I wonder if you couldn't minimise the leakage from the pizza waffle by assembling it outside the waffle maker, trimming and sealing the edges and only then placing it in.
I was thinking the same thing, trying to seal it before placing on waffle iron.
You are correct, because the dough was hanging over the edge unsealed, as it cooked and raised it just pushed the filling out.

Hot dogs should never go in a blender. You are basically blending already blended meat. Its wrong! A more sensible pancake could be made out of similar batter to a corndog with hot dog pieces inside but this is just a crime.
I remember my mom making hot dog pancakes but it was just slices in the batter.

If I had made a hot dog pancake I would have made it more like an okonomiaki or a Chinese scallion pancake style, not this pureed "disgrace". There are so many creative and good interpretations of hot dog and pancake, why this one?

My thought on the pizza waffle was don’t put the sauce inside. Go with the calzone idea (cheese and meats inside) and only use the sauce for dipping. And what about a brushing of garlic olive oil on the outside of the dough before assembly, so the flavor bakes into that crust? Then serve with warmed sauce on the side. This was the one recipe that looked good to me.
Should definitely be bacon bits in that burger "crust" to make it a proper artery clogger.

better way to do the burger thing also, just fill a burger meatball with cheese then bread and deepfry, you can also bread it with that potato dough that you see in all the korean cooking channels

That hot dog pancake thing should have had cornmeal in it to simulate a corn dog.
Cut pizza crust in two circles. One larger than the other. Put the larger one on the bottom. Fill it then fold it up. Put the smaller circle cut to size on top. No squeeze out.

You can re use frying oil. Just let it cool and strain into a bottle and store in a dark place. The oil will be good for several fries unless you really burnt it or used it for seafood.

There's a place near where I live that has a similar burger to the fried double there, though a bit more involved.
They use a juicy lucy style for the interior. With swiss, diced bacon (cooked crisp) and diced, sauteed mushrooms on the interior, they don't freeze it, but let it cool slightly after getting it started on the grill, then powder it with seasoned flour and dunk it in the batter before right into the deep frier. Originally, it was an early lunch special option if they had leftover pancake batter and bread crumbs (Same they use for their onion rings), but then shifted what batter they used for it and made it all day. There are quite a few other options.
There's another few places making a similar thing, though rather than a batter, they wrap it in dough before frying.
One of the better tasting options for the exterior was using an Navajo fry bread recipe for it (though the place isn't actually run by them, the owner started making Navajo Tacos a long while ago after a vacation, then decided to try it with the burger option rather than the other

so thereis a restaurant by me that makes what are called Fernando cakes, its a cornbread based pancake that has slices of jalapenos and hot dogs in it. They are very good, but i don't use syrup just a nice honey butter

Question: what do you do with the excess deep fry oil? I’ve always wanted to try certain recipes but i rarely fry and I can’t imagine throwing all that oil away after only one dish 😅
Strainer it into a glass jar and reeuse it.
Just strain, store in a jar and reuse for for the next deep frying (wouldn't use it more than 3 times, starts to get nasty).

David and Family, I have a couple of suggestions 1-for the Waffle-Pizza-bleeding-horror - the dough was in one piece. I would have formed it the size of the iron (a bit bigger) and crimped the edges before putting it on the machine, like a hand pie. 2- you suggested seasoning the behemoth yourself. There were no herbs or spices in the batter, the fries and with you could have put a touch of ketchup inside with the burger. Love the videos. yes this was very nostalgic of the cenozoic-seymour explosion 🙂 All the best Jim Oaxaca (I really don't understand why you don't change these obviously faulty recipes. Just so we ALL don't have to suffer the terrorized face of the first catastrophe)

Dude it's funny, I saw the channel Cultmoo on youtube make that pizza waffle years before they did it on tiktok. Honestly, people act like this is new but people have been doing dumb stuff like this a long time. look up "ROFLWaffle" on youtube, they have a bunch of funny and weird videos of them making the most random things. Example: cereal waffles, thanksgiving waffles, taco waffles, ect. My favorite one of their segments though is "Just desserts" the funniest episode being them making Ghost pepper ice cream.
