I never noticed the Zell reference! Great catch. I really appreciate everything they included from Traces of Two Pasts, as well. Nojima's worldbuilding is packed with slice of life moments.
I loved the little clues in the flashback especially the one where cloud sits on the water tower without removing the buster sword from his back.
Was looking forward to these new breakdowns for Rebirth

I am so excited! I've been playing through the game slowly, but I have to at least keep ahead of these so I can watch em right away =p
Noteworthy, in remake the tornados hit sector 5. In rebirth's other world, they hit 1, 2 and 0. The shinra tower is knocked down. Said tower is exactly the same angle that was left when Sephiroth threw it in the singularity.
Though what is weird is Cloud will hear a broadcast stating that they hit 0, 1 and 2. But outside the Shinra tower is fine and later Rufus is in the tower multiple times in different locations of it.
I was waiting for this and definitely learned a few things, thanks! Excellent work :)

These are great. Spotting the references to Zell and Ruby Weapon were eagle-eyed, and all the connections to Norse mythology and Sephiroth were super interesting. Really looking forward to seeing the rest of this series.

The way I square the logic of "a" buster sword vs "the" buster sword is that a Buster Sword is simply a type of sword in Gaia - something that a lot of SOLDIERs use. The Hardedge, for instance, is a type of Buster Sword.
The lineage of Angeal/Zack/Cloud's Buster Sword is unique, but Angeal just wasn't the type of guy to name his weapon. Total head canon, though.

Something else i found interesting. It implies things of chapter 0 and its revisits later. Click show more, spoiler warning.
In the other world, Zack is from months in the past, Biggs is from "noe", seemingly, and sector 5 plate appears to be partly fallen or thats sector 6 up above in chapter 0. But noteworthy, amid excessive destruction, Motorball isnt just here. It is caked in rust, as if it had been there for years.
Biggs and Zack mention their internal clocks are out of whack.
It reminds me a little of time compression, but used differentoy, like muddled memories.
