- We begin Installation of Stärken AAC ( Auto Aerated Concrete) block. The 1st step was to get our Crew and Foreman trained and certified. This was not a problem as the company provides free training by highly skilled technician over 2 days. We decided to use AAC vs other building material because of the durability and the ease of use. Once completed we will end up saving close to 400k pesos off total cost of build.
Now you may ask, what is total price per block. But it's actually better to compare total price per sqm finished! Each sqm of block is actually 30 percent cheaper than traditional hollowblock and it's much stronger and durability is amazing. That's just the up front savings!
We will continue to save throughout build with time spent by plumber and electrician due to its ease of installation of conduit and water lines.
Not to mention the reduction in our energy bills! Less heat entering house means less time running AC and more savings !

I'm from Russia. We have been building from such blocks for 60 years. They protect very well from the cold in winter and from the heat in summer. (We get -30 degrees in winter). A lot of houses are being built using this technology. We have about 80 factories around the country that produce them. We build without columns, since we do not have earthquakes. The wall turns out to be a whole circle. Thickness 17-25 inches.Very warm in winter!! There are many useful tools for working with these blocks. Under the electrician and plumbing it is convenient to work as a milling machine. Very speeds up the work. And if the master is of a high level and the wall turns out to be even, then you can make a layer of plaster only 2-4mm. It is fast and saves material. Blocks are made using natural gas. There is a lot of gas in Russia and the price is low. The price of 1m3 is only $60-80

How about earthquakes, Philippines experience constant ground movements from mild to major earthquakes? another thing is too much water saturation from non stop rain during typhoon seasons?
Remember those old crazy glue commercial’s? These Blocks with it’s own compound remind me of the old commercials,this stuff won’t crumble and decay away over time .
Anyone that knows anything about Swiss and German engineering would never doubt something that dates back to the origins of the horse and Buggy.,just incredible stuff,very impressive! AAC is almost as easy as cutting tiles for flooring,really neat how in seconds you can contour the cuts for electrical etc. simple! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

Wow! Those blocks sure are tough and very versatile. Can be sawed and easier to stack than ordinary CHB. Impressive👏👏👍👍
After 4 years of watching the building methods in the PH compared to here in the USA and being a 3rd generation carpenter/contractor I was terrified at what I saw over and over again on other blogs as far as methods and accuracy and well quality..Your 2 projects have given me soooo many ideas and put to rest it can be done in a more substantial way as far as what I was used to , thankx, love the videos..

Glad you were able to source and use Stärken's AAC blocks. Initial costs for these may be higher than regular blocks but if one actually sees the long term benefits, those AAC blocks will be a lot more cost-efficient as regular blocks tend to break up or deteriorate as the years pass. Excellent choice there. 👍
i Worked in Germany 25 years ago an worked with AAC that means i stand by what i know about them which is a lot, i will use them when i come over very soon.
Lol. Psst. I got!!! ..........you'll actually save quite a bit believe it or not!! Especially long term!!!! Well we will here because our electricity is so dangerous high. We look at being able to cut bill in half with thermal Insulation it provides

I Built my house in Texas, USA ( just 10 miles North of the border with México) . I also used AAC 4 Block from Hebel.
8 inches tall, 12 inches thick, & 24 inches long. Importing the brick made at the factory near Monterrey, México. The Factory was only 175 south of the US border. Used Insul-Deck for the flooring, used 6 sack concrete 6 inch deapth ( roughly 6,600 psi ) followed by 2cd level of Hebel AAC 4 block. 12 Ft ceiling on 1st level & 10 Ft on second level. Savings on electric was phenomenal.
You are going to be very happy with results. Due to Earthquakes in the Philippines better not to use AAC 2 ( as is will crack the block, but the thin set mortar will hold fast ).

Kaya mam ingatan nyo si sir richard sa health nya kayo din po mam. Pwede po kayong mag mask kalo na si sir dahil expose sya palagi sa mga pollution sa kanyang construction. Pollution ng cemento, pintura at adhesive at iba pa na may mga chemical content chemicals. Mahirap na po mgkasakit kayo. Kkumpare ko sa ganyang eded gantan din work nya expose sa mga chemicals nasira ang lungs at kidney nya. Concern lang po. God bless po sa inyo.

What's more inspiring to me is seeing them being able to afford new motorbikes and houses and support their families. I've done everything I can to ensure steady long term work for them and we do everything we can to pay them above average wages and bonuses! We are all human. And these guys are like family

Been waiting to see starken blocks going in! Love the adhesion of the blocks with cement, so much tidier than normal Filipino block work. Was there any damp proof membrane fitted/ if needed. Well Impressed with product. No rebar just wall ties. Perfect!

It had been a while since ive been on here but progress looks really good. Aac block looks interesting, what's the wear n tear like on it, the life span on the product, wgats it like for earthquakes, storms, floods natural disasters in general. Ive never seen it before so im interested to know more. Looks versatile watching the guy sawing it to size or shape. Looking well guys keep up the awesome work.
That's impressive for the adhesion. If I were to use the AAC in my build I think I would use a stainless steel mesh screen on the outside wall before skim coating for added shear.

We plan of building a house in Bohol which is prone to earthquakes. Do you think AAC is a good build?

@@lizalim3840 AAC is best in earthquake zones. Most buildings in Japan are using them due to earthquake requirements.
It's not needed
built many houses using this type of method in the UK, two course of thermolite brick set in mortar off the slap to get bang on level ,5 course of block on top to get joist height,, blocks used were twice the height and length of standard block, standard block equal 10 course of block and two brick to joist height,, was interesting to use another method of building as you never used your brick trowel ,tool used looked like a sweet scoop with teeth in it, all block work went up to full height ,joist height to wall plate height ,and peaks then dropped back down and added a skin of brickwork using mortar , method was tried out as other trades could get inside the house quicker whilst you were doing external brickwork, similiar operation with timber framed buildings, (method was called thin joint blockwork)

A very very pleasant day Ms Donna and Sir Richard. We're from Albay. We're planning to build our house this year. I really really really want to have cement finish concrete floor just like yours in the 1st house that you built. But my husband said that it should be done by someone who is skilled in doing it. Unfortunately, we dont know one.😔😪

FYI I saw another video on laying AAC and they built a small box and attached a notched trowel to it so they placed it over the block, filled it with Mudd and slid it down the row. It is much faster than doing each block individually and more accurate.

Yes. We will eventually make one but the notch size in video is 1/4 inch and AAC is only 1/8

Regards from Virac Catanduanes. We are from Finland building there. I would like to ask from where you bought the steel cladding. I am not going to use it as form for floor but our rooftop needs strong cannopy to support solar panels and solar water heater and at same time give shade. I think steel cladding is best becauce it needes so few suporting structures under it. One idea is allso to collect rain water for washing from the canopy.
I've heard of this product and we will seriously consider looking at this when we build our house in the Philippines

No reo steel needed through the blocks, like hollow block needs? Just those brackets at the ends of the adjoining walls? Then usually it will be hard plastered or covered? I should be patient and wait and see.
Here in Uk we called it breeze block or thermalite block.

The savings from AC energy demands should help quite a bit in the Philippines.The building industry there should adopt and train for this building technology, many new houses and buildings in Europe and the USA have been using this for years.

I left Philippines in 1997, our place used to be like that open field, rice ,vegetables and a lot more. We used to play in mud, chasing dragonflies. But now it's surrounded by houses you've couldn't even see the mountains anymore ....very sad.😢
there are still places like that. u cant stop progress. the city or place needs improvements. thats why they are called city so they can grow. there is a place for planting trees, rice and many more,

If you use these types of blocks, we don't need reinforcing bars anymore?horizontal and vertical? Like if we use CHB ( concrete hollow blocks)

Our AAC project came in 18% cheaper and would have been 21% but we did a few things over and above.
The difference in our construction is… we were told by the Canadian building code not to install onto beams… pour the floor first. Obviously many ways to build… enjoying yours
Like is being done too in Europe.
1st pouring concrete plate
2nd installing 1st layer of blocs with concrete on the concrete plate.
3rd a layer of epdm on the 1st layer of blocs, to avoid layers above can absorb humidity.
4th than continuing bloc layers with glue, and every 2 layers metal nets in the glue.

Why do you still pour yourself the 2nd floor?
Instead of ordering concreet armed plates which can be put in place with a crane?
