He said it's legal to have em in whatever color you want BUT you can only ride w them on if they are white or amber ONLY. This was in south Texas. So on his advice we started selling lighting kits that could change colors so customers could ride with amber or white lights n then change them to a different color when they got to where they were going n wanted to show off their bike.

It looks discreet and is not super bright, but I hope the movement is a bit more visible in mirrors, especially on dark early morning freeway commutes. It’s technically not legal here in Alberta, but I’ve passed several cops even at night with no issue. It’s not bright enough to be distracting, and being white it doesn’t impersonate ant emergency vehicle. After all, bicycles are allowed to use them...

    There are plenty of illegal plate kits, but there are just as many legal ones, and it's not hard to do it properly. Check to make sure before buying:
    -It has lighting for the plate
    -There are mounting points for turn signals (if your bike mounts its signals on the tail)
    -It has at least a rear red reflector
    Lights are the same thing, it's not hard to do it properly. _Always_ avoid blue, and avoid red unless you're doing a supplementary tail/brake light

      Thank you sir. Is a flush license plate illegal, if it can be seen slightly?

    • @SigmaSheepdog
      @SigmaSheepdog 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@sir.636 It's going to depend on the laws of your state. A kinda-storta rule of thumb would be to park your bike, walk back around 20-30 feet and see how visible the numbers/letters are. If you can clearly see the plate characters, you most likely be good to go. If your state has the small registration stickers on the plate, see if you can make out the date. Also, some states require license plate illumination, so, if you are planning on riding at night, make sure that there is a light for the plate. The bottom line is, If it is reasonably visible, chances are, you won't have a problem. But, keep in mind, there are officers out there that will stop you for stupid things like a plate that isn't displayed in accordance with the law. I used to stop people that had plates tucked way up and screwed to the inner fender, which made the plate barely visible. But, just about everything else, I didn't care.

Unless your state has added specific laws regarding fins/spikes etc. And especially if you're ticketed for a go pro. Might be worth fighting the ticket. I've seen some newer license plate kits that are spring loaded and set to that when airflow gets above a certain point it allows the plate to push back and up, usually around 70-80+ mph depending on the bike. Considering messing with "airflow" in that area of the bike will not slow you down at all , there really is no need to tuck it up anyways.

      @jeladsnikpoh1289 2 года назад +1

      Although I don't condone hiding the plate, I study engineering and aerodynamics and disagree with your airflow statement. It creates substantial drag. Unfortunately motorcycles in general are have a terrible coefficient of drag (A Hayabusa- long time the most aero bike, now beat by CBR1000RRR was similar to a full size pickup in drag coefficient). So alot more than flipping the plate would be needed to make it somewhat efficient, but a 'more legal' fender eliminator kit is a start. I ride in a tuck even at legal highway speeds, and it's pretty easy to beat the manufacture's MPG rating, but not when I'm sitting up.

  • @kacowboy

    1. Some bikes have a TourPak/Trunk that blocks the plate from the factory. 2. Some bikes were built before mirrors were mandatory by the DOT. 3. The fact is that the helmet protuberances one is a bit of a grey area. In most US states, this rule is included in the construction and use regulations, not user regs or road use. This is dealt with in a video by the "Audit the Auditor" channel on YT. As for the rest of the world (ie; Europe); I've never heard of anyone being pulled over for having a GoPro or whatever on a bike, in some countries (Russia and places like the Philippines etc.) video recording is highly recommended to avoid insurance scammers.

    It was so easy to adapt to the process of monitoring what was coming up behind me to where it was second nature. Having it in a rear view helmet camera with night vision would be a game changer.

Most dumb reason to get an after market exhaust ever invented. Drivers are not hearing you because they drive in a closed off vehicle with good sound-insulation. Several of your mods I understand fully. One I'm not sure that I agree with whatsoever would be Is one specific helmet Mod.... I've been writing with a Troy Lee design 3rd 3rd light if you will that mounts to the back of your helmet.. I've had that since clear back in the 2000 tand I honestly think that all helmets should have an integrated light in them.. It makes a hell of a difference at night when somebody can see your head lighting up especially when you're on a smaller bike. And yes of course I run extra reflective material on my helmet as well.

    Mirrors in the UK aren't a legal requirement. Neither are indicators. If you have them installed, they have to work. So remove them and any switches and you're good to go. Just learn hand signals. Exhaust mods are fine too if the sound isn't too obnoxious. I removed the baffles off mine and nothing said.

    Exhaust regs are really strict here in california, however, you don't need to ever smog your bike. So while there are a ton of rules, they literally never check. So unless you're going nuts with an insane-o loud system that's setting off alarms as you peel off, you're golden.
    Edit: Underglow is also totally legal here in liberalland. Just as long as it's not blue or red.

Not only will the next year's model have 2--10hp more out of maybe the exact same engine it will also have proven to be reliable... Tinkering with the ignition etc could decrease reliability and be too much for the components.
