@@Flamuu btw they added a pair of Japanese captains with enhanced survivability expert, and another skill that I can't remember but had a pointless improvement. They are for coal/dubs in the armory.
on subs u can proc it 3-4 times per game easy. and on dd's u can do it 1-2 times per game. (although the 1st time its activated, u usually dont get any heal)
Thanks Flamu. Watching this made me check my ingame currencies and I realized I could easily afford Lutjens and still have plenty of coal left. Made me check and move around some of my other captains (such as Halsey) as well. Also up skilling some captains using Elite Commander XP.
Yeah, it's like they decided to make him the worst possible commander for french ships. Fire chance on cap? Wow, that's huge. Too bad the french Destroyers almost never cap More speed for 2 million potential? Yeah too bad the french Battleship cant tank for shit so they're already dead by the time they reach this number Reload buff for each devstrike? Too bad the french cruisers never proc this, the french DDs usually die when they do (because yolo) and the garbge french dispersion never allows their BBs to proc it either. Better survivability expert? Too bad it's only useful on DDs
@@Axel23410 Yeah it's exactly that. You look at ANY nation and Auboyneau is S tier. Except France where it's not. Shimakaze, Harugumo, Yamato... They all ADORE him.
You people are too harsh, it's not Kuz or even Lutjens allright but for DDs he still works good enough. You never cap with them? Especially mid game when you can just zoom around map to flip caps? Never devstruck DD with torp? Never yoloed someone and lived?
@@mattmac4087 I never said it's impossible to, just that those concepts reflect other nations SIGNIFICANTLY more. Also, when you do get those buffs, it's often too late to exploit them properly (same issue as Yamamoto). For example, Auboyneau is better on Neustrashimy, Shimakaze or Harugumo than it is on any French ship. Hell, any Pan-Asian ship would love him. Jinan? Yueyang? He's so bad on the French nation that people pick Honore instead.
@@mattmac4087 yes, occasionally he's decent on DDs. Except you're missing something: the honorés Brothers are just as good if not better on french DDs, except it's not occasionaly, it's all the time. You see the pitiful 5% better reload on devstrike? Well Honore's improved AR is actually better than this as soon as your health is below 65%. Now think about it: how many times did you get devstrikes and how many times did your health go below 65%? As for the fire chance bonus, it's effectively good only on Marceau. Kleber doesn't have the fire rate to significantly benefit from it. A commander that's only half decent on ONE specific class while being absolutely useless on every others deserves its D place on the tier list.
Either full tank BB or spotter mod Hinden for ANY use of their pitiful skills, but Lutjens will always be like 5 times more useful. Shame, especially considering soviets have OP Kuz as well as very useful Znamensky bros.
Flammu logic: Swirsky is B tier because you can only run him on destroyers and no other class ships. Meanwhile Europeans have ONLY destroyers and no other class.
havent watched the video yet, but how does Halsey rank anywhere above Yamamoto or French commander when all of Halsey's special are useless because its almost impossible to activate them?
Not a huge fan of how Flamu always just focused on tier 10 or the rare premium ship as to the application of commanders. The game exists outside of tier 10 for the casual players.
With Da Rong on Jinan i had "first blood" "arsonist" and "witherer" in 1 kill and 5 min into battle. So yes, Da Rong is an exellent captain on new pan asian cruisers ! Alfa dmg on these cruiser is not that good so improved fire chance is nice, and more healthpool is appreciated.
Flamu my many...your're by far the most honest reviewer on RUclips being you're not swayed by WG tester perks...BUT, those special commander skills do NOT work in comptetive gaming, WG bans them in CB's....crazy huh ?
Thats the experience you get in wows legends if you don't have good captains your shots are inaccurate, crazy ass dispersion etc these 2 are problematic as your shot will miss even if you line it up perfectly i don't like this bout wows legends the needing to have good captains to hit your salvoes properly this needs changing ASAP at least shots are more accurate on pc wows compared to wows legends
I really appreciate you doing these videos... For someone who is a noob at WoWs its great having these videos and the informations they contain! So, thanks for that!
Swirski works great on Viribus Unitis. It's one my highest winning % ships. Also to answer your question any commander with improved skills has a small star on their profile picture.
How is he OP on fantasque? Sure the 400 more hp is convenient but definitely not game changing. The speed bonus is never triggered. The fire chabce bonus is almost irrelevant since Fantasques guns already have a high fire chance and they don't have a good fire rate. The reload bonus on devstrike is litteraly outshined by Honore's improved AR since you only need to be under 65% hp to get a better reload bonus than Auboyneau's. And I'm not even talking about Honore's improved grease the gear which is invaluable on french DDs because of their sluggish turret traverse. The only ship where you MIGHT get a tiny bit more value out of Auboyneau compared to Honore is Marceau because of her fire rate which makes the fire chance bonus much more relevant. Not Fantasque. Edit: Oh he's also good on Bearn since... Well he's the only french commander with an improved aircraft skill.
They aren't really point starved like some other cruiser lines, the guns can't pen most things so you need to be alive as long as possible hoping for fires and flood damage to match any other cruiser line.
I'd say as a player that loves the Roma I'd say it's the one Italian shop that doesn't need the special commander because of the insane concealment and ok range for t8
As someone who just got Sansonetti for my Roma I'd kinda beg to differ to some regard. 18 km is a little below average for a Tier VIII BB, the fat reach talent is something I've been achieving in basically every match. The extra little boost without the spotter plane has made a huge difference for me, especially when facing Tier X's Plus, It feels special having Sansonetti on my favorite floating slice of pizza :D And besides Lutjens, I don't really need any of the other commanders. And even then, I just got my secondary build German Commander to 21 points, so I decided to not save up for him. I got Sansonetti surprisingly cheap.
So about the trade of 3pts for AR, if you need to lose 50% hp to get a 10% reload from AR, depending on base reload BBs get 2-4 sec reload buff, cruisers 1-3 sec, DDs mostly are 6 sec or less base so most are only gaining 1 sec but mainly fractions of a second saved on reload to lose half your hp, me no likey that
You're thinking about it wrong tbh, in what close game do you not get to half health? And if you're gonna be getting to half health why wouldn't you take a free 10% dmg buff? It's a no brainer, it's like having double reload mod equipped.
I activated the Kraken on Isokuro only once, but i normally dont play IGN BBs. It was on a Hizen game, it saved my life, helped me kill 1 more ships before their Gearing made the mistake of firing and i could finish him 20 Seconds before loosing by points. 7 Kills almost 200k. DOnt play Hizen ever again. Cant get better. Now with Flamus comment im Sad that i did not made a Video. I just uploaded it on replays.
Kutsov often seems not that helpful except in Ranked and clan battles, I often see them die on the next salvo in random. Picked up Sansonetti 1st trying to pick up som extra coal and was pretty lucky. Jersey I picked up specifically for the DDs and haven't regretted it. I'm only up to Oland and like 20 games, but it's my highest win rate of any ship. Pick up Guther next with the intent of griding him on the HIndi suring the dirgible dirby and I really like Him. Kutusov will be next for me..
i think sansonetti is S tier. without him italian ships aren't work. Yamamoto is B tier, because it has good usual skills, great +1 to consumables and also has strongest skill in game. Also he is best commander for every japanese ship.
tbh the new commander system is so good for the players that it wouldn't surprise me if wg revert it to the old one. now its worth to get the special commanders for the nation u have premium ships.
Personal opinion: Always take your individual situation into account when doing your own ranking. If you've already got a special commander from some mission chain or campaign then just use him, preferably on lines that benefit from him the most. Even if he doesn't fully suit your current line, you will get him to level up and make him possibly more useful on other (premium) ships. In the end, it's a free bonus (chance) for you. If you contemplate getting a new special captain you don't already own, look at your premium ship situation: What premium ships do you have, what premium ships do you intend to acquire and especially what premium ships do you fancy playing? Spending 35k coal on one of the panasian Rong-brothers can be worthwhile for you if you really enjoy your Lo Yang or Anshan. Spending 35k coal on the dutch Klaas Janssen can be worthwhile for you if your Groningen hardly has time to rearm in port before you take it out for another spin, even if he just gives you 0.5% additional fire chance. Even spending 35k coal on the constantly underwhelming german Franz von Jütland can be worthwhile for you if you've got many german premium ships and want to try alternative builds besides your main Lütjens captain. He won't be worse than any generic captain but may provide a small bonus here and there (especially with Vigilance now giving a damage reduction on torp hits). The more premium ships you already own, the more value a special captain for this nation gets, even if it's a C or D tier.
future commanders to add to WOW as special commanders. Thomas Kincaid, Frank Fletcher, Spruance, Von spee, Hipper, Scheer, Jellico, Beatty, Hara, Tojo,
Admiral Kidd, Nimitz, Mountbatten, Holland, Yamaguchi, Nagumo, Dönitz, and Zara would also be nice, especially since we have many of the ships they commanded in real life in game. Kidd - Arizona Holland - Hood Spruance - Hornet Yamaguchi - Hiryū (soon)
great vid , every new player should watch yours vids before playing , i never worried about captains un till today . lucky i chose the russin captain to test a while back
I'd rank Yamamoto an A the first kill buff on a Yamato is a 6th heal I get that one out of ever 5 games and if I were head hunting for it I could get that one out of every 3 games. The turret enhancement for a Japanese by player is a must. Now the fun one is kraken but that's rare as hell but man is it funny if you catch it right becomes a 300k game for me.
Yamamoto is broken commander, if the second wind talent activated The only problem is it's quite hard to achieve And when you already kill 5 ships, oftentimes the match is already ended
@@nabilzakiron6615 Totally agree the Kraken is hard to get and often useless when you get it. But the 6th heal is very easy to get just devastate a cruiser at the start of the match. That's not hard to do in yamato. I have gotten the second win where it was absolutely god tier. They had 1 last ship we had 3 but out other 2 were on the other side of the map and were cripples. Their ship was a full health thunderer who could not see me in yamato. When I came out from an island where he didn't expect me he was 11 km away and no chance to go dark and I now had a fresh spotter and a 18 second reload on shells that over matched every thing he had. Took 100k off him in less then 90 seconds ended up with like 320k. I still think the first kill ability puts it up much higher then a C.
Unpopular opinion but i really don't rate Kuznetsov so high. I mean yeah Will to Victory is strong no question but i feel like it only really works against something like HE spammers that don't have the Alpha to just delete the ship. For me it doesn't activate that often in the current meta because most of the time i get hit and have just above the 10% and get destoryed by the next BB salvo. The whole Super Carrier and Submarine BS doesn't make it better either.
It's all relative though, and relative to the other buffs that are either hard to activate (halsey, the japanese one) or not particularly impactful (lutgens), will to victory will always activate, and even against AP, it still has the dispersion buff. The skill is also perfectly synchronized in that it activates at the exact most helpful time and the ability gives you everything you need when it does activate
I don't intend this as a flame, but losing >10% of your health in one salvo is often a sign of a misplay. One of the things that makes the Soviet BBs so good is that with proper angling they're so armored that you have to chip them down slowly. This is perfect for Kuznetsov.
@@Mastermyth08 A Midway will remove 10% of any battleship's health bar through superstructure bomb pens alone. It has nothing to do with being good or bad. And ships like Montana can do the same thing with proper aim. Kuznetsov is overrated. He's good, but he's overrated.
Kuz is straight up broken, I have no clue where you people come from. I guess bow tanking and angling is mystery to you and everytime there is CV you magically get down to precisely 11k HP on your Kremlin before AP bombs finish you off?
First thing, the only Ru ships i play is Moskva and Khaba. If you play Petro or Kremlin, don't even start talking about skill related stuff. But to answer your question.. Im pretty sure im decent enough in the game with 64% Wr as a DD/Crusier player. So i certainly know about Angling.
Low rate of fire high fire chance on the rest of the line. More fire chance doesn't help there. However it does on high fire rate DDS. It's amazing on the agile at t6 too*
This way of making videos where you just do them on stream instead of offline separately really makes the quality suffer. The constant interruptions where you respond to chat make it almost unwatchable.
Ovechkin was only available during the Great 8 campaign in 2018, and there were four versions of Ovechkin in that campaign (hockey helmet one in the premium shop, "Tsar" Alexander with crown from...I forgot, but I have that one, US Navy uniform from collection, and USSR Navy uniform from a combat mission series). Only benefit of getting any of this captain was that you got a 15-point captain out of the gate. Skills are meh.
i absolutely love aubonyeau on condé… u get dev strikes all the time + its really easy to get 2m potential running lighthouse (whilst running honoré 1&2 on kléber & marseille).. even in something like bourgogne or patrie those are really easy to proc. + honestly he has *the* prettiest shell arcs of all commanders imo.. that dark blue is absolutely stunning..
Lütjens is by far my favorite just because he is so flexible and helps out every class. Resilience is super good in Narai as well, as it is easy to get multiple procs of it there and it offsets the chip damage from forts and DDs. He is the god of Narai, in fact; he turns Weimar, München, and Scharnhorst into absolute farming machines in there and generates so much free/captain exp that he is worth picking up just for that.

The ship itself may be called pointless allright
John Doe was originally Steven Seagal, but was re-named after WoWs dropped him (even had his voice) & could be originally gianed via a campaign
There’s lots of other special commanders (like honore and doe) in the armory for dubs/coal.
And I covered them all, which you'd know, if you'd watched the vid.
@@Flamuu my bad I commented before I watched the last 5 minutes and forgot to edit. And when I said “like honore and doe” I meant other commanders of that type. Also I think you did forget Jack and Bert Dunkirk, as well as The Mighty Jingles, the most “special” commander of them all
@@Hahlen Sadly the Jingles and ComRichard commanders start with only 3 points and their perk is their awesome voicelines.
@@Flamuu btw they added a pair of Japanese captains with enhanced survivability expert, and another skill that I can't remember but had a pointless improvement. They are for coal/dubs in the armory.
@@Flamuu Watched the whole video. Didn't hear you mention the Dunkirks at any point.
Lutjens' Resilient perk is nothing major but I've procced it a few times that it made a real difference. I'd rather have 3500 hp than 500. 😄
on subs u can proc it 3-4 times per game easy. and on dd's u can do it 1-2 times per game. (although the 1st time its activated, u usually dont get any heal)
Thanks Flamu. Watching this made me check my ingame currencies and I realized I could easily afford Lutjens and still have plenty of coal left. Made me check and move around some of my other captains (such as Halsey) as well. Also up skilling some captains using Elite Commander XP.
about Azuma "This alone probably puts her into A or B tier"
Nope that is at least D tier maybe double D tier
Halsey is F Tier because they renamed "Hit Fast" and "Hit Hard" to generic stuff
Auboyneau is the best commander.. If he was in the japanese nation.
Yeah, it's like they decided to make him the worst possible commander for french ships.
Fire chance on cap? Wow, that's huge. Too bad the french Destroyers almost never cap
More speed for 2 million potential? Yeah too bad the french Battleship cant tank for shit so they're already dead by the time they reach this number
Reload buff for each devstrike?
LOL ThexppKiller at 53:19 lol "I love that the best captian is historicly from a nation with a trash navy." Fucking gold star bud.
The fact that you did not even mention the von Jutlands tells people all they need to know about that pair.
I found a use for their improved Vigilance for a german BB tank build, but other than that they're (still) pretty subpar.
Normal people don't even get most of these.
Can we get a weeb commander voice tierlist?
Littorio - S Tier
(If she is anything like in her game)
With Da Rong on Jinan i had "first blood" "arsonist" and "witherer" in 1 kill and 5 min into battle. So yes, Da Rong is an exellent captain on new pan asian cruisers !
Alfa dmg on these cruiser is not that good so improved fire chance is nice, and more healthpool is appreciated.
Flamu my many...your're by far the most honest reviewer on RUclips being you're not swayed by WG tester perks...BUT, those special commander skills do NOT work in comptetive gaming, WG bans them in CB's....crazy huh ?
Wg: so let's make the commanders with crap or limited navies brilliant, but commanders with actual navies let's make meh
ah the old consumables, some times I miss having to collect up premium consumables. Ah and the old rank badges. I am missing the good times.
Auboyneau is OP only in the Fantasque, most people set him by error in T10
Thx ship tool XD
German Ships are good? 😂
GK be like 🙄 😑 😒 😣 😭
the russian commander perk only last 15s now so its useless waste of coal
I was a bit surprised to hear you advocate SE on Pan-Asian cruisers - any chance of a video featuring a suggested build?
They aren't really point starved like some other cruiser lines, the guns can't pen most things so you need to be alive as long as possible hoping for fires and flood damage to match any other cruiser line.
29:14 I get the meaning, we have our own version oc, but may I still ask for spelling? ;)
The extra little boost without the spotter plane has made a huge difference for me, especially when facing Tier X's
Plus, It feels special having Sansonetti on my favorite floating slice of pizza :D
And besides Lutjens, I don't really need any of the other commanders. And even then, I just got my secondary build German Commander to 21 points, so I decided to not save up for him. I got Sansonetti surprisingly cheap.
What does proc mean?
He keeps saying it and I can’t figure it out from context.
When I had researched Repub and was selling my Alsace, I forgot to check my reserve and I ended up accidentally dismissing Jean Jacques Honrore
ouch
damn, thats hurt
ask customer support, they will return him for you.
Send a support ticket.
I did the same thing and they restored him back onto my account
@@Axel23410 It was like a year or so ago. Would it still work?
Wrong! Jingles is the greatest captain. His bullshitery reigns supreme.
John Doe is the generic replacement for Steven Seagal, which I earned for free by completing missions back in year 1 of WoWS.
Thanks flamu. More content like this !
John Doe was originally Steven Seagal.
John Doe aka Casey Ryback aka Steven Segal
Also he is best commander for every japanese ship.
tbh the new commander system is so good for the players that it wouldn't surprise me if wg revert it to the old one. now its worth to get the special commanders for the nation u have premium ships.
good content, but i miss the german brothers Franz und Reinhard von Jütland. Both are still E in the list.
i was hoping WG allowing us to select 1 skill to boost on every commander(or at least on dasha or those 1k gold commanders).
Why a line made up of 80% swedish ships is called "pan european" is the biggest mystery in this game.
33:46 Yep. 😅
54:03 nicee
Azumama is A or B tier
acceptable comment, acceptable research, like, +1 karma
Azuma is at least DD tier...
So, what does John Doe and the like considered as? Enhanced Commanders?
But flamu what happed to viribus unitis?
The feeling when I causally figure out I have sansonetti all this time
Thanks for this.
How could you forget about Megatron and Optimus Prime
future commanders to add to WOW as special commanders.
Kidd - Arizona
Holland - Hood
Spruance - Hornet
Yamaguchi - Hiryū (soon)
Nikolay's Wil to victory talent, what exactly restore the hp actually?
you forgot Sa Zhenbing no ?
How come the blue captains mentioned here don't appear in the captains tab in the armory, if they're available for standard resources?
He already has them, most likely
Stil works?
great vid , every new player should watch yours vids before playing , i never worried about captains un till today . lucky i chose the russin captain to test a while back
I'd rank Yamamoto an A the first kill buff on a Yamato is a 6th heal I get that one out of ever 5 games and if I were head hunting for it I could get that one out of every 3 games. The turret enhancement for a Japanese by player is a must. Now the fun one is kraken but that's rare as hell but man is it funny if you catch it right becomes a 300k game for me.
Yamamoto is broken commander, if the second wind talent activated
The only problem is it's quite hard to achieve
And when you already kill 5 ships, oftentimes the match is already ended
So bad I bought Auboyneau for my Marceau 🙁
It's good for marcaeu bit shit for the rest of the line
Low rate of fire high fire chance on the rest of the line. More fire chance doesn't help there. However it does on high fire rate DDS. It's amazing on the agile at t6 too*
This way of making videos where you just do them on stream instead of offline separately really makes the quality suffer. The constant interruptions where you respond to chat make it almost unwatchable.
Flamu how dare you! You forgot Dasha! 😁
do a list tier for tier best ships in the game
The Jingles commander though. :D
No soviet bias in this game btw lul kik
Ovechkin was only available during the Great 8 campaign in 2018, and there were four versions of Ovechkin in that campaign (hockey helmet one in the premium shop, "Tsar" Alexander with crown from...I forgot, but I have that one, US Navy uniform from collection, and USSR Navy uniform from a combat mission series). Only benefit of getting any of this captain was that you got a 15-point captain out of the gate. Skills are meh.
They should released it for coal
Ovechkins are CV captains for me since that aircraft HP is something you want to run anyway.
Imagine soviet subs with kuznetzov

Hey! thats me! Halsey do be on Alaska
Mandatory youtube engagement comment.
Flamu says Eetalian
why is jingles not on this list??
Kuznetsov is overrated.
You forgot Dunkirk, Jack & Bert.
Flamu, you mentioned you don't really play clan battles. Can I ask why?
He's mostly a solo player, CB is not for solo players.
@@dzello oh that makes sense, thanks
What the guy said. Also streaming and playing CB is nigh impossible, so much stream sniping

i absolutely love aubonyeau on condé… u get dev strikes all the time + its really easy to get 2m potential running lighthouse (whilst running honoré 1&2 on kléber & marseille).. even in something like bourgogne or patrie those are really easy to proc.
He is the god of Narai, in fact; he turns Weimar, München, and Scharnhorst into absolute farming machines in there and generates so much free/captain exp that he is worth picking up just for that.
u have to try him on subs , that it gets proc 3-4 times per game
