Love the redemption for Cody. This episode is great cause it resembles a clone wars mission (clones fighting droids), but at the end Cody realizes that they aren't the good guys anymore when that separatist lady gets executed- and so he leaves the empire right after that. What happened to the clones is really tragic

  • @skits_3d824

5:46. That wall behind them is a memorial to the fallen clones btw
And the fact that Cody questions the Empire twice in front of Crosshair. Super emotional and heartbreaking cause you know he's thinking about Obiwan.
Here's the thing clones that defect either by design or they go awol to Kaminoans those clones were a bad batch. So maybe when reading the title and when we get episodes like these maybe we are supposed to think of them as a clone going bad batch.

I’ve said this on other reactions but I’m honestly just so impressed by the creators’ ability to give so much emotion and depth to the pauses between words, glances between characters, and every other unspoken thing. Paired with Kevin Kiner’s hauntingly expressive score, we are able to really feel the weight of each character’s inner demons/conflict. So many other shows would rush through “difficult” subject matter, jump from fight scene to fight scene, or over-explain everything, but with The Bad Batch, I’m continuously impressed by the level of restraint and maturity Filoni’s team displays in its writing/animation. Well done ❤

Cody probably regrets shooting down Obi-Wan. He was basically Obi-Wan's Rex. You even see that Cody tries to be the negotiator similar to Kenobi. Rex's personally is similar to Anakin, while Cody is similar to Kenobi. Cody is more strict with rules like Kenobi. While it's easy for Rex to disobey orders.

AWOL is absent without leave so Cody just up and left. So that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s dead. I suspect he shows up later in the season (hopefully meeting up with Rex again) as I keep hearing rumors that this all leads to a clone rebellion/revolt/revolution.

This was, I think, the best episode so far between both seasons. It's heartbreaking yet fascinating to see how the Empire became the oppressive entity it was. One detail that I really liked was watching Cody demonstrate some negotiating skills. It makes sense he would have attempted that, I think, considering his Jedi general, Obi-Wan, was known as the negotiator. I loved seeing the conflict in Cody as well and I also don't believe he's dead; they wouldn't kill a major clone like Cody offscreen. Also, the music in this episode was fire. @ItsAPrimate notice how in this episode that when there was battle droids they chose to send only clones to take out the insurance and when it was over they sent storm troopers.
Realistically the storm troopers aren't trained to fight against forces like the separatist battle droids. They sent the clones in to take care of the droids because that was what they were created to do.
It's one of the reasons why the empire is phasing out the clone troopers they don't need an army of high-quality soldiers because the CIS is gone and the jedi order is gone. They need an army of people who are blindly loyal to the empire, that's where the storm troopers come in they were citizens who had to scrape by to survive during the clone wars, an the empire offered them a purpose and jobs to provide for themselves and their families. The even though the clones are the superior soldiers when it comes to combat the storm troopers are more loyal and easier to maintain.

I don’t think they’d kill someone as important as Cody offscreen

They totally killed Cody and or imprisoned him similar to Gregor for treason. :((

I really think Cody just escaped. I hope when we see Cody next, he will be with Rex.
Cody was racked with gilt. When Crosshair says the clones questioning the orders and Cross says they are as guilty as the Jedi, Cody's face flickers with pain. And when Cody says "good soldiers follow orders", he says it so casual, like it doesn't mean the same as when Cross, Tup and Wrecker (when the chip was activated) said those words, like it was a program in their heads. His conversation with Cody at the end is him saying, he is having trouble living with his choices.

It seems to me that though the inhibitor chip caused cody to betray Obi-wan, it didn't minimize the impact Obi-wan left on Cody while he served under him. Obi-wan often sought diplomatic, peaceful solutions, so it's interesting that the very thing that awoke Cody to how wrong all of this was, was the disregard for his peaceful, diplomatic solution by the Governor. Obi-wan's tactics really rubbed off on Cody, and remained even after Cody's loyalty to Obi-wan was taken away.

Cody LEFT, he abandoned the empire. He wasn't killed. My guess is he is going to try to find Rex. I do wonder though, with Crosshair, if he was given two orders by two different parties which what would he do? If he wants to be a soldier and fight, he can be with bad batch and go on missions and fight the empire lol. If the empire ordered him to kill himself would he? Who knows.

That’s the thing though, bad batch ain’t really fighting the empire they’re just doing missions for Sid for money and such. Empire might be affected by it but that’s not their goal

@@ItsAPrimatee Yet they keep coming in contact with the Empire. Even so, he could still be a soldier on the missions Sid gives them. He would still be following Sid's orders. Hell, Crosshair could become a Bounty Hunter and follow orders from the contracts.

I don't think they killed Cody. If they had I don't think they'd keep it a secret. They would want to make an example pf Cody to all the other troopers. I like Cody having a doubts and realizing he's on the wrong side. Crosshair I don't think really cares.

You’re mentioned Star Wars Resistance a few times recently and while it definitely has a lighter more comedic vibe than the rest of Star Wars animation, there’s actually some good shit in Season 2.
It feels like Early Rebels mostly, more kid-friendly, but as with every Dave Filoni joint it has some bangers later on.
The biggest turn off is the protagonist being a messy goof in literally in every area of his life apart from flying. In the cockpit he’s insane, an ace born for it, outside of it tho he’s a sheltered rich kid who fucks up constantly. He’s written to be an annoying f**k-up.
But yeah, there’s some crazy space combat eps in Season 2, really great side-characters and some juicy lore connections that makes the Sequels sit a little better.
(The show also has my all-time favourite Ex-Imperial and a GREAT new Bounty Hunter.)
