That's because broccoli in Japanese is spelled very similar to the English way of saying it.

As a former ESL teacherI just want to tell you that, regardless of any other method you use for learning English. You already have the most important part down: you are willing to just _try_. You don’t mind not knowing the “right” word and you’re totally comfortable, as we say in English, “throwing something against the wall and seeing what sticks.”

5:39 English tip #2 If it's written in katakana then there is a %90 chance that it is close to the English equivalent. This isn't always true like for パン, which in English is bread, (It's Portuguese) or パソコン which is a shortening of the combination of "personal computer" that no one in the west uses. But this will generally work (unless it's an onomatopoeia, like ピカピカ, or an animal name simplification like カメ which is obviously not from English)
ブロコリ is broccoli (pronounced brakoli) and パンダ is panda (pronounced panda)
Now that I think about it, it makes sense why you were confused on panda. It's an animal name, so you probably thought it was a native Japanese word.

How cool and brave you are, to try learning and talking a different language. Awesome. I did try to look into Japanese but my brain is fatigued from to much stress so had to give it up. The best is to talk and read and watch video from the language you want to learn all the time 24/7. Listen to it even if you do not understand much. The best is to talk with native people of the language you want to learn.
Edit: And I wish I could say 'yes that's right' or 'slow down' to let your brain make the mouth form the sounds better.
This is weird to me, but its the first time (I think) that I've seen a video like this. Keep at it, with English you can talk to soo many more people :)

It is already good when you don't need subtitles to understand what you mean to say. Even if the english is not perfect yet, it is already good for communication!
