I ended up cutting my pixie cut myself; I disliked It, but I asked my dad to make "it look a bit cleaner", because he used to cut his friends hair when he was younger. Now I like my pixie, thanks dad :)

I have wanted a pixie cut for about 4 or 5 years, ever since i was 10 or 11. I wanted one so bad back then and I researched so much and learned about what hair would look best with my super circular face and I was really ready to get it cut. I asked my mom over the entire summer if I could get it cut because I wanted to get used to it before school started and she would keep telling me that its a hard style to maintain and that she had one when she was a teen and it took forever to grow out. I didnt care and kept saying I wanted it cut and then one day she straight up said I would look ugly. It really shocked me when she said that because she had never said anything like that to me before. Now over the past few years I have some time periods where I obsess over looking at short hair cuts and research and I annoy my friends with worried questions about how I would look with certain styles but im too scared to actually get it cut. Last night I almost cut off all my hair with some kitchen scissors so I would have to get a pixie cut but thankfully I didn't. I think its time for me to actually go through with a pixie cut, even if I look bad with it. I never style my long hair because its too much so its ALWAYS in a ponytail so I think short hair will be a good choice for me. Anyway I have come back to this video like 10000 times since you have uploaded it and it has really help me make this decision. (Oof this was just a long rant sorry)

Did you ever get your pixie? Mother's can be so judgemental but they usually do it out of love and concern. My mother hates short hair on herself and always has long hair. She never likes it when I cut my hair short. She won't like it at all when I get my pixie tomorrow but it's my hair and it grows back. I always grow it and then cut it only to grow it again. I love change.
I have very round face 😀😀. I decided to get a pixie 2 weeks ago. My face actually looks slimmer ( which is opposite of what ppl warned me). The haircut actually spread ppl’s attention to your neck, your smile and all other features instead of focusing on the face shape. Have received many compliments!! Cons: - I spend extra 10’ every morning to style my hair with hair clay. - Wash my hair everyday. If your hairstyle doesn’t need wax/gel/clay/.. then it s not a problem
I hate my long hair and really just want to chop it all off! I have a round face, and I'm overweight so the main reason I'm scared is because I feel it won't suit me. Saying that however, I've never styled my hair while it's long, all I ever do is tie it up as I work over a desk and I feel it's more practical. My grandparents hated it when I got a bob so they're gonna freak if I go any shorter too!
I understand all your concerns, being nervous it totally normal! I find that parents and grandparents are often emotionally connected to your hair, especially the hairstyles you had as a young child. But try to focus on what you truly want 💕
As I have shaved my head I was scared too that it won't suit me and that my head seems to be even rounder than before but it is the opposite: my head seems to be slimmer/ thinner (?) and I am feeling so good about just doing what I wanted to do, so just do what you want to do.
Kate Emily did you cut your hairs? It will be fine. You want a short style that add height to the crown if you’re worrying about round face. If you don’t style your long hairs,it just hang there. Obviously you’re not happy with it since you tie it up often. If you’re not happy with the short cut you can always grow it out.😄

I got a pixie several months back and yesterday got it trimmed. I LOVE it! It's so easy to manage and the upkeep is worth it. My husband thought he wouldn't like it, but he loves it too and thinks it makes me look like a badass 🙃 He even let me know when he thought it was getting too long.

I'm considered a pixie cut, I have been for months now. My hair is thinning due to hashimoto's syndrome. Being a woman with alopecia is very depressing. My hair is super fine which is a trouble, as it never holds curl when styling but if i do permanent curling it would hold..too much curl. But yesterday i finally found a stylist who gave me perm just light enough to create big wave on my pixie bang and lift it up without making it super curly, just exactly how i wanted it to be (my fear is finally gone). I got my hair done pixie yesterday and can't stop looking in the mirror now. It really brings out my cheekbones and smile and makes my face look much slimmer. Watching this video after getting it done and i totally agree with you, doing as much research as you can before getting a pixie cut. And when you get it done in the way you want, girls, it CHANGES your life!💃💃💃
Ahhh not gonna lie I squealed a bit during the feature at the end. All of these tips are great! I also recommend researching hair products that are good for pixie cuts and having them in hand when you get it done. For me that was a pomade and texture spray.

I got a pixie a few days ago, and I have more self-confidence now, then before. I think it's suits me and I never thought I am pretty, but now I feel better about myself. :) At first I was scared when the hairdresser just cut and cut and asked if it's short enough... But in the end I couldn't stop smiling, she was happy too that I loved the result. :)
Things to think about: upkeep. Cow licks. May have to wet hair daily. Bangs in face. Upkeep. Upkeep. Upkeep. Looking bad in photos years later noticing lack of upkeep. Regrowth time. Back acne or dirty ears will not be hidden. You may miss option to do something different with your hair. You may have to try harder to feel /present self as feminine.
I got a pixie for my health. I’m in bed with chronic pain a lot and can’t hold my arms up for long. I used to keep it knotted up but bobby-pins hurt too much now. Anyone else have this reason?
Crystal K well a reason i keep a pixie is cause my hair is heavy and if i tie it up it pulls on my hairline and damages it. My logic is that if im contstantly wanting it out of my face then might as well chop it off.
Crystal K yes. Me too. I have rheumatoid arthritis and washing, drying, curling. Gah. Nope. Love my pixie. Everyone says I look great in hats so I have tons of beanies, ball caps for bad hair days. Which I really don’t have anymore but to mix it up!
This video really helped me to work out why I wanted a pixie, what I wanted out of the styles I liked and my stylist was so pleased that I'd gone with a list and talked to him about everything rather than just showing him pictures only. I definitely think these are super great recommendations, I just got my pixie and have been giving very similar tips. I also recommend asking the stylist what kind of products they use like if they use pomades, gels, or leave-in conditioners. You look great!
So I really wanted to get a pixie cut but everyone was like "noo, I like you with ur long hair!" , "nooo get a bob instead" or "it would look horrific on you" I mean I am/was pretty discouraged but like.. eff the haters, I wanna do it so like go for it it! for everyone else who relates to this and has not yet cut their hair, just go for it! try things out, and if you regret it at least you would've done it and regretted it rather than not did it and regretted it. like imagine growing up and showing your kids how badass you were
I had really long hair and had never had it short. When I got my pixie yesterday I told them I wanted it properly short. It was all done with clippers half inch on top and back and sides faded way down. I love the look and feel of it and thanks for giving me the courage to go through with it
Great episode you are right about finding a great stylist. I go to a guy who does aveda runway shows. A cut is $100 but I walk out of the salon feeling beautiful every time.
I think go progressively shorter is the way to go if unsure. Long bob, shorter bob then pixie. So if you don't like it shorter, then it's not such a long haul to get to the previous stage that you preferred.
I changed hair styles every few months,sometimes monthly. You will be happy with the new short cut if you’re easygoing ,flexible,don’t mind changes. I had hair chin length to past shoulder to waist length to pixie even a boy haircuts (shaved sides and back slightly long side bangs). That’s what so fun about hairs,it grow ..so you can change back or to a different hairstyle. It’s more fun with shorter hairs,much faster to dry and style. You can colored your hairs as often as you cut without worrying about damaging your hairs. I like long hairs too but short hairstyles give me more confidence.
I'm cutting 14 inches off tomorrow and donating it to Wigs for Kids. Tomorrow is my 35th birthday, so I'm excited to start the 2nd half of my 30's with something totally different. I've had a long pixie before but tomorrow I'm getting a short pixie that will be long enough on the top to do a faux hawk or just something cute but the sides and back will be short as heck. Everyone keeps telling me otherwise and even my 8 year old doesnt really like the idea. I just wanted to do something different. Thanks I actually ended up getting a Bob because I was so nervous. It's the shortest my hair has ever been and it was a good stepping stone to getting it shorter someday.

I love that your makeup is subtle. Many of the other videos on pixies have women wearing (imho) far too much eye makeup. They look good, but it doesn’t seem practical to me, for everyday wear.
Let me tell a story. One night my mom said that my hair is messy and told me to tie it up. After tieing it I asked my mom if I could cut my hair and ofcourse mom said 'NO'. I asked so many time and she shout at me that I was a girl and I should have long hair. (At that time my hair was 2-3 inches down my shoulder). I kept asking her but she said no again and again. After so much try she said you can cut it up to shoulder I was sooo happy. my mom said don't waste that hair we should donate it to cancer patients. I also thought it was a good idea. So we told this matter to my uncle who is working at mvr cancer center. He asked the employees they said hair should be 17 inches bu my hair was only 12 inches. So they told to grow my hair. And weeks passed by I used many hair oil and shampoo for making it grow and my hair grew from12 to 15. By the way my hair is curly if I straight it, it will be like 17 or 18. So I am waiting for my hair to grow two inches. After my hair grow I will cut it up to my ear. But I know that will not look good on me so I decided to get a boy cut and I figured out I should get a pixie cut so I will tell my parents about it and if I get it I will tell you guys. Wish me luck...

I don't have any experience with growing out my pixie personally, because I love it and don't want to grow it out. You definitely aren't stuck with a pixie, I know other people have uploaded RUclips videos on their experience growing it out :)

But try to not let your acne or not being interested in makeup keep you from doing something you really want to do! If you get a pixie, you will learn how to style it and feel confident with your new look, because true confidence and beauty come from the inside out :)

So this guy I've met is a stylist and told me i would look lovely with a pixie cut due to high cheek bones and oval face shape. (Though my nose puts me off). I said no way at first, then thought why not. He said its better for guy to do girls cuts. So he said he would cut a short lip bob first then go further more if I was happy to..Im 46 and also for some reason, maybe looking more elegant with a pixie will change how people take me seriously..unless that in my head!

My hair is super fine which is a trouble, as it never holds curl when styling but if i do permanent curling it would hold..too much curl. But yesterday i finally found a stylist who gave me perm just light enough to create big wave on my pixie bang and lift it up without making it super curly, just exactly how i wanted it to be (my fear is finally gone). I got my hair done pixie yesterday and can't stop looking in the mirror now. It really brings out my cheekbones and smile and makes my face look much slimmer. Watching this video after getting it done and i totally agree with you, doing as much research as you can before getting a pixie cut. And when you get it done in the way you want, girls, it CHANGES your life!💃💃💃

Last week I had my hair chopped into a pixie. Cut off about 10-12 inches in total. I'm still watching videos about pixies because I'm looking at all the ways to style pixie cuts. Before I saw the new hairdresser (I sought out a master stylist), I had loads of inspiration photos on my phone. Anyway, the reason I'm writing is that your suggestion to wear something that makes you feel pretty is a good one. Because I knew the pixie would be a huge transformation cut, the day of my appointment I put on a little makeup and a nice dress. It made a huge difference. When I walked out of the salon I felt like a new person, fresh and spritely. All good recommendations for those seeking to make the big chop.

I got a pixie a few days ago, and I have more self-confidence now, then before. I think it's suits me and I never thought I am pretty, but now I feel better about myself. :) At first I was scared when the hairdresser just cut and cut and asked if it's short enough... Things to think about: upkeep. Cow licks. May have to wet hair daily. Bangs in face. Upkeep. Upkeep. Upkeep. Looking bad in photos years later noticing lack of upkeep. Regrowth time. Back acne or dirty ears will not be hidden. You may miss option to do something different with your hair. You may have to try harder to feel /present self as feminine.
I got a pixie for my health. I’m in bed with chronic pain a lot and can’t hold my arms up for long. I used to keep it knotted up but bobby-pins hurt too much now. Anyone else have this reason?
Crystal K well a reason i keep a pixie is cause my hair is heavy and if i tie it up it pulls on my hairline and damages it. My logic is that if im contstantly wanting it out of my face then might as well chop it off.
Crystal K yes. Me too. I have rheumatoid arthritis and washing, drying, curling. Gah. Nope. Love my pixie. Everyone says I look great in hats so I have tons of beanies, ball caps for bad hair days. Which I really don’t have anymore but to mix it up!
This video really helped me to work out why I wanted a pixie, what I wanted out of the styles I liked and my stylist was so pleased that I'd gone with a list and talked to him about everything rather than just showing him pictures only. I definitely think these are super great recommendations, I just got my pixie and have been giving very similar tips. I also recommend asking the stylist what kind of products they use like if they use pomades, gels, or leave-in conditioners. You look great!

I mean I am/was pretty discouraged but like.. eff the haters, I wanna do it so like go for it it! for everyone else who relates to this and has not yet cut their hair, just go for it! try things out, and if you regret it at least you would've done it and regretted it rather than not did it and regretted it. like imagine growing up and showing your kids how badass you were

I had really long hair and had never had it short. When I got my pixie yesterday I told them I wanted it properly short. It was all done with clippers half inch on top and back and sides faded way down. I love the look and feel of it and thanks for giving me the courage to go through with it
Great episode you are right about finding a great stylist. I go to a guy who does aveda runway shows. A cut is $100 but I walk out of the salon feeling beautiful every time.

I think go progressively shorter is the way to go if unsure. Long bob, shorter bob then pixie. So if you don't like it shorter, then it's not such a long haul to get to the previous stage that you preferred.
I changed hair styles every few months,sometimes monthly. You will be happy with the new short cut if you’re easygoing ,flexible,don’t mind changes. I had hair chin length to past shoulder to waist length to pixie even a boy haircuts (shaved sides and back slightly long side bangs). That’s what so fun about hairs,it grow ..so you can change back or to a different hairstyle. It’s more fun with shorter hairs,much faster to dry and style. You can colored your hairs as often as you cut without worrying about damaging your hairs. I like long hairs too but short hairstyles give me more confidence.

I'm cutting 14 inches off tomorrow and donating it to Wigs for Kids. Tomorrow is my 35th birthday, so I'm excited to start the 2nd half of my 30's with something totally different. I've had a long pixie before but tomorrow I'm getting a short pixie that will be long enough on the top to do a faux hawk or just something cute but the sides and back will be short as heck. Shorter than I've ever had.

I love that your makeup is subtle. Many of the other videos on pixies have women wearing (imho) far too much eye makeup. They look good, but it doesn’t seem practical to me, for everyday wear.
Let me tell a story.
One night my mom said that my hair is messy and told me to tie it up.
After tieing it I asked my mom if I could cut my hair and ofcourse mom said 'NO'.
I asked so many time and she shout at me that I was a girl and I should have long hair. (At that time my hair was 2-3 inches down my shoulder). I kept asking her but she said no again and again. After so much try she said you can cut it up to shoulder I was sooo happy. my mom said don't waste that hair we should donate it to cancer patients.
I also thought it was a good idea. So we told this matter to my uncle who is working at mvr cancer center.
He asked the employees they said hair should be 17 inches bu my hair was only 12 inches. So they told to grow my hair.
And weeks passed by I used many hair oil and shampoo for making it grow and my hair grew from12 to 15. By the way my hair is curly if I straight it, it will be like 17 or 18. So I am waiting for my hair to grow two inches. After my hair grow I will cut it up to my ear. But I know that will not look good on me so I decided to get a boy cut and I figured out I should get a pixie cut so I will tell my parents about it and if I get it I will tell you guys. Wish me luck...

I don't have any experience with growing out my pixie personally, because I love it and don't want to grow it out. You definitely aren't stuck with a pixie, I know other people have uploaded RUclips videos on their experience growing it out :)

But try to not let your acne or not being interested in makeup keep you from doing something you really want to do! If you get a pixie, you will learn how to style it and feel confident with your new look, because true confidence and beauty come from the inside out :)

So this guy I've met is a stylist and told me i would look lovely with a pixie cut due to high cheek bones and oval face shape. (Though my nose puts me off). I said no way at first, then thought why not. He said its better for guy to do girls cuts.
