    Your slide videos just keep getting better and better. I don't know if the time of year but this one might be my favorite. The distant shots are insane and truly show how steep the climbs are - definitely worth the effort they must take to set up! Keep on hiking and stay safe.

      Oh, I totally feel you on this one. This is probably one of my favorite ones to put out on RUclips as well just because of how visually stunning the entire log came out. Sometimes they just come out amazing and sometimes they just come out good. It’s funny how it works. I thought Beckhorn slide was insane, but it wasn’t portrayed well on video, but my gosh, was this one amazing

      That’s way too much work and I don’t wanna scratch the camera lens lol. I have no problem going up and down. So this past Saturday, I just climbed all of the finger slides on the wrist. We covered eight different slides. Because of the ambitious day, I did not bother staging the camera at all. It would’ve been too much work. So I did it Vlog style and tried to get all the angles of my partners. I think it came out really great and it is definitely a hike this hike with us style. I think it’s gonna be one of the most epic slide climbing Vlogs ever but it is also a movie that you’re gonna have to sit down on a TV to watch. It’s an hour and 25 minutes long. I still have several slide Vlogs in the queue so it’s not gonna post for another month. Next Monday is the angel slides on right peak a week after that that will be Kilburn slide and a week after that will be all of the slides on dix in one hike.

    Brian,
    Great video as always. Quick question if I may…how time consuming are the distant shots of the three of you climbing to set up and take down? If you’re climbing up to set it then you are hardcore to the core. Awesome. 👏

    • @BrianHikesAllDay
      @BrianHikesAllDay  3 месяца назад +3

      In order to answer this question, I have to toot my own horn a little bit. I am an absolute mountain goat. I can run up and down mountains all day without wearing out usually. 😂😂 I’m in the mountains so often that I just have incredible stamina and speed. Seems to never really end as long as I keep feeding myself fuel and electrolytes. 😂😂 And I would say when editing the footage most of my shots I’m deleting a solid minute of footage before we are climbing in the shot. So if I set up the camera 10 times I’m probably wasting about three times that. Trying to find the right spot that I want to set up the camera jamming sticks into the ground to alligator clip my GoPro to hold it at the right angle that I want etc. Every shot might take a good 5 minutes of set up

    I've done Dix in Winter via Round Pond, but man, I'd love to see how much ice that crux grows! Wonder if it'd be worth hauling in ice gear for just a calf-burner?

    • @BrianHikesAllDay
      @BrianHikesAllDay  3 месяца назад

      I’ve never done winter slide climbing so I can’t say, but I can’t see how this wouldn’t be fun if you have the gear. There is a write up about that crux.. it is pretty much a dead end without climbing gear. I’m sure it would probably get some ice for the winter.

    • @BrianHikesAllDay
      @BrianHikesAllDay  3 месяца назад

      You know, I should probably start mentioning these things in my Vlogs. A lot of people are very curious about it. That watch for me has been a game changer and one of the best investments I’ve ever made. With the watch in combination with plotting on apps like CalTopo, I can get those plots on my watch and follow them as if their trails so navigation has become extremely easy. Also, I recognize your thumbnail and you had been trying to send me a friend request on Facebook and I was denying it because I didn’t know who you were or if you were spam. You can send me another one and I’ll accept it. I know you’re engaging with my content. I’ve been in a process of really managing social media lately on who follows and following and all those things, etc. I even went as far as to delete my Instagram account all with 50,000 followers. I’m pretty much starting over with a small account and trying to keep quality over quantity.

    Yeah, there it is: "Jim's Crack" (what you call the "crux") - the diagonal crack I followed right up the middle of that bowl in September, 2001, in ratty old hiking boots. The crack thinned out to nothing as I reached the lip of the bowl, and I prayed for a holding smidge of friction to get me up and over, because failure was not an option. That's why I'm talkin' to you today 🥣

    • @jeclose

      @@BrianHikesAllDay It was totally impulsive on my part to tackle that crack in the bowl and follow it all the way up and out. There was a point of no return, but if you're going to do it - and make it - you don't let your mind go there. I wonder if anyone else has done that exact line - who knows?
