Yeah and nothing against Boone, but Girardi has that presence that demands the respect that Boone doesn't quite have at this point in time IMO. The Phillies hierachy better not "blow it" with this great new manager!
Congratulations Joe and congrats to the city of Philly. You got a great manager. He was good for us Yankee fans here in NY. I know he'll do great things there.
Love how the management understood their huge mistake w Kapler. I honestly saw no other manager, when the full list of possible managers were presented. Great move, I love this acquisition.
The reason why I like Joe Girardi is the fact that he's been married for that long so his faithfulness shows even in his marriage and I think Joe Girardi is going to help the Philadelphia family the Philadelphia Phillies family a great deal as a person and also for managing the players I think every player will respect him as a player and a manager and as a father

Gabe kapler made BONEHEAD move all year! So with joe, and having our roster with McCutchen coming back, we're gonna be a force!

I hold him is such high regard and I really believe he is one of the best skippers in today's game. Congrats, Philly ! You got yourself a winner. Now you just need to trade Bryce Harper for a real baseball player.
I think Joe "gets" Philadelphia Phillies Baseball. He knows it's about winning and having a high-grade product on the field consistently (year in , year out).
Im not going to knock him but there was some years were he underachieved with the yankees . He was given a great roster and came up a few wins short of making playoffs, and he batted jorge posada 9th in the lineup. See how he does with the Phillies roster .
I dont' know how high we're gonna fly with Skipper Joe Girardi, but honestly, I can't see this being a "bad" move. I think that even after years go by, any honest Phillies fan will have to say that yes, Skipper Joe is one of the best managers who've donned the red pin stripes. We don't want to be flash in the pan. We don't want to burn out like a shooting star. We want to be a perennial presence at the top of the division, competing for pennants and World Series every year. We want always to be at or near the top, in the middle of the conversation.
Skipper Joe has already proven himself. Dude knows how to win and is a "need to win" kind of a guy. Joe alone ain't enough, though. We got a good skipper now. A good, good move. I'm a Phillies fan and think this was a good move to hire a really good manager. However, that being said Joe Girardi alone may not be the answer because when it comes down to it the GM, upper management, and most important the ownership they have been horrible for 10 years. The old saying a fish rots from the head down is correct. The Phillies have to many problems starting with ownership, management (GM), and a bad minor league system. They just do not have good young talent in their system and will take more than 3 years to build. Girardi has a 3 year contract and I can tell you it will take about 5-6 years to rebuild this sorry ass organization. They have no pitching, no closer, below average hitting team, and one overpaid player aka Harper that hit 35 HRs which was about 12th in the league.
