I feel like when Pauline said “we live in a walled garden” it was a reference of how Nintendo really likes to live in their own little bubble in how they do things
Mario odyssey is nothing like sonic adventure? And if your going to say it’s because this has a song in it then every single mainline sonic game after the adventure series would like to talk to you (except lost world and mania)
@@gsm4919 There’s an iconic city with normal human people, new and old characters return/are introduced, the main villain gets humbled and is almost good near the end, and the final level is literally in space. This *is* Sonic Adventure 3.
Bowser doesn’t turn good near the end mario captures him and the first adventure game wasn’t set in space and Mario galaxy and galaxy 2 was in space but there not adventure 3. Sonic adventure doesn’t have old characters returning they only bring new ones in which Mario odyssey doesn’t do unless you count cappy but cappy is probably just another gimmick that’s not gonna stay like it he pink luma. Also sonic games have had humans before in city’s it’s nothing new to the adventure series. 06 and unleashed have a city/citys with humans. Sonic 06 is the he actual sonic adventure 3!it’s just we don’t like tho think it is and unleashed is literally called sonic world adventure in japan
My theory of what i think the lyrics mean: “So what if we lived in a walled garden?” I think this refers to the Secret Garden in Wooded “Trippin’ through two dimensions” Reference to the old 2D Mario games “I’ll throw my *hat* in the ring” Cappy.. “A miracle in 3 Dimensions” This game is in 3D “Follow the brick path straight to my heart,” If this is Pauline, then this is figurative to the path Mario took to get to Metro. If this is Peach, I think this means the path to Peach’s Castle in the Mushroom Kingdom. Or maybe it’s the same as the explanation for Pauline. “And we’ll grab the flag together, the fireworks are gonna start.” When you beat a level in the original Super Mario Bros., you grab the flag, and some fireworks go off. Pretty obvious “Shake off the chains, you’re runnin’ free, you’ll be amazed at all there is to see.” I think this refers to the first moon in Cascade. You throw the Chain Chomp *which is on a chain* and then run to the moon. For the other line, it refers to how Mario is barely on the 2nd Kingdom, and there’s still a ton more to explore. “And maybe we don’t know where we’re going, but we’re gonna get there somehow!” The adventure that Mario and Cappy took. We have no idea where Bowser’s going, but wherever he is, we’re gonna get him. “Climb up the vine, and land in the clouds,” I think this refers to going to Wooded Kingdom and then crashing in Cloud Kingdom. “Cross the sea, we’re still you and me,” After Cloud Kingdom and Lost Kingdom, Mario and Cappy literally cross the sea to Metro Kingdom.” “I’ll follow you.” Cappy follows Mario... on his head “You’ve got me up on the moon, and that’s no jest.” ....this is obvious, isn’t it? “So let’s shoot for the stars, and make this love really shine.” I think this refers to Mario quite literally shooting for the stars, just to save Peach. Mario went through several kingdoms, got his hat torn up, almost died 10 times, *WENT TO THE MOON,* and killed several bunnies AND THREE ROBOTS just to save Peach. This is what I call “true love”
i dont think it is a song from peach or any other character. It is an song for the player, the adventures you had with him over the years. the lyrics freference older gamesand odyssey
The “climb up the vine and land in the clouds” is a reference to all Mario games where you climb a vine to get to a bonus cloud area and maybe the walled garden is a reference to gusty garden (galaxy, and a fan favourite for the music) where you find lots of walls. Other than that pretty good explanation for the first time we see love as an actual sentiment in a Mario game, this may be directed to the player or to Mario, but still remains pretty out of place (in a good way) for a Mario game
This make me wanna cry because the lyrics make me think of how many years passed since I’ve played Mario as a little girl , this song is fire and make so many references !!

The adventure that Mario and Cappy took. We have no idea where Bowser’s going, but wherever he is, we’re gonna get him.
“Climb up the vine, and land in the clouds,”
I think this refers to going to Wooded Kingdom and then crashing in Cloud Kingdom.
“Cross the sea, we’re still you and me,”
After Cloud Kingdom and Lost Kingdom, Mario and Cappy literally cross the sea to Metro Kingdom.”
“I’ll follow you.” Cappy follows Mario... on his head
“You’ve got me up on the moon, and that’s no jest.”
....this is obvious, isn’t it?
“So let’s shoot for the stars, and make this love really shine.”
