Thanks, Noah. "Light as a Feather" landed about 1972 when I was just coming into my own as a piano player. All my friends, on whatever instruments, were just blown away by the waves of optimism and joy and power in the music, as well as Chick's mastery of the Fender Rhodes, its wah-wah pedal, and the warm distortion of his amps. It was really a watershed album. We all learned "Spain" right that very year.
It hits diff when he had an immortal image on my mind. He truly lived through every era and styles. I loved Chick’s “ten drummers” concept.. RIP master.
This is so wonderful. I'm 70+ years old. Played in clubs often from age 15. It was a rough ride. If only you could have helped me back in the day........still thanks so much I am loving this.
I met Chick Corea back when I was a teenager when Chick played mini concerts at the Fort Harrison Hotel in Clearwater Florida while he was involved in the Church of Scientology. Been a fan of Chick for over 55 years. Thanks Noah. Appreciate all your work for understanding Chick's music.
Chick was def. a pioneer, and graceful. Out of the box king, and truly friendly. Loved when he teamed with Gonzalo. Noah love all you do,and thank you for teaching me.
One thing to think about is the geometry at the time Chick created for this project. His approach and ability to mold a new sound to the project he worked on was paramount. He always talked about listening, recording yourself, transcribing...and as a player working on things; you will know what to work on. Chick had a canny way of inventing a new sound from his toolbox of goodies and creating a completely new landscape.
My go to would be the live album "Trilogy" with Christian McBride and Brian Blade as well as his very recent studio album "Antidote" with some of the greatest flamenco musicians I know (being a Spaniard and flamenco lover I had to pick that one as my favourite). Thank you so much Noah for all your lessons and specially this one. Hopefully we can all start passing on his legacy!! R.I.P. Chick
Wow. I’ve wanted this analysis since I bought ‘The Leprechaun’ album on vinyl at a garage sale sometime in the early 1970’s. That was 50 years ago. I’ve had jazz piano teachers over the years who couldn’t give me what you have just done on this video. Thank you thank you thank you. I get it!!!!
So true-- one thing I love about him too is how many bright colors he adds. Just in general though I love that you used the word color, his music makes me think of so many different bright colors in general, know what I mean?
Noah, thank you so much for this wonderful roundup tribute to Chick and his playing. You are a great player and teacher. I really enjoy your vids. After a career as a working pro in Australia I have used Covid as an opportunity to go back and study all the stuff I should have learned better in my youth. Now I have a ton of new things to practice because of this fabulous video! Thanks!. RIP Chick. M

@@joseph2707 Nice one 👏 you are totally entitled to your opinion and I encourage you to seek out the information that works best for you and your learning style. That said, the whole concept of unsubscribing from a channel with literally hundreds of free videos that took years of work to create, and feeling the need to leave a critical comment about it, is simply unnecessary, disrespectful and not helpful. If on the other hand you wanted to provide some constructive feedback about this video and/or videos as a whole, that’s encouraged and appreciated.
My comment speaks for itself. It's not phrased in the magic words you prefer, but criticism is perfectly valid and, for you, necessary. To be charitable, you were disrespectful with our time. You were dishonest in your responses. You know you were trying to get us to watch your long intro because you thought you would profit from it. Here is your "profit." Was it worth it?
@@joseph2707 Hey Joseph, this was literally the first-ever live stream that I did. I had no intention of wasting anyone's time, and yet again you are speaking to someone who has spent years upon years generating free content for folks online. As it is, I am also putting together lots of free lessons and live streams and group lessons in my Discord community as well, generating a notable amount of high quality free lessons that take a ton of work. As is true for many online creators, this is my bread and butter, so again my point is unsubscribing because one single video on my channel had a longer intro than you like, even if it had promotional material included is 100% your loss. By the way, I do again appreciate constructive feedback, will keep in mind shorter intros (in fact, I already do in more recent videos, as again this is a many years old video) and if you'd ever like to join the community or attend any of the free group lessons, ear training sessions, and live streams, you are welcome, despite this less-than-encouraging exchange. I wish you all the best in your endeavors and hope you find a channel you enjoy learning from.
