From what I've been able to gather about Jumpers, they are actually really friendly by nature (assuming you aren't something smaller than them that they see as food). Alot of spiders, when it comes to Human's, or anything that's larger than them really, they're very reclusive and timid, but Jumpers seem to be perfectly fine with chilling around people as long as no one tries to hurt them.
it's official, Jumping spiders have joined the ranks of Dogs and Cats. Videos like this exposing their curious mannerisms and seemingly enjoyed handling means people are gonna see how cool they are and want at least one in the house to catch flies and mosquitoes.
TOP NOTCH macro... often music blows the video... in this case, the music is just PERFECT... I'm on a macro quest myself these days and you are an inspiration!
I saw a documentary about them, either on animal planet/discovery channel, or online. It was demonstrating how they problem solve when they hunt bigger stronger faster spiders, and that their thought processes are not "out of sight, out of mind." They were also demonstrating how they communicate with their mandibles. What I said was taken verbatim from the show.
Thank you! At a certain point I became embarrassed by my singing voice and then decided to only have instrumental background music, so I appreciate hearing that.
Yes! Jumping spiders are a big part of why I like life. P. audax were common where I grew up, among other smaller ones I had trouble identifying (since I never knew a good enough book to i.d. the varieties). The whole family of spiders seems so smart compared to other arthropods. Just look at it studying everything. And you see them "calculate" the right time and distance to jump prey, sometimes changing and readjusting their approach.
Great job! Love the display shots, seems he was pretty impressed/terrified with what he saw hahaha. Great photos, always love the video footage you get, it's a pleasure to be able to see these spiders up close!
These little spiders are so cute and all so different in their colours..I was taking an image the other day of one stalking a fly.It moved so slow so not to scare the fly..I was using a diffused flash and a reversed lens..You vids are inspiring....thanks
What an outstanding and beautiful video...! You always bring these little spiders to life with you magical ability to capture these amazing creatures via your eyes :*)
I've been a scardy cat for spiders all my life but the way he presents them makes them so cute, I couldn't do anyhing remotely similar with them, I'm still scared but it's nice someone is showing a diferent perspective
Beautiful I love it so much! I never comment on youtube videos but I had to for this one. I just love that it reminded me of someone hanging out with their best friend or pet dog and it was this little guy :)
Wow!!!! Great great great details! What a nice macro image too! I just started macro photography about 2 weeks! To be half as good as you, might take me years and might be my whole life! Good macro!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, I looked up Jumping Spider Shadowboxing and found some funny vids of them bopping up and down and teeter-tottering it's arms about. Good stuff :D
Everyone frets about which gear to by. Thomas uses an older Pentax with a reverse vintage lens and surpases us all in photo quality. Think about that for a moment.
Awwwwwwwww, kawaii desu ne!!!! I don't like that much arachnids, but always liked these ones. They're so small, funny and very expressive. Also, great predators, but cute ones.
I'm amazed at how well you make them cooperate. Must take a lot of time and patience. I know I have asked this question before, but what type of camera are you using?
Oh crap! I loved your video, it is awesome! I don't do video, I do macro photography and to see the little thing in your vid was a delight!. I was very amused when it was confronted to itself in the mirror, classic!
I love this species! But both times I've seen it (including today) have been outside on my school trash can. Both females. They are great to handle because they aren't as jumpy and tiny as some other jumpers, for instance, a Habronattus coecatus. I went back after school today with my camera in hopes of finding the mystaceus I saw but no luck.

I love jumping spiders. They look like 1930s roadsters with legs.
Great musical accompaniment, I LOVE these adorable jumping spiders! They are just SO cute, and seemingly smart for a spider.
After four years, still in love with this video - and these adorably lovely spiders. Thank you!
It is nice to see someone who finds the same joy I do in capturing images of these great little creatures.

I noticed jumping spiders have the best personalities.
Probably cause their huge eyes can actually see the world :)
I'm amazed at how well you make them cooperate. Must take a lot of time and patience. I know I have asked this question before, but what type of camera are you using?
