You forgot to remind people to disinfect their pruners before making the first cut and before moving on to a different rose bush to prevent spreading disease (black spot, etc...). Also, they should practice good garden hygiene by removing fallen leaves at the base of the bush to prevent disease from overwintering and reinfecting their rose bushes when they bud out in the spring. I use potassium bicarbonate as a disease preventative. It's the only fungicide I know of that will actually kill black spot & powdery mildew as well as prevent it. Never saw it in the stores but you can buy it online. It is not the same thing as baking soda. Happy gardening!
Ha, fear not! Roses are pretty darn tough and VERY forgiving. Over the years, I've seen some true atrocities with roses and they almost always bounce back.
