What I like about this deck, that this requires much more game knowledge to function properly than any other non-interactive decks, because it can boardlock itself, it can mill itself, and it can fatigue itself on low health levels if the player isn't skillfull enough.
Also mass bounces and both Scabbs require remebering the order of cards you play and the remaining discounts.
And the best part about this archetype, it is powerful, but has very low chances to become broken, because this deck is very tightly packed with a very specific cards, so it would need some direct upgrades to the existing cards to become broken and there are already some cards that are good, but just can't fit, like daring escape for self board cleaning/octopackage or combo guy, who draws 2 minions.
I can see the last card as a replacement for the prize vendor for fixing coldlight/loatheb draws, but I'm not sure about it

    About that (first) Mage match:
I find it hilarious that these days there are hyper efficient infinite damage burn decks that can kill you on turn 5 from hand, that are completely destroyed by a card from Naxxramas.
Loatheb was released in 2014, think about that for a minute.

Always preferred Mill Druid over Mill Rogue but my favourite Mill deck would be the Warlock Treachery deck with the 5 manna 8/8 mech. Hope you've not been seeing much big priest on ladder. The archetype definitely existed before Scabbs was printed this year, so it's certainly possible. The game has only grown increasingly faster though so just like anything else by playing an outdated version of the archetype you're just going to have a more difficult time actually playing cards before you explode.
If you already have the other cards there's no reason not to try it out though, other than the emotional trauma you subject yourself to by logging into hearthstone. There are a lot of good cards to sub in like Daring Escape, Elven Minstrel, the deathknight or even just some more cheap removal. You won't be able to do great things as consistently but you'll still occasionally be able to do things that more or less resemble what Dane did.

This is probably something that everyone knows but I’m just gonna say it anyway: the issue that people have with mill rogue is that whoever is playing the deck might as well just be playing solitaire with a deck of playing cards as far as the other player is concerned (at least that’s how I feel). Like yeah they’re usually trying to figure out how to stay alive versus some decks but usually it’s really just them doing their game plan with no real counter play from the opponent. Same with most mage decks (as a more common/popular example of “solitaire decks”) since they just put up an ice block and then pull off some combo that involves sorcerer’s apprentice (which I seriously think needs to be nerfed to where the spells can’t be reduced below 0 mana or something similar) to just OTK the opponent. There’s a bit more counter play (loatheb, secret hate, etc) but it’s not always the best answer. I guess I’m just trying to say that I hate decks with no real counter play and the game just becomes one sided

The reason Mill Rogue is so unfun to face is because they're playing a different game entirely. Sure, they're using the same board and rule set, but the win condition and strategy seem to break the agreement both players are supposed to make when you start a game.

Mill rogue is infinitely more fun and honorable than quest hunter or pirate warrior, neither of which interact with 90% of the decks they face

I like mill rogue. It just feels really bad if you're playing a control deck. It punishes you extremely hard and right now heavy control decks are struggling already... so it's even worse.

    • @TheSquareOnes
      @TheSquareOnes 2 года назад +1

This is true, but the reality is that almost every competitive deck for the past couple years has violated this agreement if you assume that the game is meant to be "both players draw cards and play them onto the board, interact with one another and gradually whittle down their opponent's health over many turns."
Aggro and high-roll decks kill their opponent before they can play any cards, combo decks kill their opponent from full health (sometimes 2-3 times full health and through ice block, so literally no counterplay outside armor druid memes), mill decks remove the cards from the card game and the closest thing to midrange decks that still exist rely on mechanics like freeze, cost increases and infinite value generation to keep their opponent from interacting with them or make it otherwise meaningless to do even try. If by some miracle you manage to find any other kind of matchup except it to still be decided by RNG at some point, since 99% of decks involve rolling dice with potentially massive consequences.
Hearthstone becoming solitaire isn't just a meme and it isn't only an issue with one or two decks, it's actually a pretty accurate description of the state of the game. Being mad at mill rogue in 2022 is just silly unless you just woke up from a 3-5 year coma. Be mad at the designers that seem to have completely lost focus on making anything even remotely resembling what hearthstone used to be.

Also, I think that Skulking Geist with Valeera should be a thing as well in lower dia caus of so many hunters.

Anti-fun is how I feel about any togwaggle deck. Win or lose it’s just not fun to play against. I want to use the deck I built. That’s why I built it. If I can’t use my deck in a game of hearthstone then I’m just conceding or quitting because that’s why I wanted to play in the first place.
I don’t mind losing. Losing can still be fun. But cards like togwaggle are just designed to ruin the fun of the other person.

the meta is killing your opponent before they play their cards. Im able to play more cards from my deck against togwaggle than pirate warrior or combo mages since togwaggle doesn't kill you on turn 4

I'd rather be rejected instantly than lead on for another 20 turns, its the same reason mill rogue is hated, not saying they can't be fun but the moment they become the fixation of the netdeck NPCs they are far worse than a quick death.
