  • Stalemate at the BRIDGE! Villa carries on into 2024 having yet to concede, or lose...and that's now 1 goal conceded at Chelsea in the last 4 visits. Pete the Canadian Villa fan has a detailed look back, in what now feels like half-time of a two legged series with the replay upcoming. Although the home side looked VERY different from the one Villa beat last fall, the visitors stuck to the task, overcame some series pressure and perhaps...will feel disappointed about not being more clinical on the chances they created. Pour yourself something...sit back, and savour Villa analysis and conjecture from across the pond!

    Newcastle's away record is very poor this season. So it's important we capitalise on our amazing home form and take all 3 points

    We desperately need Torres and Digne back from injury imo.
    Play better football with both in the team.
    Ramsey absence is more concerning. Since his ‘comeback’ game I believe he’s missed more games than played through injury.
    When he has played he hasn’t been anywhere near his best. He was outstanding for us last season especially when Emery arrived. I just don’t see where he fits in now with the midfield we have?

    Most sides have a rough patch during the season and we're in it. Injuries and some form are contributing significantly, but on the bright side, we're still getting results. Can't get away from the importance of Big Emi either. He's won us points on his own and kept us in the cup.
    I'm confident we'll get our second wind when players get back up to speed or get back to fitness. I just hope we recapture the early scoring form when we come to March.

    PLAYER OF THE MATCH: EMI MARTINEZ. Game changer of a man.
    Bottom line is we are quite one dimensional at times and get found out. Chelsea had a fronline press from Madueke, Gallagher, and Palmer that anyone would have been proud of. Stop us playing out from the back and have no choice but to try a ball over the top which needs to be pin point but rarely works. They get the ball back and Sterling looked the man of old and once again Catty Mash got destroyed. Madueke strong and very nuisance-like. Chelsea have turned a corner and fair play. The game should have been ours home or away due to having rest and Chelsea hadn't had much rest but it worked out the opposite, too much rest for our boys made them off it? Maybe. We need less passive players and more aggression. FFP in place there's only so much we can do by way of new player additions. Are we missing Torres, Digne.... of course. Dougie looked off it. Lehmann causing him head problems? Maybe. We need stronger more heavyweight players especially in midfield and up front. Has anyone seen Diaby??. Diaby is frightened to do his thing and be the dribble king he's capable alright but he just plays the ball off to get rid of it that's not Diaby at all.
    Result in the 2nd leg at Villa Park? Draw, penalties.... WE ARE OUT!.....UNLESS OUR KEEPER SAVES TWO OR MORE!

    Not sure why you felt the need to mock and belittle Klopp's decision to leave Liverpool. If he wants to step down that's his business. I dont think we have or are entitled to all his reasons. The only reason he did the interview was because his hand was forced. Other than that great podcast as always! UTV.

      Absolutely agree! I love the show, Pete, but that Klopp comment was a cheap shot: you're better than that. Klopp has been a fantastic manager and - despite the occasional flaw (like all of us!) - a first-class human being.

    If I could wave a magic wand I'd build that AI generated stadium on that huge empty plot that's next to the Bull Ring.
    I love Villa Park but that goes hand in hand with my love of Aston Villa. I'm sick of our grand old club been disrespected by clubs that were once in our shadow.
    That stadium in that location would massively increase revenue, tourists visit beautiful and unique buildings, they pay for tours, buy merchandise, they visit in huge numbers when the location is convenient and right next to Curzon Street station is about as convenient as you can get. Be pretty damned convenient for us fans as well on a matchday.

      @@cureit9161 Guess we'll find out but if increasing revenue drastically is the aim then 20,000 extra seats in Aston and a venue that only earns for a few hours on matchdays isn't it.

    Aston Villa goes further than a football club it’s blood and when you stand on the Holte end and you want to attack the away supporters with venom and absolute might , not just singing pathetic girlie cliche football songs , are you prepared to do the business? Cause not you’ll shit your pants and run ! Don’t worry it will end up in a shittey European bowl next to the NEC , great train links though , and enough pop corn you can eat and still be chasing Crystal Palace in the league

    • @cureit9161
      @cureit9161 4 месяца назад

      People talk about the 159 year heritage of Villa park buy that's not true, we starting in Aston lower grounds and the old stand at VP is the North and its 48 years old......I say move, replicate Wembley and use the money from the failed HS2 link. Its all open ground at the NEC!

  • @leejohnson3209
    @leejohnson3209 4 месяца назад

    It's clearly not on the agenda, but I'd be all for a move from VP. I'm less sentimental about bricks and mortar the older I get. Fancy that?
    Age has made me understand that nothing can stay the same forever. Times change, things move on.
    If we did move it would be a mistake to try and build a modern Edwardian looking stadium. Due to modern building requirements and building standards new builds trying to copy past styles always just look fake and tacky to me, like Las Vegas.
    Make it super modern, glass, elevators, LED walls the lot. I would like to see an architect try and do it without it looking like a bowl. A large single tier as the 'home end' is a must.

    • @anthonyduffy1278
      @anthonyduffy1278 4 месяца назад

      Not with you on this one Lee.
      The Unique Selling Point of Aston Villa, is that the club is literally dripping in history.
      Move from Villa Park and you are jettisoning a large chunk of that history.

    • @ijl-cy9pp

      A cording to some, cancelling the redevelopment and not moving shows a lack of ambition. I think we are saving the money and something tells me the failed HS2 at the NEC has something to do with it. A purpose built station straight from Brum, just a 20 minute ride away, you can build heritage into a new design but come on, we need to move and I think we will.
