Thanks for your honest points of view. I agree. 20 years ago Ecuador was considered one of the safest country, including Guayaquil and Quito. The good thing in Vilcabamba and Loja is the positive influence coming from the other side of the border. The region between Cuenca Loja and northern andean Peru is safe. This includes the list of town and cities as Cuenca, Loja , Vilcabamba, Cajamarca, Chachapoyas, Bagua, Moyobamba Tarapoto, etc. There are several "vilcabambas" over there
Excellent guys. We’re back after being away for 6 months and just returned for good and experienced that rash of break-ins; then checked in with the police. Very impressive.
Thank you for confirming. I've been living in Ecuador for 3 months now, Quito, Banos and Cuenca and my experience has been the same. Couple of dodgy areas in Quito. But in the mountains in Cuenca it's safer than in the UK. Planning to check out Vilcabamba so it's great that you have confirmed that the break ins are not usual activity. Ty.
Thanks fellas . I wanna live with peace. Some reports had me Rush to cancel my dream of living in Ecuador. What you did was very responsible displaying real leadership. Im going to come visit you . Maybe 2 years. Thanks again.
Good points, thank you for sharing. I thought you would bring up the new rigths for civilians to finally be able to defend themselves and bear arms that the president authorized just a few days ago. I am Swedish but am in North Carolina, my county is very pro 2A and I tell you, there is very little violent crimes and break ins here, because a risk analysis of a thief tells them they have a 90% risk of getting shot so it is not worth it. Only crimes that happen is when criminals go on eachother, drug deals gone wrong and stuff like that.
Thanks Magnus - we’ve got you covered! This was a short clip from our long-form podcast that will release this Saturday. We hit firearm topic there, so be sure to stay tuned.
Thanks so much for sharing... It's kind of "funny" howva lot (the majority) of Europe, constantly warn against Ecuador (South America) and, at the same time, constantly "forget" to look inward.. I experience more awareness and "community" (whatever that is) from Ecuador than I do from/in Europe which is very sad, - especially sad for the old colonials.. Thanks again for sharing and, enjoy your weekend 💕💓💕
great vid! How does one find out about this community watch group? I am single retired woman, will be moving down in the next month or two from Loja, finding a rental. I am not concerned about any personal safety issues, I walk everywhere alone for example, but getting my home broken into and stuff stolen would be a real drag, I definitely want to know about being able to avoid this sort of thing!
Good question! Are you already in the Vilcabamba area or considering the move here? There are multiple Telegram and WhatsApp groups that exist for the greater area as well as specific neighborhood groups. We can help you get connected when you arrive!
@@AbundantLivingEcuador I am in Loja right now. Have been there several times but never had time to really explore around. I am coming next weekend for actual scouting...I will definitely stop by your office if I make the move!
