over 40 elites. Malice is were the worst of darktide players live
