Your analysis is spot on, and I always love good math explanations. So, yes, the ToR should definitely be built and leveled first. But at some point, most active GE players have that done already. The Flying Island isn't about competing with the ToR. It's about two things: something for higher-level (read: richer players) to spend their wealth on, and/or something new that provides a surprise. This game can turn so monotonous in certain aspects. I was thrilled when the HC and SC came along. Not a guaranteed daily production, but sometimes you have a WOW day that makes the game fun. It's so nice to get that 200 FP pack, or even more than one of them in a day. This building will do the same thing. It adds a little surprise to the day. Most days, it won't be much, but then you'll get that 150 FP pack and it'll be a fun little surprise again. Some players would give anything to have fun surprises than have to grind through another 500 auto-battles in GBG or another 30-60 minutes of recurring quest loops for their CF. It's mind-numbingly boring for a ton of players. I'm always amazed at people who complain about not having the time to work on a settlement, so this GB sucks. Great, that's your playstyle. We get it (and we also don't care). That does NOT mean the GB is bad. It only means that it doesn't fit YOUR playstyle. For someone who plays regularly and also does the settlements, this can be a nice addition to a city. However, I do admit to a small amount of disappointment. I've seen so many better suggestions from you guys for a new GB, so this one is a little underwhelming. Nevertheless, we all know there are WAY worse GBs in the game than this one. And one more thing: please stop mentioning ROI. This game is about 24-hour production, and nothing else. If you really dig into how long before you get your invest of FPs back on every single GB, you'll discover that the most popular ones in the game still take months and months and months to pay for themselves. ROI is literally meaningless in this game. The only important thing is improving your daily production, including your combat bonuses. If your FP production is weak, then you need to spend whatever it takes to get that fixed. Same for goods, coins, supplies, military bonus, whatever. How long to get your investment back is literally meaningless. Once you shift your focus to this way of thinking, the game is easier and more fun. It'll let you make reasonable, achievable goals in a reasonable amount of time. Sorry for the rant, and thanks for the video, MooingCat.
It is probably too late now to expect changes to the building, but make sure to still add your feedback in the feedback threads when the age is released. If you like it say that, if you don't like it say that, make sure they know what you think :)
It seems like they've run out of ideas for Great Buildings. A random chance at getting a random reward which consists of something you can already get reliably. Originally, all the GBs gave some combination of: Coins Supplies Happiness Goods Medals Forge Points Coin Bonus Supplies Bonus Attack Bonus Defense Bonus Then there were a few original ones, like Chateau Frontenac and Alcatraz. Then later, the Arc, and other combat benefits like Kraken and Virgo Project. Others like Truce Tower and Seed Vault are just different ways to get the same stuff. They need to come up with something original. The game seems to have grown beyond its concept.
I dont agree that it worth building it only for its beauty. We all agree that Flying Island and ToR gives similar rewards and chance of drop, in terms of Fps and Goods. There are several aspects to take into account, though: 1. Size: Flying island is smaller than ToR (as @mechmat mentioned here); 2. Flying island gives 6 chances/per day (=24/4). ToR gives 9/per (=64/7) day BUT you loose almost 2 days (before the new Guild expedition starts). This results to 7/per day (for ToR). So, they are quite similar in the number of chances, after all; 3. Flying Island is really expensive. ToR is much much cheaper; Now, the decision is yours (considering the above). In conclusion, a developed city could afford leveling it and get good benefits from it. If you are a newbie (less than 200-300fp daily collection) you should definitely build ToR and leveling it, NOT the Flying Island.
Regarding point 2, it is ~9 chances per day (you get 64 chances per 7 days, doesn't matter when you can use them) , so +50% more chances :) FI has slightly higher chance of happening, but it will still give fewer shards than relics from ToR (18 (FI) vs 21 (ToR) per week at level 80). The FPs and Goods are similar that's right, but other than those the ToR gives a lot of buildings you can sell to the AD (or build if you're a developing player). The FI doesn't give any buildings, and don't have a lot else to make up for it. So for me the only advantage of the FI is the size (and look), but the cost and imo worse rewards does not make up for the smaller footprint.
@@MooingCatFoE Actually the cooldown of Guild Expedition matters after a month of so:). Four weeks of GE take longer than a month:) Otherwise, I agree ToR gives a greater range of rewards. ToR is definitely better to build, overall. However, you can consider building Flying island at a certain point. =) Its not that worthless:)
@@andrewb1570 Doesn't really matter when comparing the FI and ToR. You have 64 chances every 5 days with a 2 day cooldown, so 64 chances every 7 days. For FI you have 6*7=42 chances every 7 days. So ~9 vs 6 per day. But yeah, when you're at a stage when FPs doesn't really matter anymore you can definitely build it, I'll get it soon enough, but for everyone else I don't think it's worth the investment to build it.
I even see a lot of high level players in my world chasing after these building. Which surprises me. But I'm sure it's a nice new building to have in your city. I'll pass for now.
I am so optimistic! first time i ever heard about this building i understood it is giving you a shard every 4 hours. But it is actually a chance to get every 4 hours. So sad to ear that.

I don't get it how most everyone knows how terrible this is but still I'm seeing a bunch of people get it! One asked so what are the rewards for the settlement specific mysterious shard? And once they got answer 2 days later they have it! I saw another in hood get it and got it to 10 using print hunters lmao! I don't know if people just love the look of it or just want to get crap rewards as that rare mysterious shard one has such a low chance of ever getting and that seems to be the draw of getting this awful Grea...Lame Building! I really hope that inno starts making things better! As with how disappointing this era is and with the new event hub that is designed to make getting to prize building almost certainly costing money, then the recurring cap, and just overall it's getting more and more disappointing! But great vid! Thank you for all your vids! Hah you know that every double Sakura Rock setup comes from you as I didn't start seeing them until you came out with! Also that fall event got way more interest after everyone saw your setups! I saw it everywhere hey have you seen the spreadsheet with all the attack defense setups? Hahahaha! Legendary MooingCat🤘🤘🤘
It's not a great gb but I got it anyway because ppl are thirsty for new gbs. I got mine to 80 with spending about 2.5 k which means roi is much better than regular leveling
I still think it's good, even though my strategy may vary from others and I'm totally aware of that. I guess it is awesome that: - it works even if you don't really care about developing your settlement; - it adds to the goods I get with the help of Relics to sell everything on the market later and aim the good stuff that are only provided at the store; - I don't go through the trouble of beeing kept out of an Expedition (by changing guilds, or having a blocked level on the way). In fact, it works if one is just out of any guild. - I guess it is still not as big as the Temple of Relics; - more settlements are on the way and - just as the Expedition does - I get goods both ways; - if more advanced settlements come, I'll possibly be able to get more forge points.
I thought maybe the feedback from beta may have changed out the rewards from being crap to being rad! But I just don't get it as nothing has changed! It's still a no age GB being marked as Venus! This GB should have came out as a no age building and then possibly it may be worth ihhhh... No this is just garbage! I really haven't liked how little is in the space ages! The last era that has plenty of things for the earth city is VF which is visually stunning! Then it goes to 1 residence 1 production from tech and 1 of each for diamonds! But at least the space carrier could give 200FP at 9 chances a day until 91, then 10! But the goods are even! The random good one is awful! But great video!
Planning for long term, l don't think that l'll be constructing FI. l don't want to level it up to 80ish! Settlements will max out soon for me, so l won't be playing them for much longer.
I don't know why you wouldn't factor in selling the kits to AD, especially if you're in SAV since you probably don't need too many of them anyway. Also, this might compare a little more favorably if you compared it to TOR for per square production, since it's smaller. That being said, I agree with your general conclusions, it doesn't appear to be worth building.
I definitely think it's worth keeping and using the items. A lot of buildings get their attack values increased, for example, so having one ups or reno kits to improve those can be very nice. And of course getting event buildings to SAV when that is out will help a lot getting through the techs quicker, to get the Power Dragon and 2nd expansion, among other things :) And for me personally, I still have a lot of stuff to store and sell (SoKs, WWs, etc), so all the store building kits go towards them. And finally, another reason I didn't include them was to make the distinction between the buildings clearer - essentially all the things you exclusively get from Flying Island vs things you get exclusively from ToR. As for size, yeah I definitely should have mentioned it. It makes the efficiency better, but to me it doesn't really matter as the much higher cost of the building should make it give more FPs, Goods etc, I'd say even more than it currently does, factoring in the size.
I wonder if this video needs updating. . . with all the EBs now in FoE. . the Mass Aid/Aid kits it generates are very useful. Is so important to get all EBs Aided. . .even maxxed Friends is not enough.
As I said you don't have to actively play the settlements, you just have to leave one open. The rewards aren't good and that's definitely a valid reason not to get it, but I wouldn't use the fact that you don't do settlements as a reason not to get it :)
