I'm going to suggest that they DID do their research... It's well within their sense of humor to insert "mistakes" as Easter eggs. Earl's bad flossing, Geoff's backwards bass guitar, Layne facing the wrong way, etc. I bet if you rewatch again, you will catch 1 mistake in each section.
I know the three oldies but loved all of it. I understand that Eli was briefly singing in Korean hiring the BTS number.
Yes they did this live but without the costume changes. There is a clip of Geoff trying to get the audience to continue singing YMCA, motions and all.
the live version was never the same as this one. some of the same artists, maybe some songs, but this was special.

When you see the 4 people off to the side and the guy says “you should see the size of his wallet” that is Earl’s boyfriend. The women are the other guys wives. The big guy who drops the sandwich as he walks past is Rek, their long time friend that passed and is the one they dedicate HALO to.
I think this was voiceplay's most expensive production because of song rights. I'm still not sure they have made money from views because of that
The fellow that brought the sub sandwich to the while they were around the trashcan is Rek who was immortalized in Halo theme. VoicePlay just dropped a new one - Total Eclipse of the Heart!
the single ladies' dance (from Beyonce) is SO fun (during song 4 in this compilation) 😄

As usual for most music videos these days, the audio is recorded first in a professional studio, and edited. This is then played back when shooting the video and the singers either lip sync or sign along, but the audio from the video session does not get used. So an unplugged microphone changes nothing, except your suspension of disbelief.
