The new record is slowly becoming my favorite. It gets better with every listen. Yellow and Green is on my list of albums I need on a deserted island. The new record may end up taking it's place. It's so good.
Aside from being a super talented artist and all around bad ass, JDB is super intelligent, eloquent, humble, and self-aware. Really enjoyed hearing John talk, and the interviewer was excellent as well. It’s obvious the interviewer (who I’m new to) is also super knowledgeable and knows what to ask and how to let his subject speak. Excellent job all around!
Here's my favorite thing about John, and by extension: Baroness. He's genuine. You know every time you hear something from him and the band, it's coming from the heart, and you can feel that in the music. A truly beautiful band. Gold & Grey is possibly the most important record in my life, saw me through both the happiest, and one the hardest points in my life, and thankfully had the record to see me through it all. And Stone, couldn't be more perfect for where I am now. Truly thankful for John's work.
Phew. Never knew they had it so rough in the early years (and STILL do occasionally). That amount of dedication and toughness is impressive. As for getting electrocuted while playing: You can see it happen at about 4 minutes on another video on this channel. (Baroness - The Birthing LIVE on Metal Injection). You're a wildman, Baizley.
I actually didn't care for Gold and Grey, I felt it just lacked something I couldn't really define. However Stone more than makes up for it, and I think this might be my favorite record from them. I'll have to go back and listen to Purple, as that's the album to beat for me, even though I came in on Yellow and Green, Purple was the triumphant return after the bus crash, and it feels like it to. But now Stone feels like what john mentioned, a new stability in the band and a new foundation for what they are. If future Baroness records build off of this, then I think they're gonna be producing some solid music for more years to come, cause this record is nearly perfect! Baroness has absolutely leveled up with Seb, Nick, and Gina. John found really talented people and he better hold onto them for dear life, cause this is the best version of the band in it's history if you ask me!
Didn’t think I cared for Stone on first listen. At the end of that week I was out in the woods in a cabin celebrating a friend’s birthday and realized Last Word was stuck in my head. Next thing, me and my friends are drinking beers and listening to the album and discussing it. Grew on us unexpectedly and quickly. Magnolia is really living in my head now. Gold and Grey was kind of the same for me, though. Didn’t really land on first listen, but soon became one of my favorites.
Seb was in Trans Am?!? I always loved the drums in that band. I'm going to have to go back and dig in to some of my older records again. For those of you who don't know, go listen to Future World, and The Dark Gift on headphones, really loud.

So Good! Can’t wait to see the new songs live in November!
Dude I completely forgot he did one of Skeletonwitch's album covers...His art and music are incredible.
Not just one lmao

Awesome interview! Could listen to John talk for hours. Can't wait for Stone!
Great interview, John is a treasure, so creative and talented, brainy and perceptive and aware. It all goes into his art and music ❤

Dude this interview rocks! I love Baroness so much.
Man I love this band so refreshing
Learned a lot from this interview.
Admittedly I don't listen to Baroness very much anymore, but I've always appreciated John as a musician and artist. He's a thoughtful dude.

He looks VERY medicated to me in this.
