Jason Davenport Really? Aww man. I was thinking about buying one of these since they are so cheap... I'm coming out of a 2013 Dodge Avenger.. That sorry ass car didn't even last 4 years with only 78000 miles on it. I want a Toyota, Honda, Hyundai or even a Kia now after my experience with Dodge.
SPIRITUAL ISRAEL comes with a 60k bumper to bumper warranty and 100k power train for warranty how is that not peace of mind . Nobody else is touching that
I just bought this car in white and the interior in the white car looks better it’s very smooth to drive and I needed a car that felt safe and smooth to drive since my son will be born in 3 months and this car is Definitely something I was looking for
In my opinion, I think Hyundai should've just made Push-button and Smart Key Acess standard for SEL and above and leave the regular key or put a switchblade on SE models.
DJ Wheat Car Reviews yeah that key fob still makes it known it’s a cheap vehicle. They did a good job with everything else for the most part. I mean at least switch blade key
Looking into one of these.. budget is below 20k. I’d rather have new than something certified from another car maker. I had a 2003 Hyundai Accent. It was just when Hyundai was really starting to turn the corner and shed the reputation of bad reliability. I ran that car into the ground like 150k miles. I stopped keeping up with maintenance and it still would run point A to point B at the end. When the transmission gave out before 100k they replaced under warranty no questions asked and I never had another issue
Bryan M my Honda accord's transmission needs to be replaced, only has 64k miles, dealer says tough shit, u gotta pay 4500 for it. Never getting a car with less than 100k warranty again... Which doesn't leave many choices so hello hyundai. Nice to hear hyundai honors the warranty hassle free
brucedodmj damn that sucks... yeah they just verified I was the original owner of the vehicle and that was about it. I had all my services done at that dealership. Kia is worth a look as well. They are ranked like second or third now in reliability (Hyundai sister brand)
I traded in my 2012 Hyundai Accent, for a 2018 Elantra Base GT. My wife and I love the leather heated and ventilated seats, panoramic sun roof, GPS, and the dual climate control. The entertainment center is fast and easy to navigate. I was able to connect my 1 TB hard drive that powers off of the usb port, and now have all my music at my fingertips. And yes, the systems sounds pretty good too. I can remote start my car from my phone, adjust the temp., and locate my vehicle if it gets stolen. This car drives very nice on the highway, and the steering has greatly improved. The interior is mostly hard plastic, but I can live with it. So far so good, way better than the 2012 Accent I was driving. A lot of options, and technology for your money...
I bought a used 2015 elantra se yes it has the same old key fob lol but not really an issue to me i was driving a 94 Olds Cutlass with 220k on it original engine and trans 3100 v6 sold it for $800 still looked good for 24 year old car. I love my elantra! Its phantom black as well but it has power sun roof and plenty of sport for me also only have close to 35k on it and its only 4 years old not bad for a 4 year old car lol
If you get the value package that is really a know Klee bargain for what all you get for only 1k more the key fob is really nice , like the high end sonatas . Yea not reason go get the sel when you get push button start , day time led lights , proximity sensor lighted doors , leather wrapped steering wheel , sunroof all for only 1k more
I just bought a 2018 Elantra SEL in pearl white over beige cloth. It's a classy ride for the money. You get a beautiful car with a comfortable and roomy interior (i'm kinda short tho at 5'7"). It rides smoothly. It's very quiet at speed. Road noise is the loudest aspect of interior in this car and it's very tolerable. The front seats are very comfortable. For my bad back and bad hip, it's the perfect balance of plushness and support. Overly plush or hard seats both cause me pain. The features and customization of electronics seems very fancy to me. I can set how many times I want the signal to blink when I tap the turn signal lever, for example. I haven't even played with the Android Auto feature yet, but I'll be able to run Google maps on my phone thru it on the nice size screen on the dashboard. No need for a dedicated GPS that requires occasional updates. The build quality seems quite excellent. The doors are heavy and shut with a solid thud. Not what one likely expects with a Korean economy car. My experience is that even Japanese cars tend to have lightweight, hollow feeling and sounding doors, so this impressed me big time. This is way more car than I expected for the compact economy car class and I'm truly blown away. It's very apparent to me that Hyundai put A LOT of research and development time into this vehicle. It shows. If it seems like i'm gushing about the car, I am! The car only has about 400 miles on it, so my opinion may change over time. As of right now, I'm blown away.
Well-said, I could have written this, too! I just bought my new 2018 Elantra last week, black exterior, black and beige interior and it really is the most luxurious car I have ever owned! I also love the solid thud when I close the doors. I have my turn signal set to three blinks for merges. I appreciate the Blind Spot detection warning paired with the Rear Cross Traffic warning, I was backing out of a parking spot last week when it beeped because a white pick-up truck was heading right for me. It also lets me know when the outside temperature is below 40, because of possible slick roads. At first I lamented the lack of a CD player until I familiarized myself with Bluetooth Audio, way better than CDs, and the six speakers sound fantastic! I am averaging around 35 mpg between work and home, which is amazing. I am extremely happy with this car, I just wish the drive to work was longer! :P
All the previous comments commenting. “No LED Headlights?!?!” “No turn signals?!?!” “No start stop button?!?!” You all need to chill, if you want all of those features your gonna need the higher trim. So get off this SEL review and go search up a Elantra Sport because i can tell you for sure that there is better lights and keys for this model.
What did you get ? I'm buying a 2018 Elantra, they are cheaper and certified. Corolla will have slightly better resale value of course... The 2018 Elantra in my opinion looks better. Good luck.
@asasadd55 5 Agreed, I've been looking to buy a new car, the 2017-2018 Elantra looks WAY better than the 2019 Elantra. Even the 2019 Accent looks way better than the 2019 Elantra, wish they hadn't changed the style already.
To be honest with you I like the styling of the Elantra GT and I am definitely going to buy it I am not saying the Elantra Sedan is a bad looking car, it is handsome and clean but the Elantra GT looks a more stylish, and more sportier than the Sedan, when I went to Paris, I had the fully loaded version i30 as my rental car for 10 days and It was an awesome car, it was fun to drive and it felt a little more premium than the Sedan.
You have no idea what each of carmaker puts up as their primary objectives. Hyundai strives to achieve top of the class Interior Space, Quietness, Value for Money. Of course Elantra will not be as sharp as Honda civic and, omg the Ford Focus. Focus has the best handling, at the cost of interior space and NVH.
I have a 2014 Hyundai Accent. It's a good little reliable car - and it isn't ugly. But it is noisy as hell inside and the plastic, though nicely shaped, is still obviously cheap. I wish that designers would include less fancy electronics and spend the savings on better materials and styling.
Tim Ward people keep saying cheap plastic. I have yet to hear anyone say this car has nice expensive plastic. so what would you consider expensive interior plastic to look like??
OMG Steve, that's a great observation! Hmmm. I would think that expensive interior plastic would look like leather (or rich Corinthian Naugahyde) or maybe metal. Now, what does metal look like? Hard to explain, but you know it when you see it. At any rate, anything that looks like plastic looks like cheap plastic. That said, I do appreciate my little Accent, which still looks like new and runs like a charm. But how does a charm run?
Tim Ward so then probably it's more correct to say, The car has lots of unappealing plastic, rather than CHEAP, since their is no such thing as expensive, plastic. the word cheap insinuates the manufacturer could provide more expensive plastics . and of course if a person wants to spend twice as much, say 40.000 and up they can rid themselves of this minor complaint and all surfaces will be soft touch. after all, you get what you pay for, and it seems like people buying a relatively inexpensive car, and I have a 2017 Elantra, and I think the interior is nice enough, shouldn't expect the interior of a car costing twice as much... but they do.....😉
Hola Steve. How true! Elantras are nice cars, too... and the new ones are spiffy. And regarding plastic, well I suppose there could be expensive plastic. After all, it is all relative to one's money and how much one wants to spend. To a poor person, just about any plastic would be "expensive." As for me, I'd like fewer electronic gizmos, more original cool styling, and pre-computer luxury... and I'd like it for free if possible! And if the dash were soft touch, my head wouldn't hurt so much. But the world appears not to revolve around me, and my little Accent has proved to be a pleasant, reliable car.
Tim Ward sounds like you would like my 58 Cadillac. No fancy gizmos, though it does have power windows, and factory A.C.. No computer stuff, though the points and distributer cap need replacing from time to time. However, there is lots of metal, and CHROME all over the interior lol.and for some reason, it doesnt get the mpg the Elantra does😁. Iam happy with the Elantra, 26.000 MILES now, 0 problems, as should be with a new car. nice to hear your Accent is serving you well. Happy motoring.
Jason Davenport mine is a year and a half old, heater woks fine. my headlights seem fine too. if your on a back road , the high beams should be more than adequate. have the dealer check your heater.I am very happy with the car.
I own a 2018 elantra sel and heres something strange 1: push button start 2: no blind spot 3: the air conditioning is different: the buttons are to control the fan and the two circles to control the temperature 4:cup holder in the seat Its like my elantra is not a sel how do you find out? And NO CRUISE CONTROL
I like having a key. Very simple and it won't fail after 10 yrs like electronics do. I keep my cars till they cause problems. My 13 yr old 2004 Elantra is still working great along with the key. Although one elect mirror no longer adjusts. The 2018 SEL is looking good for $16K after $3K rebate.
Not a bad review, but WOW. You really do Hyundai a disservice. Every time in your review that you mention if anyone wants better performance or handling, you tell people to look elsewhere, virtually ignoring Hyundai's Elantra Sport. The Sport drives like a whole different car. With its 201HP, 195ft/lbs torque, fully independent rear suspension, sport tuned suspension, grippy tires on 18" rims, etc. 0-60mph in the low to mid 6 sec range (2 sec faster than the other Elantras), much better handling, way more fun to drive, etc... I cant believe you totally glossed over the Sport version of the Elantra, barely mentioning it only once, and barely in passing like an afterthought. Instead choosing to direct buyers away.
I do NOT like the new rims these newer cars have. So dull-looking. I wish the dashboard was more symmetric. I test drove one over the weekend. It was actually pretty nice.
I know of three people including myself that have a2018 Hyundai Elantra s e. We have all Had the? Same exact problems They go through Tires like no Tomorrow. Eva was expensive good year tires your Is only gonna get. Twenty thousand max. alternator will also quit at or around Twenty thousand miles. The car does not get anywhere near the e p a estimate. If you're getting more than twenty miles per gallon you're doing good. The battery Alternator and Tires Simply do not last. It is absolutely imperative that you get the oil change every three thousand miles Cover your ass keep receipts.
Too bad it is hyundai. My 2014 elantra engine broke down in 131k km. I need to spend 7k+ to get it fixed. I got all the oil change records(every 5-6k km). dont take the risk.
My 2016 Hyundai Sonata sports engine went out at 26,000 miles on it and even though it was to be covered under warranty they refused to because the car wouldn’t die or stall out on them like it would for me. I traded it in but two years later here I am gonna give them another try
@@IWeasel in Australia our interiors are all black/satin chrome with blue lighting and our keyfob is a flip out key fob (somewhat similar to the Toyota Camry keyfob design)
Also all our models have no optionals as they are only offered in fully equipped form minus sunroof(only standard on SR Turbo's (Sport in U.S.) but optional on all other models)
We bought one and took delivery on December 4th WE CAN NOT WAIT TO SELL IT...THE VENTILATION SYSTEM SUCKS....But MUCH WORSE! The HID headlights are DANGEROUS! They do not illuminate stop, speed and street name signs... They are supposed to automatically adjust BUT THEY ONLY WORK UNDER IDEAL CONDITIONS.. They disappear into the ground on suburban streets and on hilly country roads you have to slow down to 25mph or you will outrun your headlights.. Problem being ,,, You have to slow to 25mph in 55 mph zones.. Onto of that the cruise control tends to vary up to 6 mph from were you set it... IF YOU CAN OVERLOOK these issue ours is brand new... leas than 2000 miles on its and WE WILL SELL IT for $18.500 our loss is your win... THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AFTER DARK and if its cold outside ? The car takes 20 minutes to warm up... The ventilation fan MAKES MORE NOISE than move air..
Jason Davenport have you considered you may be going blind? there is such a thing as night blindness. There is nothing wrong with the headlights on these cars, or the heaters. or the ventilation. or the cruise control. My god man, next you're going to say all 4 wheels flew off, and the drivers seat shot you up and out the sunroof. I have 26000 miles on mine and it's been flawless. No car could have all the flaws you say yours does.
This is nonsense lol. Not being negative in anyway , but what in the heck are you taking about . Car takes 20 minuets to worm up ? Today’s cars with fuel injection technology don’t take that long . Headlights you can’t see unless 25 or under that makes zero sense at all .
I agree, I love the mazda look, and even owned a mazda6 but I will never buy that again. The first engine blew at 35k miles and the second engine blew at 30k miles! Maybe the newer ones are better but the early 2000s versions sucked

2L engine but still only 150 bhp , 180 or at-least 170 bhp should’ve been there ..
No side turn signals ? Wtf
The headlights SUCK BID TIME!
Who gives a shit lol
I have one but limited
Lil pump the type of nigha to die from a pillow fight
3:13 *Elantra
Yeah, It was a mistake
Who gives a shit about a key/key fob. Stick it in if it works
I'm seeing 45mpg highway out of my 2018 Elantra se
He makes the car sound boring 😂
Price. Toyotas and Hondas are too expensive. I prefer the 2010 style.
A wonderful car
One man's bland is another man's stoic or pragmatic. Expand your vocabulary, dude
Too bad it is hyundai. My 2014 elantra engine broke down in 131k km. I need to spend 7k+ to get it fixed. I got all the oil change records(every 5-6k km). dont take the risk.
Peter Yang hey there thanks for sharing. Wouldn't that be covered under the warranty? This model comes with a 10 year warranty so that's amazing
My 2016 Hyundai Sonata sports engine went out at 26,000 miles on it and even though it was to be covered under warranty they refused to because the car wouldn’t die or stall out on them like it would for me. I traded it in but two years later here I am gonna give them another try
yes, my cars need to be non triggering and non offensive -karen
Your U.S. key fobs are hideous as well as the interior colours you get
So what colors are you alls interiors for your cars? And that key fob isn’t new it’s very very old
@@IWeasel in Australia our interiors are all black/satin chrome with blue lighting and our keyfob is a flip out key fob (somewhat similar to the Toyota Camry keyfob design)
Also all our models have no optionals as they are only offered in fully equipped form minus sunroof(only standard on SR Turbo's (Sport in U.S.) but optional on all other models)
the only Hyundai I'd ever buy would definitely be the 1988 Hyundai Excel.
Chivos adventures Those were super reliable. You still see 95% of them still on the road today.
You sound like a little bitch
This is nonsense lol. Not being negative in anyway , but what in the heck are you taking about . Car takes 20 minuets to worm up ? Today’s cars with fuel injection technology don’t take that long . Headlights you can’t see unless 25 or under that makes zero sense at all .
This guy hit the crack pipe and thought his vehicle was falling apart. Lol.
Guys get Mazda 3 gs much better and futuristic than this lol
Power Ranger Mazda is direct injection. Get that ish out of here.
I agree, I love the mazda look, and even owned a mazda6 but I will never buy that again. The first engine blew at 35k miles and the second engine blew at 30k miles! Maybe the newer ones are better but the early 2000s versions sucked
first lol
