Very nice collection 👍🏻
Thanks Sahan Modelbuilding! ✨
I hear you.
When I was a child I had an obsession with model kits and built them in the hundreds.
I too imagined myself shrinking to a small size and going inside my tanks etc.
After almost 40 years I made a return and started building again.
But I no longer dream of shrinking , apparently it was an age thing😀
Hi Christos, thanks for sharing, great to know that there are others who had the same modeling daydreams. I don't think of shrinking down anymore either. 🤩
I don't know if you intended this video to take us viewers back to our first models but it sure did it for me.
Thanks.
Hi Mark, that's great to hear! Part of my goal was that those who watched would relive some of their own memories 😊
Thanks for sharing Tom , my father was a Navy man and served on HMS Ark Royal (WW 11), and so had interest and knowlege of ships and planes , so when I was about 6 he built planes for me until I got to 9 and built my Airfix Gladiator . Thats how it all started , now 68 I am still building and damn glad I have a great hobby to keep me distracted , as we have just gone into lockdown for the 3rd time !! Wales UK .
Remember the horrible figures that came with the MPC snowspeeder kit? Incidentally, if you want a real treat, build the Badai snowspeeder. It's a blast.
Hi Stephen, I remember the snowspeeder crew figures to be a bit on the chubby side! 🍰
The Arizona Memorial is in my backyard. I live on Ford Island in Navy Housing. I jog past it 3-5 times per week, and it's still humbling every time.
Hi Brian, that's amazing! I've been to Ford Island a few times, but I never realized they had housing there. I usually went there to the see the U.S.S. Utah memorial on the other side from the U.S.S. Arizona. I bet you also pass the U.S.S. Arizona wreckage they placed there when they removed it to make room for the memorial structure over the remaining hull.
Beautiful work. I recently retired and just got back into building again after some 55 years or so, my have things changed. Thanks for sharing!
Hi good2us, the options, extras, aftermarket items, paints, tools, etc., have revolutionized the model builder's experience since our early days for sure! 😎
thanks Max ... some great old stuff there -- Rommels Rod, the Beer Wagon, the Trantula, the 1/32 Monogram tanks (lots of versions using that Panzer Mk IV chassis) ... i still have a few that i built in the late 60s'.
Hi markharnitchek9205, I'm glad this video brought back some great memories! 🤩
Great to see your builds again as well as your influences. Quite a few favourites there.
Hi Stephen, Thanks! 😊
Nome of the models i made as a kid in the 70s made it to now. However i remember the stukas, gazelles, tomcats. One Christmas i went round the house trying to discover what i was getting, and it was a 1/48 f4, i recall it took me ages to paint it with a can of humbrol grey and a small brush! It did however ruin christmas as i knew what i got, never went looking again. Nice trip down memory lane, thanks
Hi Aliktren, my sister and I snooped around one Christmas season too. We learned of everything we were to receive and they were all amazing gifts. It totally spoiled the Holiday when we opened the presents as there was no anticipation or surprise. I don't even like handing out gifts to others only to have them opened right in front of me days ahead of Christmas Eve/Day.
THANK YOU , for the memories !!!! Outstanding video ! Take care, Tony
Glad you enjoyed it Tony!
I remember my first kit being a Revell P-40 Flying Tiger i built with my dad. Soon after my first model ship i built was the Revell Arizona kit I built on my own.
Hi 04swimbeav, sounds like you started out much like I did! 😃 Have fun!
@@MaxAfterburner thank you! I love your channel, especially your A-6, F-14, and F/A-18 Super Hornet builds. I followed your marble technique on my 1/72 Super Hornet and it looks beautiful! Markings are VFA-102 Diamond Backs.
Playing with your models in the tub, man that takes me back. I wonder as a child how many times the Nautilus sank the Graf Spee.
Hi Dale, but of course, that very important but never historically documented battle! 😆
I find it hard to believe you had builds that received dislikes... I mean, every build you presented was superb to say the least, you even managed to turn not-so-stellar kits into fine models
much thanks for sharing your history in the hobby, makes me look back on mine as well, although fortunately, I was lucky enough to not stop for long, as more than two decades since I was introduced, I’m still building... although I sure wish I can turn out more models than the rate I have right now, especially with my stash that’s growing by the truckload...
Hi Hans, thanks! Good luck with trying to get through your workload 😉
much thanks! more builds please! I hope you do Kitty Hawk’s 1/32 OV-10 Bronco, a plane that has been a part of my childhood, as my dad flew it as one of the first pilots from the Philippine Air Force when they received the type (ex-USAF frames) during 1992
I love how your models turn out id love to do work like yours!!
Hi St0l3n_V1rg1n1ty, thanks very kindly 🥳
Great collection. Folks are always gonna hate, but in my opinion, your work is amazing. I have no where near the skills you do, but your videos got me back into model building. I really enjoy the specification info, along with the history you provide during your builds. Keep up the great work Max.
Hi Eric, thanks very much, so very glad to know you're enjoying them! It's also nice to hear you're back into the hobby 😃
Wow, wonderful collection! Wish you can update this collection video regularly. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Aidesbn Lee, it would be interesting to do an updated version, but I hate to carry away models from their shelves and such as I always manage to break something off when I move them.
@@MaxAfterburner Yeah, indeed it is quite dangerous to move them out.
just what i wanted to see. thanks Max
A little off the beaten path for the channel, so I'm hopeful viewers will see something different here that they might like.
Remind me of my first model
Great video! Brought back some memories! Thank you
Hi Julio, happy to hear! 😄
Big inspiration.
Thanks much, David! 😊
I saw your videos for several of those models. You are inspiring. My latest and most awesome (so far) is the Tamiya 1/48 F-15.
Hi, I'm glad you liked the videos and congratulations on a satisfying F-15! 😃
Awesome job! I found your channel as I was looking for background noise while working on models and I then I couldn't stop watching your videos! (B52 was my favorite of your's!)
P.S. thanks for serving our country!
Hi Logan Sabo, thanks for your comments and I'm glad you enjoy the videos! 😊
@@MaxAfterburner No problem!
Its been an honor to follow you through your model building experiences. Hope to see more builds come from you soon!
Hi Carlos, it's always great to hear from you and thanks for the very kind and supportive comments! 😄
Fantastic video Max. Keep up the amazing work. I've learnt a lot from your videos. Looking forward to the next build
Thanks very much kommasar! New video to be released later today if no YT snags come up.
Max_Afterburner looking forward to it
I remember the Revell model club! I always loved getting those boxes in the mail.
It was a great way to be introduced to many different subjects ✨
Beautiful work sir!
Roger BIGBOSS SIX, thanks much!
Nice video, Max :) Made me remember when I first did modelling. I stopped about 10 years ago, and then started up again only in the past four. I take a lot more care now than I used to, hah.
Hi, I'm glad it brought back some memories of your early model building 😃
@@MaxAfterburner ^-^
Thanks for sharing your modelling journey.....I suspect that we all started during our childhood and returning to models after long hiatus is a reclamation of a life full of ease, care-free enjoyment and simplicity. By the time I reached 18 and began my adult journey I had built close to 200 models of all descriptions.....carefully put away in a chest which unfortunately my nephews found and decimated....none survived. I returned to the hobby in my late forties and love it!!
Hi Robbo, it sounds like your nephews also delivered my package of models 😃. So glad to hear you're having fun again!
Great vid!
Hi Lance T., thanks and it's great to hear from you 😃
Yay!
This is a great video, Max! Your F-22 build video is what got me into this hobby a little over a year ago and now building models is one of my favorite things to do. It’s a great way to relax and unwind. I hope to see you continue posting videos for a long time to come, they’re always very informative and I learn new things from each one I watch.
Hi Isaac, thanks very much and I'm so glad you're having fun with your model projects! 😊
Thanks for sharing and giving us a look at your modelling "career". I suspect it mirrors a lot of your subscribers' own.
Hi VooDoo Nights, I'm glad you enjoyed it and I agree that model builders and supporters have much in common in our memories! Great to hear from you! 😎
Great video! brought back a lot of memories with my dad who started me in this life long passion, I wish he was still here to see how far I've taken the hobby to.
Hi Kenneth, I'm glad it inspired you to have great remembrances of your dad. I'm sure he would be very proud. 🙂
Thanks for sharing the remants of your journey. I love your work. In my early teens I built many planes and armor kits. I lost all of them when I discovered girls and cars and pubs and sports in my late teens and twenties. I'm 65 now and more keen than ever. Sadly I fear I have many more unbuilt kits than fit into my remaining lifetime. Fortunately, as the result of a cunning indoctrination on my part, I have a son who became as hooked as I am although, at present, it's limited to Gundam. I live in hope he will come to love cars, bikes, armor, aircraft, Star Wars, ships and trains. Otherwise I will come back and haunt him until he does.
Hi Peter, that's terrific that you've shared modeling with your son! There are so many areas of interest that I think anyone who takes a look at the hobby can find something that they enjoy within it. Thanks for sharing your story and for watching!
Thank you for sharing your history of model making with us. i have also done a lot of model projects and i keep photo records and excel database showing information of every model build.
Hi Hyder, wow, that's dedication. I don't think I could go that far with documentation 😉
Thank you!
Hi Nikolay, thanks for commenting! I wasn't sure if this video would seem strange, but everyone has been very positive about it 🙂
Thanks for the nostalgia trip! Some great kits and great memories on display. I'm REALLY glad you still have most of your Britain's ACW figures from that Chicago Christmas back when you were eight.
Hi Lawrence, glad you enjoyed it! Some of my soldiers didn't make it. A few are still MIA from battles in Lincoln Park and on the beaches of Lake Michigan!
@@MaxAfterburner Good thing your troops are Yankees. If they were Johnny Rebs, Lincoln Park and the lakefront cold would have resulted in more "casualties!"
Thanks for taking us along for the journey of your model building- I enjoyed it.
Hi Rob W, thanks for taking the mini journey with me! 😊
*Nice collection of vintage and modern kits, congratulations! 👏👏👏👏*
Hi Forever Plastic kits, thanks for the kind comments! 🥳
Those star wars comics are pretty valuable if i think they are whatt they are
Hi Julian, the Star Wars comics may still have some value, but I think the prequels and Disney's mismanagement of the franchise have decreased the value of anything Star Wars these days. 🤨
Awesome collection. Such a variety! Keep up the awesome videos!
Thanks TheSalad Bowl ! 😊
Nice video! And a great inside view of your childhood collection.
Hi The Modelorian, glad you enjoyed it! It's somewhat off the beaten path for the channel, but seemingly well received 😇
Thanks for sharing. If I may ask, what's the next subject we can expect to see? :D
Hi TheRealHawkeye, Project #23 is a semi closely guarded secret 😉. I just completed it on Friday (Aug 14th) and I am in the painfully long process of editing the video for the channel. Maybe I can upload in about a week. I hope you'll enjoy it then.
Wow this vid escalated fast! Modelling memories become snuff movies so easily....
Only a moment to lose what took so long to build 😌
what will the next build video be. what ever it is, its going to be good
Hi the silent farmer, I hope viewers will enjoy it once it's completed. It is an unusual choice to be sure and it's been kicking my butt so much so that I procrastinated today and didn't touch it. 😏
@@MaxAfterburner i know the feeling. just finished a spitfire mk Vb in 1/48 and it battled me the whole way through the build.
Can you build F35 or C 130 in next project?
I really want to watch.
Hi YeeYee Cho, possibly, but I'm going to see how things go for the channel after the release of the Model Project #23 video.
What happened to your video of washing your models in the sink?
Hi Stinger, it must be someone else's video. I never had one like that.
@@MaxAfterburner It must have gone down the drain!
Could u build a f111
Does this one appeal to you? www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/Model_Aircraft/australian-f-111c-pig/HBB00080349/product.php?s=0&t=0&era=0,8&u=2
And if so, with or without the commemorative tail flash?
ofc the tomcat is the most viewed
Hi That One Guy, it seems to be a guaranteed success for anyone! 😊
unfortunately i INDIA we dont have any of these brands (italeria.revell/academy) nothing .
🙁
