  • If you want to know how I made my dishing stump to make boles and other curved items, pull up a chair, grab a beer, here we go.

    Good idea! You could probably do the entire thing with the circular saw.... Lower the blade by 1/16", set it on the stump and turn it in a full circle, then repeat about 40 times until you get the depth you want.

    Been looking for a clear method for this - forged a bowl once using this tree stump method, but since it wasn't mine, I had no idea how to make the bowl form myself. :) Cheers for filming and sharing!

    Those are great I make mine out of four or five layers of inch and a eight ply, use all six sides in different shapes

    I made one a few years ago and it worked well but yours is deeper. Time to break out my circular saw and try your technique to rough in a deeper dish! Thanks!

    Nice job. I’m starting one right now for the first time. I’m using black walnut, what kind of wood did you use. What’s in your wood finish besides linseed oil? Thanks
