I water mine everyday, is that too much for portulacaria? I need to thicken my truck alot, its too thin i feel :D
So, I bought a Portulacaria Afra from the nursery. It was a like an elephant bush would be out in the wild. Thin trunks like sticks. I took them apart and put them in bonsai training pots. I use river rock as the top and bottom layer to promote drainage and because the succulent mix I uses (peat moss, sand, perlite) isn't strong/compact enough to keep them standing straight. So, with all that said, my question is... will the rock on the top layer prevent the trunk from getting thicker? I'd hate to waste a year or more hoping the trunk gets thick but not able to cause im inhibiting it. Thanks in advance for anyone that is able to help out.
