Same here. It was so tough to see Leonard continuously trying to please her only for her to show favoritism to Sheldon.
I absolutely despised that toxic woman. I realized almost from the beginning that Leonard was nothing to her other than the subject of a cruel social experiment, but the moment that really tore it for me was when she admitted that to him and ended the conversation by taunting him, telling him that the experiment was not yet complete.
No kiddin', just teard up from this. Seen the show about seven Times. About to start it all over. No great shows left between this, Modern family, Single parents, Mom (first three seasons) 😬 Greatnes🙌🏾

I agree. Being able to forgive someone who's hurt you can be a very hard thing for anyone to do, but you do truly feel so much better when you do.
Its impressive for Leonard, still makes me think his mother gets off scott free for basically tormenting her son, but that's the shows message, it's OK to be an awful human being aslong as ur smart enough.

For me, it is when Howard refuses to read the letter his father left behind. Hits too close to home.

@@icedkaffe Meaning when Sheldon brought out the ring after Amy said goodbye to him, you could hear a few gasps from the audience, but it was very low to hear. Either that, or it was the sound of the drawer opening.
As a tribute to Carol Ann Susi, there's a tiny picture of her on the side of Leonard and Sheldon's frig (camera-facing) in every episode since she passed until the end of the series. It was a very loving and meaningful touch since she was never seen on camera...and then she was...every time.
Oh, that's sweet and heartbreaking at the same time! I'm gonna look for the picture next time I watch the show. Thank you!
I remember Carol Ann Susi when she was on That 70's Show. She played a receptionist for a talk show host played by Mary Tyler Moore. Carol gives Jackie (Mila Kunis) a hard time. Carol had that distinctive voice.
I remember seeing that on the DVD special features. I thought that was a sweet gesture to honor her in the final role she played. The interviews made it sound like she was much beloved by the actors and the production team.

The scene where Leonard forgives his mother is gold. Beautifully acted and portrayed. Filled with so much emotion.
While howard's mom dying is very sad,it's very sweet when sheldon points out that all his friends will be there to help him through it,a rare unselfish sheldon moment.

While it makes scene Sheldon doesn’t understand a lot of things about people but he does know what it feels like to loose someone you love so when his friends mom died Sheldon of course wants to help

Of course the scene where Howard reveals his mom passed away had to be number one.
It really was shocking since we had to lose the hilarious dynamic of Howard and his mother. Given Carol Ann Susi’s death forced that change it made the moment even sadder but brought the group closer in sharing their memories
every time i watch that episode it reminds me of my grandma and how she acted like another to me
Her influence on all of them, her wonderful personality, and how they berate each other as family meant so much.

It was actually horrible. I cried like a baby. And to make it worse the actress actually died which somehow made it heartbreaking all the more.
Stuarts depression moments always were too relatable for me and the fact that everyone treated him like a sad tomato hurted me so often, as I have battled depression for years and still not fully healed

The fake audience laugh in response to Stuart saying that his shrink committed suicide and named him in the note, was infuriating.
At the exact moment Howard turns towards the camera after hanging the phone I KNEW what happened. Simon Helberg just NAILED that scene.
We knew actress had passed away, so a scene was anticipated. They did it really well.
When Amy dropped that truth bomb on Sheldon on their Nobel prize day, I kind of teared up.

Clearly Howard’s mother dies, is the punch in the stomach. Given Carol Ann Susi sadly passed away in real life. I miss her and Howard yelling.
That episode had to have been particularly hard for the cast to get through, her and Howard yelling at each other was classic, and when Bernadette started to sound like her...
@@Nina-rg8es I remember there being a decision to make whether to have Melissa Rauch (Bernadette) carry on the character since she could do a really good impression of her, or to have her pass away. In the end they decided to have the character pass away, which really was the better way to honor her and the actress Carol Ann Susi.

@@Nina-rg8es I need to find where I read that. It would have been right around when Carol passed away, which I believe was some time during Season 8 cause there was time between the actress passing and the character passing.
That was what made the show so funny for me. I loved hearing them yell at each other.
The one where Sheldon’s dad inspired them through a VHS tape after their theory was disproved and he said “Thanks, Dad. We’re gonna give them hell.” I cried a little lol.. And then they won a Nobel prize.

I always liked the episode where Leonard and Penny are fighting, and Sheldon has a flashback of his mom and dad fighting. It's done with humor but it does show the lasting effects of abuse, especially emotional.
The relationship between Leonard and Beverly has such impact, because it's a very realistic issue that not all the sitcoms dare to deal with it.
Christine Baranski manages to bring so much heartbreak to their scenes together. I'm glad the show ended with their relationship more realistic than all magically fixed, too.

Yeah. My mom has a similar issue to my granny, so I watch a situation like that close. I see how having a dysfunctional mother affects a person. Mom tries to be better tgan her, and that results her in making mistakes, but still better at least.
Every Chuck Lorre show deals with it. One minute you are laughing and then they kick you in the gut. Mom is the best for that.
I agree. I had a mother who was often cold and never apologized. I wish I could have reached the point he did.
When they make up stories for Howard when he finds his dads letter.. that one always makes me cry, especially Amy’s “your dad was at your graduation and he cried because he was so proud of you”
I believe her story is the truth, based on Sheldon’s reaction.

He sees Amy made up a better story so he decides to change his. Which means he didnt know what she was going to say.

#2 shouldve been the part where Sheldon reveals why he doesn’t celebrate his birthday… when he was little, his sister and her friends lied about batman coming to his birthday party and he spent all day waiting for him and when he never showed, they made fun of him. 💔
I loved the one where Leonard forgives his mom. Forgiveness is so hard but freeing. He performed that so well.
The scene where Raj cries after Lucy's anxiety causes her to break up with him ALWAYS gets to me, and he thinks he's too unlovable to find true love! 💔😢
I have severe anxiety too. But I'll never let that make me break up with someone I love!
Not to point anything out but they made him unlovable no why in hell one of the main characters end up with nobody but Stuart found some one to love
I sympathized with her a lot because I have social anxiety, and the feelings can be overwhelming, even causing you to hurt others when you don’t mean to, which in turn causes more anxiety.

The whole character of Sheldon was incredible, and ended up being the most emotional through the series. Its like the show was entirely based around how he was a lost soul in this mad world.
The final episode, where Amy points out his selfishness but that he never means it. That moment was so hard to watch but the final scene. When he's doing his acceptance speech, the whole thing had me in tears

Saddest part is, despite EVERYTHING Stuart did for the group, he nor Denise weren't in that final shot of everyone eating together.
They were back at the Wolowitz' house "listening to Sade"
I was totally on board for a Stuart and Denise series.
Stuart was ALWAYS ostrizised from the group! He NEVER apeares on any of the DVD covers!
Stuart was the only character to suffer from character devolution. The character that took out Penny, who had a sharp wit and a talented artist, was a far cry from the neurotic, hypochondriac, paranoid one that he became. Just a waste.

One thing I've always admired about the show is how it sets up big comedic plot points and gives them a tragic end. Most of the examples on this list are like that.
Sheldon's Nobel Prize Speech should've been on here; he realized the error of his ways and made his biggest moment about his friends, saying he was sorry for his selfish behavior, and showed how he felt about them. Jim Parsons' performance was great and that moment was showing us that Sheldon has come a long way then from the start of the show and a great way to end the show
I don't think it was a sad moment, more of a touching one, especially when he reference the first episode when they first meet Penny. It felt more happy than sad
He got me when he called Howard as “Astronaut Howard Wolowizt”

Leonard forgiving & then his mom hugging him would be 1 for me. It such a great scene Leonard finally realize his mother is not gonna change it's how she is & he accepts that & forgives her finally bringing peace to their relation.
Beverly was a monster. Myself, I would have severed all ties with her once I became reconciled to that fact.
12:19 This was beautifully acted by Simon Helberg. The sound of all the air leaving his lungs when he says "My mom died" is so raw and real. That's the sound of a person trying to give voice to a sudden, horrible, and inescapable truth. When I saw this scene the first time, I could feel it through the screen and the air went out of my lungs right along with his.
I felt that twice when I gotten calls about my grandparents. Years later and it still sucks.
When Bernadette hugs Howard and says "Oh Howie" always brings tears to my eyes 😢

I’m not the biggest fan of the show but my mom is and sometimes I’ll see an episode on and Raj got dumped by a girl who was too shy and when he broke down with Penny made me so sad

I lost my mother the exact same way in 2016. She went to go take a nap and when my step dad went to go check on her she wouldn't respond. The worst heartache I have ever felt was when the one person who never gave up on me left this fragile existence. I miss you Mom.❤

My wife's Mum also passed in the same way, the day before my wife's 60th birthday.
Pat told her husband John that she wanted a nap and he said that he would bring her a drink an hour or two later.
When he took it to her Pat had passed peacefully in her sleep.
It's hard for my wife to celebrate her birthdays now knowing the anniversary of her Mum's passing is the day before it.
You know, I realize that not everyone always gets their “happily ever after” but I think what really made me sad is knowing that Raj, for all we know, wound up alone after all this time. The “beloved foreigner”, as Sheldon once called him, never found love but everyone else did. In my opinion, they did him dirty for that.
Agreed. Especially since he sort of had a chance but in the end Howard stopped him from going after the woman who could’ve been his one.
@@tjtruesdale3262 Raj and Anu didn't exactly click, though. For the most part, they were both only rushing into marriage to keep up with their respective friends. Anu wasn't into many, if any, of the things in which Raj was interested, like music, cooking shows, and rom-coms. Howard was actually correct when he said, "When you propose to someone in Notting Hill, it should be to someone who knows what that movie is." While Raj ended the series single, this more than likely opens the door for him to continue his quest for love in another potential spinoff.
@@movinitlikedat45 I’ve always wanted them too try and do a potential spin off kinda like young Sheldon where they focused on the kids of the show growing up but I think without Jim Parsons people wouldn’t really give it a chance.

The moment with Lucy breaking up with Raj due to anxiety is not only sad bc Raj got his heart broken. It was heart breaking bc of the mental health stigma Lucy had to endure. Sometimes people with anxiety have such low self-esteem that they don't believe they deserve anything good that comes to them, including love.
I didn't cry at that one. I was more frustrated with it because of the way Raj was pushing Lucy way too much.

The scene with Sheldon and his brother George have a real heart to heart about their up bringing in the hotel room was a really touching scene.
Yep. Just goes to show that our perception of the same event(s) is not always the same.
For me, when Sheldon explains to Penny why he knocks three times just really broke my heart, and Penny’s reaction was what all of us felt!
My wife and I were at the re-shoot for the altered scenes from #1. The cast and crew were definitely somber and mourning despite having to film the scenes with laughter and charisma like they always showed. They had to prompt us to laugh and clap for the audience audio because it was so difficult to laugh and clap after hearing that Carol passed away. I believe they had to use prior recorded audience laugh/applause tracks for some scenes they shot that night. Johnny and Kaley thanked us for being there before the taping and All cast thanked us and said good night afterward.
Thanks for posting this! I wondered how the cast managed to shoot the character death knowing the whole time it was because of the actress' death. Highly respectful not to recast her voice, but it must have been horribly difficult. particularly for Simon and Melissa.
Howard Mom dying is more impactful knowing her actual Actress passed away, The emotions of the cast is more raw knowing they lost a colleague and friend. Definitely hurts the soul.

I think some more sad moments are in the episode about the letter from Howard’s father. For starters, the fact that he didn’t open the letter at all was sad. Then finding out that everyone else knew what was in the letter was more upsetting. Next, the gang making up all their own possibilities of what was in the letter, showing that maybe Howard’s father wasn’t as bad a person as we thought he was, is just heartbreaking. Finally, Howard saying he wanted all the possibilities to be true (even Sheldon’s ridiculous pirate map) would be enough to make people cry waterfalls.
When Raj got that text from Lucy telling him it was over my heart broke for him and then he cried at the end on Penny’s shoulder and finally was able to talk to women I just😢, I always felt for Raj with women. I also felt sad for Sheldon and Amy when she called time on their relationship, when Mrs Wolowitz died was heartbreaking. It’s nice when comedic shows also add in the serious moments.
Sheldon is not selfish, he just doesn’t have the codes to understand feelings. The truth seems natural and healthy to him, he does not understand that it can hurt. Moreover, when he learns that Penny is pregnant, he has not forgotten that she was adamantly opposed to having children. He didn't say anything out of delicacy.
Another touching moment (apart from Shelton's final speech) was when he hugged Penny after she gave him a towel with Leonard Nimoy's autograph.

@@helenmesquita7726 no, the writers said Sheldon never was never on the autism spectrum, he only showed signs and characteristics of it from his behavior. Never confirms or confirmed he was ever diagnosed with it.
Ironically penny was the only person not mad at Sheldon in the finale because she understood this.

Gonna be honest, the chipper voiceover here really undercuts the weight of these scenes
Not the saddest but definitely one of the most emotive moments was when Howard sang his song for Bernadette when she was quarantined. As funny as some of the lines were, "I couldn't have imagined how good my life would get, from the moment that I met you, Bernadette"... that kills me every time. Especially cause he chokes up as well.
There's another Mojo list with the top 10 most wholesome moments on the show, and I think that scene is on that particular list. Some scenes are on both lists.
Honestly I thought it was one of the most controversial moments was when Sheldon said that Leonard and Penny's pregnancy didn't even matter.

To me Howard losing his mother was the most devastating, I’ve also been close to my mom and lived with her all my life and the thought of losing her destroys me.

The first time I watch the final episode and heard Sheldon's speech at the end I started crying uncontrollably. This show got me through a lot of stuff and honestly I didn't want it to end.

I watched TBBT with my dad from 2009-2014 because he died in 2014. He was 65 I was 29. I would say to him at dinner on Mondays "new big bang tonight".

I honestly think the "You are right, I can't catch that!" sentiment was understandable. He didn't know if Penny wanted children or not. He knew it was a major contention between the two of them.
The finale, the episode where leonard fogives his mom, the christmas episode where penny gives sheldon the leonard nimoy napkin, the episode where Howard's mom dies, the episode where Stuart's comic book store burns down, the episode where Howard writes his song to Bernadette about how amazing she is, the episode where professor proton dies, the episode where they have the feast of Howard's Mother's food, and the the episode where howard doesn't want to read his dad's letter and the rest of the group makes up letters for him have to be on my list for sure

Yes especially when he pauses leaving the room and he looks at his dad and says Thank you dad. Remember that's what got him out of his funk and back to work on the Noble. Man that got me. Some one we love who is gone still with us making a impact.
The one I found the saddest was seeing Leonard's mother giving Leonard a genuine hug for the first time, it's painful seeing him trying to gain her appreciation for his existence 💔

I can relate. Once as a kid, a friend was having several friends over for a birthday sleepover except her parents said there were too many of us and one had to go home. That one was me.
@@kittylover62 I went to a couple of sleepovers but after my mom get along with one friend Veronica mom so I couldn't sleep over at her house. And part makes me feel sad. I want go clothes shopping with my other Linda and she had friend go with her old friend Hallie but not me
True, that one was relatable for many. I also related to Sheldon not being able to understand people's emotions and needing a machine for that, which made him upset. Sometimes I also fail to sense other people's feelings.
To be fair Amy takes things to far. Look at the huge paintings she gave Penny. You can't try to talk to her either, she gets over emotional and they give in to her.

Man, I connected most with the moment Leonard forgave his mom. I am 39 years old and growing up my mom was distant from me. It's only been recently that the distant thing started shortening. I won't lie, with the forgiving part I came undone. 😭
I will never stop saying this, the fact that we all sobbed our hearts out for just a voice we heard from the episodes without even knowing what she looked like shows how deep TBBT runs with certain fans. To Mrs. Wolowitz, a loving mother to all of us.

This show is such a beautiful way of showing that you may know everything, be the best at some thing, not be the brightest person, life hits us all the same but also how empathy is one of the most important human traits ever to ever exist.

Howard’s mother’s death, Sheldon finally grieving for Arthur’s death and hugging with Leonard on that loss, Raj getting hurt by Lucy which honestly made me happy for Raj as she was terrible for how she treated him; I get anxiety problems, but she hurt Raj’s feelings by constantly running away from him and then stringing him along
Raj would always try to push her. They had a few conversations about it. That's why she would "run away"

My Mom passed away in 2016,when Howard's Mom passed away i cried my eyes out. Hit me like a lightning bolt. My Dad passed away late 2016.

I never understood why people get so mad at Sheldon's reaction to Penny's pregnancy. She never wanted children or to be pregnant, and never told the group she'd changed her mind on the subject. So Sheldon didn't see any reason to be happy or congratulate her. It makes perfect sense
Leonard's mother scene should be number 2, it's one of the most emotional scenes I've ever seen on a comedy series.
The final scene of the series where Sheldon calls his friends family hit me really hard it wasn't as sad on its own but it just reminded me of all the growth Sheldon went through and that hit me really hard

If we are talking about some of the saddest parts apart from the last episode, for me it was the one that they showed when Will Wheaton made Penny think of breaking up with Leonard, Penny running off in tears was so sad an so well acted.
For me, it's Howard's mom passing. I loved the way they paid tribute to her and the actors really did a good job on this one. It's the only moment that really makes me cry.

Honestly Howard's mom dying was truly the saddest moment of the series for me. A close second was the friends telling Howard what his dad had written.
Stuart was my favorite "minor" character of the series. Him trying desperately to hold back his anger and frustration in his conversation with Sheldon was a hard-hitting moment.

I know it was very sad especially when the actress who played Howard's mum actually died in real life. But when Bernadette says oh Howie, it kind of feels like she is making fun of the situation, but probably because of the voice she uses.

I hated that part as well, after Sheldon's condolence to Howard, she thought that Sheldon was completely emotionless and would say something horrible when he didn't
Exactly. They should have cut that part because it was inappropriate. I think they were trying to lighten the mood a bit since it actually affected the actors but still. It was tacky and horrible. To me it made her look like an ass.

You are INSANE.. there are SO MANY moments in that show that makes me cry and the character development over 9 seasons is undeniably the best I’ve seen in a sitcom.. I learned so much about life from that show. It is absolutely my favorite sitcom ever.. (btw me calling you insane was not meant to offend you, it was an exaggeration meant to convey how much I LOVE HIMYM)
